My Mazda cx7 - 2008 has only 44,000 miles and the engine light went one and after bringing it to a mechanic and checking the codes with a computer, it came up that the egr valve needs to be replaced. All the mechanics that I talked with were really surprise and asked me if the Mazda cx7 - 2008 has a recall on the egv valve because it is not normal that with that little miles the egr valve need to be replaced. I have checked on the internet and I'm seeing many other owners that are having the same issue. I think there is a factory defect with the egr valve for this model.
As I was driving my Mazda ( with a turbo engine) along the highway it began to decelerate on its own and making a loud knocking/grinding noise. It stopped on the road going up a hill with no turnouts. So it appears that the turbo blew up. It will start, but I cannot go anywhere. I have also had to replace gaskets on my oil filter housing unit, as the stock gaskets were faulty and causing a severe oil leak. Also, my emissions regulation ( egr) valve is bad and therefore will not pass smog. Each of these issues I am seeing more and more complaints about from other owners of the same vehicle. Mazda has made a horribly defective car and refuses to do anything about it except to claim owner negligence. I bought my car with 40k miles on it and it has been falling apart from the start. There is absolutely no excuse and this is not owner negligence, it is Mazda negligence and refusal to make anything right on their completely defective vehicles.
Had to replace the a/c compressor that went bad, was a recall on them but my warranty was out. Then now 11/8/13 I am being told that my egr valve is bad and needs to be replaced and it so happens guess what the emissions warranty has ran out. I have seen a lot of complaints on line about the a/c compressor and now the egr valve.
The vehicle is a 2008 Mazda Cx-7 bought as a pre-owned certified from Mazda dealer in ramsey, NJ. It had the engine light on and I took it immediately to the dealer near my work (colmar, PA) and it was diagnosed with code p0401, egr valve failure. With under 40k I was not expecting this to fail and the repair cost was $718. (diagnosis, parts and labor). I looked up online and saw that it is a frequent issue with people having much newer car than mine. Obviously it was not covered under warranty and I had to pay from my pocket. But I am disappointed with the repair as the next day the brake light came on. It comes on in the morning and stays on intermittently. It finally goes away after 15-20 minutes of driving. I plan to go to the dealer tomorrow to see if this is something that resulted during yesterday's repair.
Check engine light came on took it to dealer. . . Egr value needed to be replaced. . . Warranty was expired. About $700 or part. . . Wondering if there is recall on part. Reading forum and seems to be a problem with others.
The contact owns a 2008 Mazda cx7. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic was performed. The failure was located as the emissions gas recirculation valve. The dealer replaced the egr valve and the failure was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 66,600.
Purchased vehicle used at 41,000 in Mar 2012. First issue: egr valve had to be replaced at 44,000 miles in may 2012, not covered under warranty ("not a California emissions vehicle"). Had 45,000 mile service performed. Dealership service tech also provided service history from previous owner and verified it was serviced regularly. Service tech confirmed this was a known issue with the vehicle, but it was not covered under warranty unless it was a CA emission vehicle. Also not covered under aul extended warranty purchased with vehicle. Cost: $750 to replace egr. Second issue: Dec 2012, 52,000 miles, driving for less than a mile in congested traffic at 15-20mph. Vehicle began spewing white smoke out of exhaust. Immediately pulled off road, called for tow truck. Waited 3 hours with two children under 8. . . Vehicle was taken to same dealership for evaluation/repair. I asked them to evaluate turbo, based on white smoke and slow driving/idle, as consistent with other known issues. Was informed engine mount 3 filled with oil, which coated underside of vehicle, causing smoke. Engine mount failure covered under 60,000 mile factory warranty. Service technician indicated they haven't seen this issue before (however, I see it in several posts online). Service technician commented I was lucky that this did not result in a more catastrophic event (fire, total engine failure). He also commented there is "a lot of stress on mount #3" and it was hard to find the replacement part. He acknowledged turbo issues, but claims my turbo is okay (for now). Mazda needs to recall and fix these well known and documented engine issues (egr valve, engine mounts, turbo chargers, compressors) before there is further loss of vehicles/life. At a minimum, extend the warranty to cover beyond 60,000 miles when so many known issues exist. It will be cheaper than the class action lawsuit underway.
One morning the check engine light turn on, the computer code came back as egr val,I have had this vehicle for over 3yrs this is a pricy part, I have read about this and a lot of people have experience this as soon as they reach the 62k miles this is rediculous. I hope this has nothing to do with a noise that the engin have ever since o bought it which the said it was normal. . . As per the tires I had to replace them as soon as I reached the 1 yr, never will I buy a Mazda again. . . .
The check engine light came on so I took it to the dealership. Turns out the timing chain, gaskets, lock, and bolt, oil pan gasket, and egr valve need to be replaced. The car only has 37,437 miles on it. To have major engine problems is ridiculously unsafe. Mazda has many cases with these same issues and yet has not issued a recall. Even with the warranty covering engine parts/labor it's absurd! they need to be held responsible for selling lemons to the public.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Mazda Cx-7. The contact stated that the check engine warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the egr valve was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 45,900 and the current mileage was 46,000. Kmj.
My check engine light has come on in my 2008 Mazda cx-9. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they advised the egr valve has to be replaced due to it being warn out. Mazda states this part does not fall under emissions warranty. After doing some research, this appears to be a common problem with Mazda's and I don't feel I should be paying $1200. 00 to fix a vehicle that is only two years old. Mazda has been no help just trying extort money from consumers.
