2 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2015 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 07/27/2016

I'm now driving a 2015 Mazda Cx-5 touring and I find the head restraint in my Mazda is angled too far forward and is very uncomfortable, causing neck strain and pain. I like to sit upright in my car and when seated like this the head restraint forces me to angle my head down so I am looking at the dash, not out the windshield. I find that reclining the seat is the only solution but it puts me in a position that is less responsive and more sleep-inducing. Ironically, the NHTSA madate that took effect in 2008 actually makes my Mazda less safe because it forces me to choose between neck strain or sitting in a less responsive, overly-relaxed position just to fix the poorly-designed head restraint angle. I drove a 1994 Toyota camry for about 10 years and it had a head restraint that was adjustable for both angle and height. In 1994! please change the head restraint rules so the angle is adjustable!.

3 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2016 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

Hello, the head restraints on our new Cx-5 are far to forward for proper posture. If we sit upright, the backs of our heads actually touch the head restraint forcing our chins to our neck. I understand the need for good head restraints, but at the cost of proper posture? I see the test dummy biorid has horrible posture with it's head far forward of it's shoulders. This has long term bad effects for your spine to sit like this.

4 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

The front-seat headrests in my vehicle are tilted forward in a way that forces an unnatural seating position. A driver must slouch forward to avoid the headrest, or be forced to tilt his/her head downwards. Both options result in the headrest having significant long-term consequences for the health of the occupant's neck and spine, which ironically are the injuries headrests should be designed to prevent.

5 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2013 Mazda CX-5

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

The driver and passenger head restraints push my head far too forward and downward. Being only 5', I added a seat pad and a lumbar pad, still no help. I have had to turn the head restraint backwards resulting in relieve but won't protect me in an accident.
