Our vehicle has water drains or "weep" lines for the sunroof. We recently had the electrical system stop/start, dash lights remain on constantly after sitting in the driveway during the rain. We learned that if the drains become blocked that water leaks into the cabin directly onto the body control module (bcm). Because the bcm is not in a sealed or water-proof case, yet is soaked in these conditions, the vehicle is subject to electrical failure as a result. Replacing the bcm costs about $1,000. When we started the car the dash lights that warn of an issue with many of the vehicles safety systems remained on. Others went off and soft of flashed. We could not determine if there was really an issue with all of the components flashing on the dash so we did not want to drive it for fear of an accident. Our vehicle was stationary (thank god). We waited for a while and were able to leave for home, but this condition is clearly a huge safety risk.
My vehicle bcm (body control module) have gone haywire for the second time this year. My dashboard warning signals appeared as I was driving locally. All gauges will drops down to zero, dash board warning lights will begin flashing off and on, my emergency lights will become disabled and there have been two occasions when my car refused to start. I started to notice that when the "at" light and the traction control symbol light are on the vehicle speed will not accelerate to the speed for which I'm pressing the gas. My initial takeoff is very slow. After the first no start I had my vehicle towed home and had to get a rental for a few days. This issue is currently ongoing after I made a service appointment with Mazda, I also ended up driving the car in this condition to the dealership to see if I could get service started early and they weren't able to service me because they didn't have a loaner vehicle. I told them that I couldn't leave the car for this is my only transportation and I need a car to go back to work on Friday. I was told that a lady should be bringing back a car the following day (thrusday) around noon if not they should have one on Friday. Friday came no call from them, I called several times to only have my calls forward to a voicemail. So I called the parts dept. Told the person that answered that I was trying to contact someone in service regarding bringing in my vehicle for service. The part dept. Manager answered the phone and I told him who I am and he indicated again we don't have any loaner vehicle at this time, we should have one on Monday, we have a couple of people getting recall parts replace and the parts are on back order. So now its Monday the car is still unserviced and I just called to get the same response from the service dept. , we have no loaner vehicle at this time. It should be recalled or the housing unit. It's dangerous!.
This incident happened on 31st July, when my wife was driving this car on highway 4 martinez, CA at around 5. 00 pm with our daughter (2 years old) returning from daycare. She was driving at approx 60 mile/hr, when the car started giving audio visual warnings on multiple failures and the car started slowing down without responding to the gas pedal and engine propulsion reduced to 'zero'. My wife panicked and was luckily able to pull over on the curb side safely, even though traffic was very high. She stopped the car and turned off the engine and waited for 10 mins and restarted the car multiple times and made sure that no more warnings are displayed, before driving again, however the 'engine warning light' stayed on. After a while she drove home almost 40 miles away very carefully without using any cruise control. Here are the warnings, that came on during this failure, pictures attached. Engine malfunction light. Tire pressure indicator. Stability control indicator. Temperature indictor cruise control failure warning message front radar sensor system malfunction warning message forward Smart city break malfunction after a day we dropped the car to Mazda dealership for inspection and they found multiple failure codes and they did necessary repair (inspection and repair invoice attached). Even before this incident , we reported multiple times to dealership that the car central information system abruptly shuts down during drive. But they always said that there was no problem. This incident on a freeway was very serious, my family or other drivers could have been in a injury accident because of this issue with Mazda.
The front brakes make a grinding noise when repeatedly applying the brakes when going downhill or slowing repeatedly from speeds of 65 or so. I believe the brake parts become hot and create something google searches call "judder". I have had the steering will start shaking as well. After repeated requests to Mazda corporate and visits to two dealers, Mazda claims the brakes work as designed. One service manager at browning Mazda stated the front rotors are too small to stop a car of this weight, but this statement is not written. Regarding the vehicle stability control, when I turn left and go downhill from my driveway at a slow speed of approx 10mph, I usually have no throttle control. I need to apply the brakes to regain any control of the throttle. Once again two dealers tell me this is within design specs. Maybe this is true, however, I have no way to immediately get out of the way of other cars as I have to brake first for the throttle to return. Doesn't seem right to me. Also, my combined mpg is about 13. 7 when Mazda states it should be about 18. How can they make such a claim like this and get away with it. It is not just my cx-9, many people complain on the internet. Again, Mazda states the car is within specs.
Had a problem a few years ago related to the traction control system as indicated by the warning light appearing on the dash. Dealer contacted the warranty department to file a claim and said that is would not be covered under warranty because they felt it was due to dirt and not a faulty sensor. The dealer never confirmed one or the other. Second issue is related to a hissing noise coming from the break peddle. Research suggested Mazda was investigated by NHTSA back in 2014 and instead of a recall, Mazda issued and extended warranty for 7 years or 90k miles. Unfortunately my vehicle is within the 7 years but not the 90k. I am currently at 97k miles. Still waiting to see if Mazda will cover the repair or at least discount it.
Takata recall received a letter on March 2017 called dealer number of times they keep giving me the run a round. As to when this air bag problem will be taken care of??? I take my grandchildren to & from school & am concerned appreciate any help you can provide. R.
We bought our car on a dealer in mesa, it was stationary. After we bought it we noticed locks moving on their own windows rolling down so did the moon roof. When we turn off the engine the a/c turns on even though the car is turned off. The car locks itself leaving us outside. We had problems with the tires they keep loosing up making the car vibrate and making sounds like banging on the tires.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Mazda cx-9. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the excelerator pedal was depressed however the vehicle failed to move forward. The front driver and passenger wheels spun but failed to move the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage is approximately 92,000. Gl.
Brakes prematurely failed after feeling numb and squishy. Upon diagnostic by a local mechanic, it was determined that the brake master cylinder had a leak. In addition, the abs, traction control and emergency brake lights came on when the symptoms were present. Estimated cost of repair $1250.
On 24 July 2015, while driving home from work, the driver in front of me executed an emergency braking to avoid a collision which caused me to do the same. From the moment I tried to actuate the brake pedal, it felt as if the pedal was in the floor and immovable. Little, if any, brake force was applied and required both feet with all the power of my legs to get even a small amount of braking. I had to immediately dive into the median at speeds of 60-65 mph to avoid hitting the car in front of me. This caused two tires to have to be replaced. When I left my parking garage and all the way to the freeway, braking was normal. No dash lights were active nor are they now. The issue persists now and driving the vehicle is not an option.
I have not had a accident yet, however since I purchased the car new I have had trouble with the front brakes, especially the right wheel. The dealer say there is nothing wrong and I have complained about this issue several times at regular service. I know something is wrong, the pedal fades and there is a grinding and sometimes hissing noise from the front right. It needs to be corrected by the dealer before something really bad happens.
Vehicle was parked. The tailgate was opened manually. I was moving items around in the trunk to make room for new purchases. My husband did not see that I was moving items in the trunk. He approached the drivers side of the vehicle and pressed the power tailgate button inside the vehicle and the tailgate began to close. It made contact with the back of my neck and pushed my face down into the floor board. The sensors did not work. When the tailgate made contact with me it pushed down harder and faster instead of going back up to open. This caused a serious injury to my neck. Specifically cervical 5-7 had to be surgically fused with a titanium plate and screws, and my spinal cord had to be decompressed as the discs had compressed my spinal cord and could have caused complete paralysis from my neck down.
I purchased a new Mazda cx 9 in the fall of 2010. After a few months, I noticed the traction control "tcs off" button illuminated while driving up a paved incline. After turning off the engine and restarting, the tcs-off button shut off. This happened a couple of times before my first servicing. I mentioned the issue to the Mazda dealership when I went in for regular servicing. They checked it and said they found no problem with it. Yet the problem continued sporadically. The tcs-off light occasionally illuminates on inclined roads, in rain or snow, when driving from a paved to an unpaved road (or vice versa). Still the dealership found no problems during servicing. Now in the third year of driving, I mentioned the tcs again to the dealership, and this time they said, OH yes, it is a problem. . Mazda released a bulletin about it, saying the tcs needs to be repaired for $340, and the car shouldn't be driven until it's repaired. Yet this is the condition I've always driven it in! and of course, now my warranty has expired, and I'm liable for repairs even though this problem existed right from the very beginning. The dealership has said they'd put in a call, and perhaps Mazda will cover at least part of the cost. If it had been repaired under warranty, I wouldn't be liable for the repair and I wouldn't have to pay for the rental car while I'm waiting. I'll see how it pans out. Very frustrating.
Mazda 2007 cx-9 fwd touring model does not operate in snow causing safety concern. If tires start to spin the tcs system shuts off the fuel injectors if the car is going over I think 9 mph. You can shut off the tcs but it automatically engages over 9 mph. What this means is that if you are on a road even with a small amount of snow the car comes to a halt causing a serious safety concern. I have been close to being hit multiple times. There were two instances in 1 inch of snow where I had to park the car because I could not get up minor hills. Most cars have the ability to shut off the tcs system but the Mazda system automatically engages as I said above. Please help.
