My 2000 Mazda 626 began having problems a week after purchasing April 10, 2008! the car started having electrical problems which resulted in 3 batteries, 2 alternators, no ac or defrost could be run. Then the brakes were replaced twice within a 2 month period! all these problems resulted in me almost being killed from an automobile accident! this happened June 8, 2009 which was a Monday approx. 4 pm. The airbags never deployed, and my head hit the steering wheel. Windshield shattered all over my hand resulting in severe lacerations! this car needs looked at ASAP!!!! please help.

Dt: consumer states she had an accident on 7-8-05. She was hit on the front end of her car by someone traveling west. The air bags did not deploy and as a result the consumer was injured. She has not talked to the dealer or the manufacturer. She does not know how fast the person who hit her was going. The consumer was going approx. 55-60 mph. There had been no previous air bag problems. The air bag warning light had not come on. She did apply her brakes prior to impact. She was wearing her seat belt. My wife was driving our 1997 Mazda 626 when she hit a pothole at 19th and spring garden sts in phila. , PA. Both airbags went off, breaking the windshield. Her neck was a little red after the incident, but no medical treatment was sought. We found a small dent in the rim, but the tire did not go flat. She drove the car to a place where she could pull off the road. Our insurance company totaled the car. I found that 97 Mazda 626's were recalled. I had a dealer check our VIN number and was told that it had been taken in for the recall. Our insurance company aaa midatlantic is calling this a chargeable accident and raising our rates 40%. I feel that the airbags should not have deployed when hitting a pothole at no more than 25 mph that did no real damage to the car. Luckily, she was not hurt, but was certainly scared to death when it went off.

While driving 40-45 mph and making a left hand turn consumer's vehicle was hit by another vehicle. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. There were injuries. Consumer was pregnant, and hit her head and chest on the steering wheel. There was also a thirteen year old in the vehicle that was injured. Both consumer and the passenger were wearing seat belts. Vehicle was salvaged.

While driving 35 mph vehicle collided with a telephone pole. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. The seat belts did not lock up, and driver sustained minor injuries. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, but dealer did not resolve the problem.

While driving 30 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a rear end collision which caused a chain reaction. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

My husband was driving our 2001 madza 626 with about 59000 miles (can't be accurate because it is still in the shop). He hit a pick-up truck from behind while going approximally 40 miles per hour. A car in front of the truck stopped quickly when the light changed. When the truck stopped, he was not able to stop. The truck had a large iron round bumper guard. My husband head hit the steering wheel along with his body being throw forward. The airbags did not deploy. Because of his head injury and back pain he had to be transported to hospital. He is still having headaches. Because we only have the minum full coverage all of his hospital bills and cost of the transport is on us. We have not received all of the hospital bills, but the transport itself is over $900. He also was not able to go to work for three days. If the airbags had deployed he would not have hit his head and been thrown forward. The cost of the car repairs are $3,800. The date of this accident was October 20,2003. The airbags has not been looked into at the body shop and the car is almost ready. I feel this is a defect in the car. I am concerned that if another accident occurs, this will happen again with greater injuries or maybe death.

I was involved in a collision where I rear ended the vehicle in front of me. The collision occured in a 45 mph zone. As a result I sustained a concussion and was taken to the hospital. I now have a cut on my head and two black eyes. The air bags never deployed despite the $7500. 00 in damage to the front end of my vehicle. Please contact me if you have any further questions. Vehicle was hit a 30 mph in the front center of the vehicle but the air bag did not deploy causing minor injuries to the consumer. The drivers seat belt did not hold and as a result the driver head went through he windshield. The dealer was notified. Ts.

During a total frontal collision, where my Mazda rear-ended a Lexus SUV, at a speed b/t 25 and 30 mph, the frontal airbags did not deploy. There was over $5600 worth of damage to the front end of my car due to the force of the collision. However, the airbags did not deploy. I suffered muscular and compression injuries in this collision. Medical care was sought for these injuries. These injuries may have been prevented had the airbags deployed correctly. During the collision, I went underneath the SUV and therefore the lowest part of the front bumper was not touched. However, the rest of the front end suffered much damage. The airbag sensors must be located in this lower bumper area. This is not good, if I would have hit the SUV harder, I would have still gone under their trunk and would have possibly suffered more damages but without the airbags deploying because the sensors would have still been located too low to be activated.

My son hit a telephone pole after he hit some black ice. He was going about 30mph and the air bags never deployed. I have pictures of the car inside and out if you would like for me to forward them to you. Mazda is really passing the buck. I am thankful my son only had a broken wrist and had to have surgery to put a screw in. It could have been a fatality. I wouldn't want another family to go through something like this. Vehicle involved in a frontal collision with a 1984 Dodge, 6000; at 35 mph. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. Dealer / manufacturer were notified.

In rainy condition and driving 40 mph, abs braking system malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to skid about 10-15 feet and have a frontal impact with another vehicle. Upon impact, driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupants in this crash. Please provide further information.

On stated date, I was rearended on highway. Air bags did not deploy, however back part of drivers seat broke. It was found completely horizontal at end of impact. Mazda said it was built to do that for safety reasons! tow truck operator, auto body employees have never heard or seen such a "safety feature. " due to this defect in seat mechanism,I sustained back injuries that continue to this day. I have kept the broken seat track. I would like to have it checked out. If Mazda designed the seat back to break on impact as a safety factor, it has failed me quite drastically!!.

Consumer was in an accident with another car on 17 Dec 98, and air bags did not deploy. Also, passenger's seat belt inertia device did not lock. Failure of passenger's seat belt allowed passenger to be thrown forward, striking legs in dash and head hitting windshield. Consumer sustained alot of bruising and swelling, but did not suffer serious injury. Also, driver had some bruising and cuts. Both are undergoing physical therapy.

Consumer friend was driving at approx 35 mph suddenly another vehicle jumped out, in order to avoid hitting this vehicle, consumer hit parked car head-on. Both airbags did not deploy, due to this defect, driver sustained extensive head injuries, hit steering wheel . Seat belt was also worn at the time.

Reported to Mazda that in two front-end collisions no airbags deployed. And they said "too bad. " car was almost totalled in June 96 wreck, and we were both injured. The car was repaired, and in December 96, we hit two deers/an embankment and rolled 175 feet and the airbags still did not deploy, so what exactly does it take for them to go off. Needless to say, the car was demolished in the second accident and we no longer have it.
