The vehicle is stalling during acceleration and after. When you let the car sit and not run it will not flash but after driving amd not getting any speed it does it again.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1997 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

We recently bought or Mazda 626 from a dealer we were told that we were getting a quality car. We were fooled. With in the first week we had to buy part after part. Change the trans fluid, change the distributor , spark plug wires, spark plugs, router motor, ingnition coil, clean fuel injectors , replace fuel filter, still need to get a trans cooler as soon as I can. It took us a few years to save for a car. We trusted a dealer and got screwed! we have no money left and a car we can only use on a limited basis. We thought after loosing our income then our former car to repossession with only $50. 00 left on it, then our home gets foreclosed on, and the loss of a father, and sister in a two year time frame was enough. Nope we buy a car with so many defects it crazy, I can believe these cars a even aloud to be sold to anyone. Face it they are death traps and anyone who owns one should get them replaced at manufacture cost.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1997 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 05/11/2006

My car idles back and forth like someone is pressing the gas and letting off. I had it put on a computer at advanced automobile and I got a throtle position sensor , and had it put on. My car still did the same exact thing. Had it put back on the computer, and had a mass flow sensor put on it. My car still did the same thing . Took car to dealer, put idle air control valve and replaced wiring to this sensor. I even put an emc from a salvage yard in my car. Still my car did the same thing . Were there any other Mazdas doing the same thing? I' spent alot of money to try and fix my car .

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1996 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 04/02/2004

I bought a used 1996 Mazda 626lx from rierson motors in clovis, new mexico and have had the car less than one month and the engine light stays on , it loses power on the interstate when I accelerate above 55 mph and lurches and goes in to next gear very hard. I think Mazda should be held liable for these defects in this paticular model. I hope the government will look into this matter and investigate why so many consumers are having the same problems and Mazda should step up to the plate and admit their failure and fix the problem are compensate the consumer for their expenditures.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2001 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 05/13/2003

In August 2001, I purchased a Mazda 626. In may 2003, I started to experience major problems with the car. At 23,000 miles, the following had to be replaced: transmission assembly, thermostat and radiator sub-tank. At 31,000 miles, my car was in the shop for 11 days in order to replace the following: mass air flow sensor, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, valve idle air control, thermostat gasket, and the throttle body gasket. My car is nearing the end of its 3 year/36,000 warranty and I am frightened about how much future repairs will cost, as well as the overall safety of the car.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1999 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 07/26/2002

Was about 2 miles from home, accelerating from a turn. Transmission went "clunk" then noticible hesitation when applying gas. When car was parked, smoke coming from underneath the hood. Checked and noticed "burned" trannie fluid covering components. Had car towed to japanese auto. Repair service. Told needed new trannie. Had towed to Mazda dealership. Dealership provided new trannie, radiator and coolant switch b/c common knowledge that radiator was not sufficient to help cool trannie. Mazda covered parts, but in order for them to do that I need to pay labor and get timing belt, gaskets and seals changed. Overall I am pleased with Mazda's action, but I think it should be known that there are problems with this transmission/radiator combo. Fyi. Tom naso's staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I appreciated all their work.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1998 Mazda 626

Failure Date: 08/03/2001

Noise from engine, whining noise, rpm dial jumps up when accelerator push but no power. Car jerks upon coming to a full stop. Rpm dial goes up and down to the point that engine will cut off. No dash board light ever came on to give warning. On 8-01-01, had car towed to montgomery madza in charlotte, nc (vacationing) dealer calls on Monday to state transmission had failed and to replace would cost $2700. 00. Dealer called back with a new quote of $1700. 00. Stated that territory rep, tom watkins was the only one that could authorize a different but because I was over 80,000 miles, he was sticking to his decision. I asked to speak with mr. Watkin and was told he was unavailable and was given my phone number but he never returned the call. I called my dealer located in atlanta, GA, hennessy Mazda and spoke with steve andrews in the repair dept and told him of the situation and his only recommendation was that they add an additional transmission cooler and he was not surprised that the transmissions are not good. I gave authorization to have the car repaired at 4:30pm on 8-6-01. I also stated that I had some dealer (hennessy Mazda) coupons that would have helped with the cost of the repairs but montgomery Mazda would not honor the coupons. Did some research online and to my surprise that this model and make has so many problems. My faith in Mazda has gone out of the window.
