36 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The dash on my vehicle has melted and become shiny and hard to see when driving. It appears this is a known issue and Mazda has "extended" the warranty on the dash, however since my car has a "branded title" from hail damage this excludes my vehicle. Also the issue is outside the 10 year extended warranty. This is a known issues and is listed on the Mazda website. Multiple people have the same issue. After contacting Mazda they will not replace the dash. Since this is a known issue and safety hazard I believe it should be a recall vs them extending the warranty to save costs on not having to replace certain vehicles. Https://insidemazda. Mazdausa. 37 Body problem of the 2018 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/12/2018

I was driving on a very quiet boulevard in niagara falls, NY. I was there on a family trip when all of the sudden we heard multiple very loud noises coming from the top of our car, especially the last one which sounded like an explosion. The sunroof or our 6-month old 2018 Mazda 3 had just exploded! we parked to check whether an object had fallen into the car but could not find anything, thankfully the inside sunroof blind was shut because many of us could have gotten injured from glass pieces flying everywhere inside the car otherwise. Now, two days after the incident, our Mazda dealership is claiming that an object must have hit the car and say that we need to speak to our insurance. They do not want to do anything about it when it is very clear that it is a manufacturing problem that could get other people injured in the future. One of the reasons I am absolutely positive that this is a manufacturing issue is because we heard another very loud noise and the hole got substantially bigger while passing by the same boulevard later that night, my wife lost control of the car for a moment as it happened. This is a very serious and scary situation, we have spoken with Mazda customer experience as well as with the dealership and nobody wants to take responsibility even when there is a consumer reports article on this and 9 different reports on this issue for Mazda3 vehicles.

38 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

While driving home from work today, a loud noise sounding like a gunshot came from inside of my car and caught me of guarding causing me to swerve to the side of the road. As I regain control of the car, I saw pieces of unknown debris slide down the back of my rear window. Luckily there was no other cars around me. I continued home since it was about another 2 mile down the road. After arriving home I inspected the car and noticed that the sunroof had exploded outward and had shattered everywhere. The pieces of debris I saw was in fact pieces of shattered glass. At first I though that something went through the glass but I could not find any evidence of an object such as a rock that penetrated the glass. Also the glass was shattered outwards indicating that it exploded from the inside out. This happen on a clear sunny day with temps around 84 degree. I was driving about 35 to 40 mph along a straight stretch of rural road. At the time of the incident there were no cars within 200+ yards of mine.

41 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Over time, the entire dashboard has begun to develop deep cracks. On the passenger side, these cracks are where the airbag is located. It is very concerning, as it is not clear whether the airbag would function properly in case of an accident due to this defect in the dashboard. These cracks have become worse over the past few months and consistently spread.

42 Body problem of the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/30/2017

The hood of my car collapsed into an enormous dent while parked in a private garage. When I went to to a body shop to get it fixed, I was shown that the metal is very flimsy from the bottom of the hood. When the gentleman dropped the hood back down to close it, the dent almost entirely popped out on its own.

47 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/14/2017

Recall 16v-644 issued September 6 of 2016. Now, 8 months later, there are still 'limited' parts available to implement the recall and I am unable to have the recall completed on my affected vehicle. I believe this indicates that Mazda is not resolving the recall in a timely manner.

48 Body problem of the 2017 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/11/2017

Windshield has multiple ripples from the driver and passenger side pillars to 6 inches in. This condition causes eye strain while driving. I have to look out of the side window to clear/ reset my eyes, then, look though the rippled windshield. This issue has been going on since day 1 (2 months in) and no resolution. Potential cause for accident due to having to not face forward. Issue occurs at any stage of operation, day time is worse than night. Weather conditions no not change issue.

49 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

I entered my car first thing in the morning (after a fairly cold night). The car was stationary overnight sitting in my driveway. I looked over to my left and on the dashboard of the passenger side, there was an crack about 6-7 inches long on top of where the airbag sits. In the light, it appears that the crack will spread to the left and grow substantially in length/width. I am very concerned that this could potentially become an inhibitor to making the passenger function properly.

52 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 10/16/2016

I received a safety recall regarding lift gate dampers back in October 2016. I called to check on it and gunther Mazda service dept did not have the part available. Went for an unrelated problem in December to have it diagnosed and I figured since I was going to be without a car for a day or two, I might as well take care of the recall. They still did not have the part, they told me to call back in February. I am not sure how long after a recall is a manufaturer supposed to provide with a solution, but 4 months seems long. I have not have a problem with the gate, but I don't want to wait until I have it or ignore the recall either.

Passenger headlamp getting excessive condenstation build up after car wash or rain storm eventually causes hid bulb and ballast failure due to short caused by water ingress. Housing has been changed and still leaks in almost exact same pattern as old housing. 64 Body problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

On the dashboard in the center front windshield area, part of the car seems to have come detached. There is a large gap above the ventilation/radio and it seems to continue pulling further away. I am not sure if it is directly affecting the ventilation/air system but I was hearing some strange noises. It has been happening for a while (approx. 3+ years) but continues too progressively worsen.

65 Body problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 07/04/2016

About a year ago, I had to replace my tires at just under 30,000 mi because the treads wore improperly. Fast forward a few months, my axle wore out and had to be replaced. However, the real problem comes when about 3 weeks ago, I was driving at about 75 miles an hour on a major highway, four lanes of traffic, and the engine starts jumping. The rpms go up and down, but the car won't accelerate. I get the car to the side of the road on pure momentum. The car then turns completely off with the key in the on position, but not lights come on. I remove the key, wait 5 minutes and the car turns back on. It died again a few min later so I have it towed to a mechanic, who can't find anything wrong. 5 min after leaving the mechanic's shop, my car starts jumping again; I barely made it back. The mechanic is at a loss and recommends the dealership since there are no codes. The dealer gets it and works with it for a few days and says that the mass air flow sensor (mafs) was clogged, which was turning off the car, and the bearings were also causing problems because they were worn out (from the axle being improperly installed). They replaced the bearings, cleaned the mafs, and reset the computer, under the warranty, and told me my car was ok. 2 days later, I'm driving on a major highway again and the car starts jumping again. I was able to barely make it out of traffic before the car died again. The car starts up again 5 min later and I take about 10 min to get to safety as this repeats. The dealer has my car for almost 3 wks, Mazda's field engineers get involved, they-checked the fuel components, the computer, filters etc, and then Mazda recommends checking the wiring harness. A clip had broken above the axle on the engine that allowed the wiring to wear out. They had to redo the wiring in a different way so it wouldn't wear--this seems like it has happen to others w/o resolution.

Airbag not inflate at the accident but inflated after 2 nf injuries . Persons hurt by steering wheel.

68 Body problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

The driver's seat frame breaks resulting in the driver of the vehicle to rock backwards with the seat when the vehicle is in forward motion. The car becomes uncontrollable when the seat rocks back causing the driver to hold themselves upright trying to drive the vehicle. The seat exhibits characteristics that can only be called unsafe. This defect will ultimately result in a serious accident with injury or death. The vehicle was parked when this was first noticed. The defect with the seat frame also renders the seat belt useless and is safety hazard compounded by the seat frame breaking loose. This defect appears to happen only on the 2010 Mazda 3 model and there are many additional complaints, both here and in public forums. Mazda needs to recall for replacement of a seat frame that is built so as not to break in normal use. Why this has not happened is negligent. My local Mazda dealer gave me an estimate of $980. 00 to repair the seat frame. The manager was not willing to negotiate the cost of the repair nor willing to discuss further.

69 Body problem of the 2015 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

I have filed this claim because the car in mention has been repaired by Mazda for failures in the door latching-locking system on three (3) separate occasions on different doors since I purchased it and it is currently showing signs of failure on one of the doors that was not affected before. I no longer consider the vehicle safe to drive and I strongly believe that failures of this nature may cause accidents with catastrophic injuries to the driver and to others. As a Mazda customer, car owner and engineering professional, I'm extremely concerned when I contemplate the possibility that this might not be an isolated case and that other Mazda owners might be driving unsafe vehicles. I have also started a claim with the bbb auto line case maz1714424 where I pursue repurchase of the vehicle by Mazda among other items.

70 Body problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

Car accident going around 60mph on a highway, hit guardrail head on due to black ice and rain, spinning twice hitting guardrails again front and back multiple times, not a single airbag deployed. Thank goodness for the seatbelt as I'm sure death would have occurred if that failed too. Going through the insurance process now and will have more pictures and police report in hand shortly. I thought my wife and kids were in a safe car. . . I guess not.
