Two problems related to fuel hoses lines/piping and fittings have been reported for the 1999 Mazda B3000. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Backed vehicle onto ramps to get underneath and replace speed sensor in the differential. Vehicle rolled off steep end of ramps, bouncing about 8 inches. As a result of either the repair or the bounce, the vehicle has a strong gasoline smell and a diagnostic p0455 (eecs large leak). While investigating noticed that the vehicle apparently does not have the metal skid pad under the gas tank, and never did. Eecs canister appears to be just in front of the spare tire, also nonstandard. Beginning to think I was sold some sort of lemon. Car was purchased new, also has the intermittent wiper and pinging problems others have reported.
Fuel system shut down while driving on highway.
