The contact owns a 2020 Mazda Cx-5. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated and driving 65 mph in the middle lane of a busy six-lane highway, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle was suddenly stalled and coasted to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. Mrcc (Mazda radar cruise control) will unexpectedly decrease vehicle speed when in a turn even if not following another vehicle. Speed decrease happens regardless of vehicle speed. Amount of decrease is severe depending on "sharpness" of the turn, but will happen even on gentle sweeping turns on an interstate highway. Behavior is reproducible during all variety of driving conditions.

Nist campaign 19v497modifications were made. The vehicle now decelerates up to 6 mph on hill ingress; on egress the vehicle goes at least 3 mph over setting. When passing cars on a hill, the car slows down when relying on cruise control to resume driving, thus causing us to step on the gas to hold a safe distance from the passed car. We have lost at least 3 mpg fuel efficiency. We have returned to the dealer and they indicated that the vehicle is operating as expected. This fix is a safety concern.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Mazda Cx-5. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle recognition system was on while the preceding vehicle was driving at a slower speed. The contact attempted to switch lanes, but the vehicle would not decelerate on its own. The contact had to depress the brake pedal to prevent a crash. The contact turned the cruise control off and back on, and the vehicle was able to drive normally. The dealer (jim click Mazda eastside, 1301 s wilmot rd, tucson, az 85711) was contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

According to consumer reports (Aug. 2017, page 58, last paragraph) the Mazda's new Cx-5's forward collision warning with low-speed automatic emergency braking standard should be applauded. These features malfunctions in las vegas during hot weather. Mazda knows about the problem and has no fix. We bought a Mazda Cx-5 on June 9, 2017. While driving on the freeway on July 21, 2017 the car quit working properly and we had three warning messages come up on the dashboard: 1. Smart city brake support malfunction 2. Smart brake system malfunction 3. Forward camera malfunction. Had I not been paying close attention while using the cruise control the car might have rear-ended the car in front at 60 mph. The dealer service staff I talked to on the phone when I got home said that Mazda knew about the failures. Mazda said these errors are caused by excessive heat and Mazda has had many complaints in many locations. There is presently no fix. It seems to work ok when the weather is cooler. These are safety features we purchased and they failed while we were driving in las vegas. The temperature was 104 at the time. Not excessive for las vegas nor other parts of the southwest desert. I currently have pictures of two of the warning messages that flashed on the dashboard and can be seen at https://photos. App. Goo. Gl/0mfdpf5wzvoux2sp2. This seems like a major flaw of the Mazda Cx-5 if their premier package safety features fails to work when the outside temperature is around 104. The car should not be recommended, or even sold, with these features until Mazda gets this fixed. Maybe other Mazda models have this flaw.
I have experienced intermittent problems with the steering wheel buttons, especially with regard to the cruise control (cc). Sometimes, the buttons appear to change functions with each other. Here is an example: 1. I am driving along on the highway, and I turn on cc ¿ the dash indicator appears in yellow. 2. I set the cc to my current speed, the dash indicator changes to green, and my speed is regulated. 3. I decide to reduce speed, so I press the minus (-) button once. 4. My speed increases by about one mile per hour. 5. I press minus (-) again, and I speed up another mile per hour. 6. I press plus (+), and I slow down one mile per hour. 7. I press cancel, and nothing happens ¿ the cc indicator on the dash stays green, and my speed holds at the current value. ¿it is possible that cancel reduces my speed by one mile per hour, but I usually don¿t wait long enough to find out, because I am trying to cancel! 8. I press off, and the cc cancels. It is still on, but the dash indicator turns yellow, and my speed is no longer regulated (I am coasting). 9. I press off several times, and nothing changes ¿ the dash indicator is yellow. 10. No matter which button I press, I cannot shut of cc. ¿the dash indicator will change from green to yellow and back, but cc never shuts off. 11. Sometimes, I can run my thumb around the buttons in a circle, and cc starts working again, but this does not always work. 12. If I shut off the car, cc will work for a while. 13. If cc stops working as described, and I am on a long trip, it will sometimes start working properly again after some long period of time (30 minutes or so). I have experienced similar problems with the radio controls. I occasionally press the volume control and the station changes. Typically, this only happens once, and when I change the station back to where it was, I am able to adjust the volume again.
