Front suspension ball joint fitting. Water may enter the front suspension ball joint fitting. Driving on roadways during the winter months in areas that use roadway salts can lead to salt and water intrusion into the ball joint causing corrosion. As a result the ball joint loosens and a rattle may occur. Extended operation in this condition will deteriorate the ball joint and the lower control arm could separate. Significant loss of steering control may increase the chance of a fatal crash. At this time we are experiencing a small rattle in the front.

2011 Mazda Cx-7. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair passenger airbag inflator and front lower control arm ball joint recall notices. Consumer has another vehicle complaint in artemis.
There is a recall NHTSA 16v593 regarding the suspension on this vehicle. I own a Mazda cx7 sgt xa with 24,000 miles. Wanted to trade this vehicle in and Acura dealer advised about recall and stated they could not accept as trade until recall is fixed. Contacted Mazda and was advised that the parts are not available to replace the lower control arms. Mazda advised that they will notify me in mid September about implementing a remedy. I am left in the situation that I can not trade in this vehicle should I want to.

On 8/10/16 I received notification number 16v-593 from NHTSA stating that the lower control arms on this vehicle may be defective and should be replaced. Mazda has to this date done nothing to address and remedy this problem.
