Consumer has replaced transmission 3 times, starting at 42,000 miles, and it was replaced under warranty. Overdrive light flashed on vehicle/ lost power/ started shifting and gave gas to accelerate, but it didn't help. The same sign each time, transmission went out. March 1999 90,000 & Nov-2000 149,000; there was no warranty. It has cost $2400 for each replacement.
The transmission has not actually failed to a point where it is not driveable, but I have had to replace several parts of the engine to get it narrowed down and now the overdrive light constantly flashes and after some research(the owners manual has none) I have come to discover that the transmission is failing and more than likely on its last leg and from what I have gathered it costs approximately $3000. 00 to have it repaired I am not pleased, but I have been advised to file a complaint so that hopefully one day Mazda will have to do a product recall for using inferior components. Call me a sucker, but we will never own any "Ford" product again. Do the terms "found on road dead" and "fixed or repaired daily come to mind"? so far I have put about $600 into the car just to replace sensors so that the motor is running correctly only to discover that the transmission is almost shot too.
