My 2014 Mazda3 is leaking from a seam in the fuel tank. There is an existing campaign for other 2014 Mazda3s #16v684000 but my VIN apparently is not caught in that campaign. Seems highly suspect that some vehicles of the same year were missed when developing the campaign. My vehicle is on the lift now and my mechanic is watching fuel drip from the seam in the tank. Note this is happening with a full tank of fuel, when vehicle is stationary. After parking there is distinct fuel order emanating from the rear of the vehicle.

Fuel filler line leak. When gas tank is full fuel leaks from small whole in line that goes into gas tank. My mechanic says it is where the line is welded to gas tank has broken the Mazda service manager tells me it's not an issue that Mazda will fix, even though it is a safety issue. My mechanic says that this is an issue with the 2013 models, so if the same thing happens to a 2012 model why it not be repaired by maxda?.

When I fill my gas tank, gasoline gushes or spurts out when the tank is full. I know normally the gas pump shuts off automatically when tank is full. The automatic shutoff when fueling does not work. Gas always overflows (regardless of what gas station I go to or if I hold the pump when fueling). It is a major overflow. Not a little gas comes out, a lot comes out, and forcefully. I cannot fill my tank more than 10 gallons. Gas will literally shoot out around the pump. Fuel has hit my legs and feet several times. The car is always turned off with the key removed from the ignition when fueling.
Fueling car and pump auto-shutoff did not work causing gasoline to overflow the tank and spill on the ground. Was not holding the handle or attempting to top-off the tank. Experienced same issue one week later with 2016 Mazda6 at a different location.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Mazda 3. The contact stated that an strong smell of fuel was noticed from the vehicle every time the fuel tank was filled. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed but the failure cause was not made know to the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 15v621000(fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200. Jo.
There was a strong fuel smell that was occurring on both the inside and outside of my car every time I filled my car up. I took to my the mechanic and it was found my fuel tank was leaking in 2 spots. One was part of the gas tank that vents the fumes - that seal was leaking and the other was part of the locking ring that is on the gas tank itself was cracked.

Purchased as new vehicle. From the time of purchase I smelled gasoline in garage after parking overnight. After 1,000 miles/3 months the gas smell became increasingly stronger and gas mileage plummeted from 30 mpg to 18 mpg. Took the car to the dealer for repair. They said the seams of fuel tank were leaking--entire tank had to be replaced; not safe to drive.
I was driving slowly in traffic when I noticed a large white spider about the size of my thumb come out of the dashboard (where the mpg display is located). The following morning, I noticed another spider on my dashboard near the vent at the very front. Both spiders looked exactly like the white sac spiders described in the Mazda 6 recall. I took it to the dealer today to have them look at it because I am concerned about the problems these spiders are known to cause in the fuel tank. Mazda refused to look at my car stating that my model wasn't part of the recall and therefore it was not their problem. Granted my model is not on the recall list, I am still having the same issue as the recalled vehicles. I asked them to write, sign and date a paper stating that they are declining to look into my car's problem in the off chance that something happens. I want to be sure that Mazda is held liable for refusing to even look at my fuel tank.
The contact owns a 2009 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that spiders were all over the vehicle. The contact did research and found that Mazda recalled the 2009 Mazda6 under NHTSA campaign id number: 11v134000 (fuel system: gasoline: storage tank assembly) which stated that a certain type of spider could weave a web inside the fuel canister. The contact stated that the same spider was in their vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the 2009 Mazda was not included in the recall and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 30,000.
