When the vehicle light position is on off at night the daytime running lights on the front of the vehicle come on which appear to be the same as the normal headlights, but the back lights are completely out. The brake lights work, but the back tail lights and licence plate light are out. The car's light switch is on the turn signal arm and can be moved inadvertently when using the turn signal. At this point you assume you have all around vehicle lights because the front headlights are on which are really the day time running lights (dtrl). The dtrl are as bright as the normal headlights at night. This gives you the false impression that all of the outside vehicle lights are on. When this happens you are driving with no back vehicle lights which is a major saftey issue.

The lighting system on the 2018 Mazda Cx-5 base sport model has it so that during the daytime, the low beams continuously run. This and the continuously lighted dashboard make it hard to tell when you need to turn on the headlight/tail lights, since the headlights are always on. These arent even side drls, they are full low-beam lights. I've seen many Mazda Cx-5 base models that do not have auto headlights drive around with there without any taillight and makes it dangerous for traffic behind to see the vehicle. Additionally, when others borrow the car, they always never turn on the headlight because there is no indication that anything needed to be turned on unlike older cars where the dashboard is fully black when the headlight/taillight is off.

Headlights are exceptionally dim, especially low beams. Recall for other models within same year not considered valid for this particular car. Ongoing but has gotten worse.
The main display has failed and/or malfunctioned regularly. Lighting systems for vehicle navigation system has been impacted and hud lighting and visibility have been impacted. My safety and the safety of my passengers have been put at risk because of distraction and vehicle navigation malfunctions. The component has not yet been inspected. There were no other problems prior to failure. The first incident of this occurred several months to a year ago. This has been a continuous issue. The date provided below is simply to indicate that this has been occurring for an extended period of time.

My car is experiencing extreme ghost screen. Also when this happens I get a lot of warning lights when nothing is truly experiencing fault. My screen will jump, change settings, reset settings,become dark on it own, not turn on at all, flip through the system causing major distractions. For instance I was driving in my car with quiet no noise then my screen jump and without warning blasted am and scared the living heck out of me while on the highway. It has called people and hung up on its own. Lights flicker and one side of my top lights don't work. My plugin have no electricity coming to them. There are times I have trouble connecting to bluetooth.

We brought our vehicle into Mazda dealer in 2021 for campaign 20v-063(2016 Cx-5 – daytime running lights may fail - safety recall 4320a). Our vehicle had one of the lights completely inoperable and the other flickered intermittently. Upon inspection by the dealer, they only repaired the inoperable light-unit and was unable to replicate the issue with the other light. However, the previously intermittent light is now completely inoperable and the dealer will no longer honor the repair since the campaign is closed. Please advise next steps to facilitate a repair. When driving at night or in diminished lighting, the headlights will turn on but the taillights do not. The taillights will only activate if the headlight switch is moved to the on position. When the headlights activate, it gives the driver the appearance of everything is operating as designed when in fact there are no taillights illuminated.
My vehicle does have an outstanding recall on the headlight. The dealership that was servicing my vehicle closed and said they had completed the recall but had not gotten to it before they closed up. Mazda says it's my problem they did the recall. My light does not work.

In 2020 I was sent a recall notice for my headlights. I took my car into foothills Lincoln Mazda in spokane, wa for the repair. They stated that my headlights were the wrong production dates so they did nothing for the recall yet marked the repair as "completed" according to Mazda. Now both my headlights are having issues with the daylight running lights with one light flickering and the other not working at all. I have checked the documentation that I could find for the recall and found that in the repair procedures for Mazda recall campaign 4320a NHTSA recall #: 20v-063 , it states the VIN number range and production dates effected and my vehicle was in the range for both. I contacted the dealer about this and they told me to contact Mazda customer service. I contacted Mazda customer service and they stated that the repair was marked completed in their system. I sent them documentation showing that the dealer didn't do any repairs. They said that the production dates didn't fit. I showed them my VIN and production dates along with the repair procedure showing that my VIN and dates fit the recall. They then stated that the lights themselves didn't fit. I sent them more pictures illustrating that it did. This process has gone on for two months now and they are saying that it doesn't fit the recall but can provide no documentation to me as to what the effected VIN numbers are or the production dates are that my vehicle doesn't meet. Can someone please assist me with this issue as I have a one year old daughter and I am concerned with the safety of my vehicle?.

By late October 2021, my right light started to flick, then my lower (normal night light) light stopped working.
I received a notice from NHTSA (campaign no. 20v-063) in may 2020 regarding a recall on daytime running lights due a problem with flickering or not lighting at all. A local dealership changed the lights in September 2020 at no charge to me. Now in September 2021 I see that the passenger side drl is flickering constantly.
Led daytime running lights (drls) failing while driving. Recall don for similar vehicles (4320a recall). This could impact the ability for pedestrians or nearby vehicles to see the SUV, particularly in low-light conditions when the low- or high-beam headlights aren't in use.
We have a new 2021 cx5 and the two taillights (the ones that are on top of the backup lights) do not light up. The dealer, napleton Mazda in libertyville, IL, told us that that is normal and those lights are not meant to light up. The dealer said they have many customers bringing their car in for service for the same issue, but it is not something they can fix. At night the car is not as visible as it should be, especially if you are in a dark area and stopped without your foot on the brake. We had the police pull over my daughter in the car saying she had no lights in the rear. This is not on all these models, but we were told this particular model doesn't have the lights, even though the light kits are installed.

The starter ignition button will turn off the engine but fail to turn off the radio and the lights. The only way to turn it off is to repeatedly turn on the ignition button, until it turns off.

Mazda is not fixing a known issue from a recall issued a year ago for daytime running lights. Feb 06,2020 manufacturer recall number4320a NHTSA recall number20v-063 one of my drls has been burned out for over a year. Mazda says they don't have parts available to perform the recall. It has been over a year. Furthermore, the dealer will not promise to prioritize fixing issues on cars where the lights already broken, when the parts become available, which means owners with working lights may get their recall repair before I do, which is certainly a safety issue. What can I do??.
Nearly a year after the initial recall notice, Mazda has not been able to supply the parts to fix recall #20v-063. They send postcards and emails monthly, indicating that I have not yet brought the vehicle in for service. This is untrue, I have tried multiple times to have the defect corrected only to be told parts are not available. Are they complying with their obligations under this recall? I can't help but think they are not being truthful about their failure to provide the required parts.

Vehicle airbag ecu inoperable and flashes fault code, but source of issue can not be found. Mechanic speculates it is either occupant seat sensor issue or computer software issue.
Active recall for day time running lights is not able to be fixed due to Mazda claiming they do not have enough parts to rectify the issue.
Led daytime running lights. 1 is sporadic/ flickering, and the other one is now out/ inoperable, soon the flickering one will go also. Making the vehicle harder to see by other drivers. Mazda has a recall # 4320a but my VIN# is excluded? I have the same parts/ model #s as the recall! an extension of the recall, out to include my VIN# would be appropriate.
Mazda issued a recall in March 2020 for the daytime running lights on this car, the parts required to remedy this situation are backordered, and have been backordered since March. As of today, Mazda is stating that the parts will not be available for 4-5 months! daytime running lights are required to pass the annual virginiastate auto inspection. My inspection is due this month, and Mazda has effectively rendered my vehicle illegal to operate in the state of virginia!.

Recall notice received March 2020. May 5 service call parts not available, emailed 3 more times and still no parts available or contact of any sort without my initiating. Called in September and was told I would get a letter within next month and that parts were still not available. Still no contact from Mazda as of October 15. Somehow they keep manufacturing cars but can't get around to manufacturing recall parts.
