My 2000 Mazda 626 began having problems a week after purchasing April 10, 2008! the car started having electrical problems which resulted in 3 batteries, 2 alternators, no ac or defrost could be run. Then the brakes were replaced twice within a 2 month period! all these problems resulted in me almost being killed from an automobile accident! this happened June 8, 2009 which was a Monday approx. 4 pm. The airbags never deployed, and my head hit the steering wheel. Windshield shattered all over my hand resulting in severe lacerations! this car needs looked at ASAP!!!! please help.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1998 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

1998 Mazda 626 lx 2. 0l 4cylinder engine. Returning back to the guest house after dropping a friend off at the airport that evening, after getting off the interstate, I heard a crack (followed by a grinding noise) from the passenger's side of the engine. Within moments as I slowed the car to a safe spot, I heard a whipping noise from the same region. That later happened to be the serpentine and alternator belts both broke just after exiting the interstate, the engine and battery lights came on at once. . , and then, immediately after that, the engine stopped working. I called my insurance and had my car towed to the guest house. The car was looked at and the diagnoses were the gears in the water pump were broken which froze the alternator belt, the alternator belt-now stiffened- shredded and mangled the serpentine belt. Then the serpentine belt tore along the grooved lines. Plus, the engine is now leaking coolant. Repairs???? I am waiting for the estimate to come in. I have been warned that it would not be cheap to fix. $500-$700 I asked? nope! he said, after letting out a chuckle. . . , much higher he replied. At least $1000 or more.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1998 Mazda 626

I just bought a 98 626 with a little over a 100k on it in may before I bought it I took it to Mazda to have all parts and componets checked out they said the transmission was healthy and the engine was good and all parts looked great. So I bought the car the same day the check engine light came on they told me it was the gas I was using then reset my code. Since then I have had problems with the alternator the belts and now the transmission. Since may I have put over 1100 in parts and labor in this car now they say I need a new transmission which is over 2200 any suggestions on what to do.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1999 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 10/01/2001

The contact complained about vehicle problems on February 27, 2001, when driving at 60 mph the vehicle shook. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The contact stated transmission needed to be replaced and the dealer replaced it. The contact stated on March 15, 2005 the engine had to be replaced because it was running hot, the engine was replaced by a local mechanic. There was no warning and no noise. 5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2000 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 02/12/2001

Engine check light and battery light came on, came on five times, the first time dealer replaced broken idler pulley belt bolt, second time dealer replaced alternator, third time dealer replaced ignition switch, fourth time transmission range sensor was replaced, and fifth time clutch pedal switch was replaced, at this time engine check light is on again. Consumer states when the vehicle was driven off the lot the first day, there was a horrific screeching noise from the right front wheel, consumer assumed that it was a new car noise and it would eventually go away, consumer was inforemd that something had slipped in the wheel area, over the next two weeks consumer complained to the dealer that vehicle was making an extremly loud thumping noise, the problem was diagnosed as the freon system which was then flushed and then refilled to the correct level, which was done to take out the air bubbles in the air condition line, also the air condition was blowing hot air, the center console would not latch, numerous componets were replaced on the vehicle due to the engine light coming on and the problem still exists.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1997 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 02/23/1998

Fuel injection malfunctioned, causing car to stall. When starting up, wouldn't turn over , would open gas tank then car would start sometimes. Put in shop took 30days to get part then within the same year. The alternator failed now within a year. The same problem is arising. It been in the shop 5 times since I purchased the vehicle a little over 2 years ago.
