I purchased the 2010 Mazda cx7 vehicle about nine months ago. I frequently do not drive the vehicle because I feel it is unsafe under many conditions. The dash lights are inadequate and make it almost impossible to know how fast you are traveling day or night. I am afraid I will be ticketed for traveling too slow or too fast when the instrument panel is so poorly lighted. I have looked at other 2010 and 2011 models, and they are all the same, poorly lighted. I recently spoke to someone with another model who had the same complaint. I feel that it is unsafe and should be recalled. I have no other complaints about the vehicle at this time.

The contact owns a 2011 Mazda Cx-7. The contact stated that the instrument panel lights were not adequately illuminated during daylight. The adjustment for the lighting would not make them brighter and he was unable to distinguish the gauges. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that they could not adjust the lighting any further and later advised that the lights were illuminated according to specifications. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer and a complaint was filed. The current mileage was approximately 2,400 and the failure mileage was 792.

2010 Mazda cx7. Consumer states that the design of the instrument cluster and indicators, in black and white is very poorly designed the consumer stated in bright day light, with brightness control at its top setting, it was still completely dark and it was like looking into a black hole.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Cx-7. While driving at 30 mph, the contact experienced difficulty reading the gauges on the instrument panel in the bright sunlight. The contact also stated that the gauges were difficult to see at night because they were illuminated with a white lighting. Furthermore, the contact stated that the space between the brake pedal and accelerator pedal were too close making it hard to depress the correct pedal while driving. The current mileage was approximately 700. The failure mileage was 414.
On the Mazda cx7 the dash instruments are almost impossible to see if anyone
is wearing sunglasses. Mazda apparently is alert to this as on the most expensive cx7 all the instrument lights are illuminated. This creates an impossible situation in trying to gauge even your speed. I own a cx7 , in florida where you must wear sun glasses, and have been warned about speed. Mazda seems to hold this as an upgrade, which is not right.

Complaint is with the readability of the instrument panel in my car in most daylight conditions. The speedometer, tachometer and odometer and all other dials are un-readable in most daylight situations, which is a safety hazard, as I do not know the speed of the car in most cases when driving during daylight.
