1 Air Bag On-off Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Cx-7. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise progressing from the front of the vehicle. The dealer inspected the vehicle eight months prior to the noise was heard and stated that the vehicle could be driven. Upon leaving the dealer, the contact noticed extensive smoke coming from the rear exhaust that affected the contact's visibility. The dealer replaced the turbo, which failed prematurely. In addition, the dealer indicated that they repaired an air bag recall, but the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated near the front passenger side. The contact had to turn the system off with a switch in the glove box due to the failure. The dealer was asked months ago by the contact to complete the repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16v593000 (suspension), but the manufacturer had not yet supplied the remedy and parts to receive the recall repair. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
