Tl the contact owns a 2016 Mazda Cx-5. While driving 65 mph, there was a popping noise and black smoke coming from the engine compartment. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and heard another popping noise. The contact then noticed flames under the hood. The contact extinguished the fire himself. The vehicle was towed to capitol Mazda (located at 980 capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, CA 95136, (408) 763-4018) where it was diagnosed that the engine block failed and the engine rod was fractured. The dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 1-1844061638. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Mazda engine defect I purchased a 2015 Mazda Cx-5 used two years ago. While my daughter was driving to work she noticed a loud ticking noises from engine. She scheduled a service with Mazda dealership and they stated that the problem is within the internal combustion and the engine needs to be torn down for complete diagnosis, he further suggested that I replace the defective engine with a Mazda new engine totaling over $7000. Alarmed, I researched and found other Mazda owner experiencing the same problems. This constitutes my formal complaint for Mazda defective engines.

Last year just after a month of ownership I was stopped at traffic light. The engine began to race and then slammed so hard the brakes squealed. It felt like I had been rear ended. I put the vehicle into park, shut it off and got out to inspect my vehicle. The person behind me was not close enough to come in contact with my vehicle and there was no damage. My passengers and myself were shocked by the force. I associated this event with the vehicle being brand new and maybe something just got stuck. The SUV at this time has less than 500 miles on it. During this past winter I am starting to notice the vehicle hesitating at times and a strange clunk sound in the rear end. It hesitates often but the clunk sound is random. Again on may 4,2014 I was stopped in traffic on a busy highway and the engine began to race the vehicle then slammed with enough force to make the brakes squeal and jerk the passengers and myself forward. With this now happening a second time I am fearful to drive this vehicle. I do not feel safe.
