Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problems of the 1997 Mazda 626

Four problems related to transmission slip out of gear have been reported for the 1997 Mazda 626. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2006

Car is driven under normal conditions highway/ city. After the transmission warms up the od off lamp blinks and the transmission shifts erratically, when starting from a light the transmission will shift out of first gear at about 4000 rpm and seems to go directly into 3rd. We have been told that the transmission must be replaced, now the car is just sitting until we can get it fixed, they just too much money at this time.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2005

Transmission failure o/d on light flashing, car fails to shift out of 1st gear, 2nd failure of this nature trans was rebuilt.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2001

Intermittently vehicle jerks/ sputters and jumps out of gear or gets stuck between gears. Gear is shifted to neutral first before going into drive. Service technician indicated that vehicle didn't fall within the guidelins of recall 98-v-206-001/ manufacturer's recall 76810. Vehicle has a preexisting timing belt problem. Please provide more information.

4 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/20/1997

While driving vehicle jumps out of gear. The dealer has been contacted.
