Air Bag Problems of Mazda 626

I received the recall notice 7914j, campaign #15v-345 & 15v-382, in August of 2015. I called the local dealership, lester glen Mazda in toms river, NJ on 8/13/15. They told me they would order the part and call within a week to schedule an appointment to install the recall part. I called again on 9/16/15 and they told me they were still waiting for the part from Mazda, that the parts hadn't been shipped because of some issue on Mazda's end. It is now 10/16/15 and I still have not received a call from the dealership and the part still has not arrived.

Airbags deployed in my 1996 Mazda 626. Without any reason, while driving. Causing scrapes and bruising, and the windshield to crack.

The light for the air bags just started to flash on the panel - car only 8 years old & done around 50000 kms - have been told it is the module and needs replacing - also that the bags could either inflate without warning or may not work at all if car involved in an accident - therefore considered dangerous. Cost of approx au$1500. Should this really be happening in a car of this age. We feel it is a fault with the car and the module should be replaced as a 'car defect replacement'. Has anyone had any dealings with this problem before and if so what was the outcome. I feel we should not have to pay for this as it is definitely a manufacturing problem.

While vehicle was parked at the dealer for an unrelated repairs air bags deployed. Dealership did not accept responsibility for the occurrence, and manufacturer told consumer that vehicle was no longer under warranty, and there was nothing they could do.

Airbags deployed while driving on a surface street without braking. Driving 30 miles and hour and the bags exploded with no impact of any kind. I was burned and brused. Mazda will not take responsibility for this and insists that I have my insurance pay for repair. The bags were on fire.

My daughter has a 1998 Mazda 626. She hit a tree head on at about 40 miles per hour and the air bag did not come out. We have had the car repaired and she is driving it now. It really concerns me that this is a dangerous car if she has a wreck that is worst that the one she already has.

Consumer states: while driving at the speed of 35 mph was involved in a frontal collision neither air bag deployed. Dealer has been notified. If you have any additional information feel free to add. Mr.

Consumer states while driving 20-25 mph without warning or involvement of a collision, the air air bags deployed causing injury to the driver. . Also the right tire and wheel were damaged as the vehicle came to a stop at the curb.

Received safety recall in mail to have dealer re-program airbag system due to risk of pre-mature deployment. Upon presenting vehicle to dealer for recall safety fix, was advised that airbag system was no longer operative and must pay $365 to install new unit. Currently without airbag supplemental restraint system due to complying with Mazda factory saftey recall action.

While driving 30 mph both airbags deployed. Same day received recall letter on airbags. Dealer refused to honor recall.

I brought a 1999 626 Mazda new in 1999,I have had problems from day one. I had a new transmission install and a new motor and still having problems. I have spent over 8000 on this car. Today while driving to work the od light came on and the car wouldn't go in reverse.

Consumer received recall#98v249000/ concerning air bag module and contacted contcrippen auto mall. Was told there was a waiting period of 6 weeks due to lack of personnel. Dealer only had 1 technician that weeks on Volvo and Mazda. Dealer located in lansing mi, tele#517-627-8411.

Consumer has been trying to contact a dealer about a recall letter that was received on 01-Feb-99, concerning air bag recall#ssp34, and has not received any satisfaction.

The air bag housing failed.
