2 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 12/29/2021

Want to report similar problem others seem to be reporting. When starting the car you hear 5 chimes/beeps repeating five times. The airbag light remains lit the entire time. On extended trips the chimes/beeps comes on again roughly every thirty minutes. Being directly linked to the airbag I’m surprised to find that this has yet to be recalled especially since many other towncar owners are reporting the exact same problem. I discovered that others were having similar issues when I was looking for a replacement seat belt because ours is sluggish to retract, you have to help it back to starting position.

3 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 07/26/2019

Seatbelt sensor on our 06 Lincoln Town Car failed and replacement cost to replace the sensor is very prohibitive. I read many complaints with this same issue, so I believe Ford/Lincoln should be required to recall and replace said equipment.

4 Seat Belt problem of the 2011 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 06/07/2019

The car accelerated while going up a ramp that went to an axis road to the interstate. We hit a retaining wall head on, spun around and then the back of the car also hit the wall. My seat belt did not hold me back. I ended wedged between the console and dashboard. I have a broken rib and chipped tooth and bumps and bruises. My wife was a passenger and her seat belt held her. The air bags did not deploy. Our car was totaled.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2000 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

The steering is extremely loose. The least amount of movement of the steering wheel will jerk you into another lane and it feels like the car is almost like floating out from underneath you. While on the interstate passing semis it feels as if it's going to push me off of the road. It's extremely difficult to keep the car straight on the road without even moving the steering wheel it'll drift to the left or the right. When trying to correct it going into another lane if you just turn the steering wheel just a hair it's almost like you turn the steering wheel 180. Also when attempting to go around a curve you have to barely turn the steering wheel or else it'll run you off the road.

8 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

Airbag and seatbelt orange colored light has come on dashboard; 5 chimes x 5 times starting car and every half hour thereafter; car to garage, on diagnostic computer, front driver's seat removed; seat belt pretensioner bad; unknown with airbag; dealership states car is out of warranty; mileage is 57209. 3; seat belt lap and shoulder harness have locked into place after adjustment since car purchased in August of 2006; should not lock per my mechanic; dealership and Lincoln unwilling to pay to replace pretensioner and seat belt; can't determine if airbag is defective until pretensioner and seat belt replaced; Lincoln could offer to comp dealership the costs of the pretensioner and seat belt replacement and airbag if airbag is found to be defective; have no idea if seat belt would work let alone airbag now; very concerned driving this car going forward; current and potential costs are high for me now; feel Lincoln should pay as this had to be a known defect to anyone who drove this car at the dealership once it was delivered from the factory.

9 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 05/24/2017

I started the car as usual and immediately the airbag light began flashing. After a couple minutes, the airbag light went from flashing to solid and the car began a series of 5 beeps and repeated this series of beeps 5 times. A local auto shop diagnosed the problem as the driver side seatbelt pre-tensioner and said it would be around $1,000 to replace, give or take a couple hundred. The shop advised if the repair was not completed, the airbags wouldn't deploy in the event of an accident. After researching online, this safety issue appears to be a common occurrence and has not yet been recalled. This issue occurs immediately when starting the car and the airbag light stays illuminated for the entire trip (the series of beeping seems to stop after repeating the series 5 times).

12 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 07/22/2016

Just called Ford motor company and they say that NHTSA, issues the recalls ,not Ford motor company, why haven;t you issued one for this model car? you would think Ford would be concerned about our safety, they don;t care and neither does NHTSA. . . . . How many people , including children must die before you issue a safety recall notice? thats why we need a change in our government, and very soon. . .

13 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

Chimes 5 times and repeats 5 times. This occurs every 30 minutes once car is started and seat belt/aibag light continuously on. Diagnosed by Ford dealer as driver's seat belt retracror. Replaced and chime and light will not go off. Happens while stationary and while car is in motion. Haven't attempted to repair again due to cost and have read that this doesn't necessarily fix the problem.

14 Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

Seatbelt / airbag warning light indicator is warning about either faulty sensor or faulty belt tensioner. Began while in parked poison and continues periodically when in motion, regardless of speed. Cost to repair is exorbitant, nearly half the value of the car and is not guaranteed to work is last. The airbags will likely not worth in the event of accident but no way to tell unless there is an accident. Serious fault regarding required safety equipment with this make/model year. Mileage is 170,100. Also, the passenger side floorboard, especial in backseat become saturated when it rains. Floor plugs are intact, the water is entering from poor design feature where the windshield/engine meet and supposedly slow for water to be channeled away from engine to ground but is actually channelling along the side into the passenger cabin footwell. Again, this design flaw is a known issue from manufacturer. This is a health and safety issue, especially in warm climates due to mold growing as a result of water pooling in cabin. As this car was garaged kept and not used often until the past 6 months, the water issue wasnt known until first rain this spring, 2016. Car was in open air, uncovered driveway and not in use for 2 weeks after said rain. When owner opened car door, she was hit with overwhelming stench of mold. She located the source and water had visibly saturated floor, rug and padding underneath. Black and green mold had grown extensively in backseat passenger floorboard and under front passenger seat.

Takata recall; again why is my car deleted from the list of cars with the same year? is there safety more important than my family? Ford intentionally installed a cheaper version of airbag inflator, knowing there was a problem. When is this democratic government going to go after these companies who violate the law? my 2005 Dodge truck also is under a recall for the same thing, but there are no parts available to fix it. . . 27 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

Our car has not been recalled by Ford or NHTSA. Numerous requests over the last (2) years have not returned a response. Why is cars from the same year being considered and not ours? is their safety more important than ours? why are we being ignored by the establishment? this is outright discrimination. . . . . We have spent $1200. For the passenger airbag inflator, only to find out we need the driver side inflator also for it to work. Where are the parts? why hasn't foqrd made these parts available? they have neglected our safety. . . . . We can not even carry our grand children in our vehicle because of this . Where's the justice in this? this same situation applies for my 2005 Dodge ram pickup, again no parts available. Why don't you just replace them with takata-inflator, like we have now, if it lasts (10) more years,at least we'll be safe. . . Does anyone in washington do their jobs anymore? maybe it's time for new leadership, and not the democratic do nothing party. . . You have had (8) years, for heavens sake , get moving. . . .

28 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

We have contacted Ford motor company and they still refuse to do a recall on our 2005-Lincoln Town Car. ,why is this not being fixed? we have spent $1200 dollars to locate the problem and have one seat belt replaced, and airbag inflator. After replacing one side, the other side now needs replacing, which there was not another part available. So now it's all disconnected, and all we have for safety is the seat belts, which Ford said that would be safe enough. I find this unacceptable by this company and will never buy another Ford product. . . Why hasn't your organization done something to secure our safety? we can't even take the grand-kids in our car ,because of this safety -hazard. We have filled a complaint with your organization last year, when is this going to be rectified ? please notify us as to what you are going to do about this? help!.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

Vehicle dashboard "air bag" light came on! took to Lincoln dealer who stated it looked liked the passenger seat pretensioner needed to be replaced. Stated that most likely the driver side would also ultimately need replacement as well, as it is a continual and on-going problem! cost to repair one side approx. $750. 00 after discount. This car has always been serviced by Lincoln, never in an accident, and only has 35,500 miles on it. Dealer also stated, that it is a real safety issue and if not fixed, air bags might not deploy if in an accident. Altho, I have an after market service warranty - oem bumper to bumper contract, they refuse to pay for the repairs, stating that "safety items" are not covered? with Ford motors knowing of the on-going safety problems this item should be on recall due to overall safety concerns with cars on the road, whereas, customers cannot afford to fix them, or fail to, and lives are being lost as a result!.
