2 Structure problem of the 2007 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 06/17/2013

4 inches of rainwater in the rear passenger floor. Via the net this is a common problem with all divisions of Ford's luxury cars 1998 to 2007. Youtube has several how to videos with 5,000 to 15,000 hits (keywords: Lincoln Town Car water leak). The sheer number of video hits gives insight to how vast this problem is. The gasket that Ford makes for these cars deteriorates. The leak starts slow and " mold spreads until someone sees inches of water in the rear passenger floor. My buddy followed repair video directions. Now the right rear is nice and dry to the touch*. Still waiting for the front to dry out*. Now the drivers side front and rear floor is wet. My shoes are slipping off the brake and gas pedals. I've only seen a few videos with drivers side leaks. Ford should recall all their luxury car models. Mold and your foot slipping off of a brake could prove fatal. So far I've learned via the net that water enters via an o ring for speedometer and or hood open cable. Next is google and yahoo. *I have no idea how much rust if any has occurred under my floor boards and if there is any chance carbon monoxide inhalation might be looming. I hear the only sure way to remove the water is to remove the seats then the entire carpet, attend to the rust if any and allow the carpets to sit in the sun for who knows how long. Ford should recall these vehicles as far back as they made these cheap gaskets. It's as if the engineers designed the gaskets and o rings for an indoor use not giving any thought to outdoor elements and heat from an engine. . Read more...

5 Structure problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 12/28/2008

The gas pedal is located too close to the brake pedal. It is very easy to press on both pedals at the same time. This has happened to me 4 times in the six months I have been driving this car. The problem is alleviated somewhat by positioning the adjustable brake pedal at the most extended extreme, but it is still far too easy to depress both pedals simultaneously.

7 Structure problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 07/16/2008

I have a 2006 Lincoln Town Car. It has a driver adjustment on the height of the brake pedal. Even with it at the top, when you apply the brakes, the accelerator is so close that you can push it also. Coming up to a stop sign, I've applied the brakes only to have the car jump forward into traffic.

Mold or musty smell coming from all vents when a/c, heat or fan is used. Dealer states that it is a common problem with all 2003 cars and up and can be eliminated by spraying lysol directly into vents. I tried it and it doesn't work. Close friend just got rid of his Lincoln at a substantial loss because problem was never resolved by Lincoln. Lincoln should be encouraged to remedy this problem since it is most certainly a health issue that should be corrected. The problem is common and documented all over the internet by troubled consumers.

12 Structure problem of the 2003 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 10/27/2006

I recently purchased the vehicle and noticed on the first night drive that when applying the brakes, the 3rd brake light(the one at the top of the back window glowed brightly over the inside of the window making it impossible to see to the rear. When it rained and the back window was wet. The problem was even worse. Upon feeling around the light I discovered 3/4 inch space between the light and the glass thus letting the light spill out. I called the local Lincoln dealer who after examining it said they were all like that and couldn't help me. I called Ford motor customer service and got the same response. I have had to put duct tape around it to stop the light but I know this summer when sun gets on it the tape will not stick and leave glue residue. I can raise the ceiling (and light ) up and down 3/4 of an inch but they say thats the way they were built. It's dangerous. I had a Mercury before and you couldn't even tell when the 3rd lite was onl.

13 Structure problem of the 1999 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 09/26/2006

I have a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. The windshield adhesive has failed apparently from having been parked outdoors for 25 days. The windshield has slipped down about one half inch and it is leaking. It is loose enough that it vibrates when the door is closed. I searched for a recall and although there was none for the Lincoln windshield, I did see that the Ford windstar Mini van had a recall for using the incorrect urethane adhesive(campaign id number 00v020000). My Lincoln towncar was built at Ford's wixom plant where the windstar vans were built and near the same time.
