Mon-7/10/2023 used the car. Tues 7/11/2023 attempted to use my car opened the door on the drivers side-saw a bizarre position of the seat. It had somehow migrated during the night to approx 4” from the steering wheel when I try to get into the seat my chest stomach area is an inch away can’t reach the pedals very well because my right knee is up against the dashboard. Took the car to the dealership the man in charge told me there’s nothing they could do the car is too old. He told me to take it to an independent repair shop to get the parts from junk yard. Said he would have to cut the bolts on the seat track said he couldn’t do that. Please see the photos and video.

For the seat belt it does not retract back and there was no issue before. It suddenly stopped working and all of the seatbelt is out. This is a safety issue for anyone sitting in the front passenger seat. For the unknown part the button in the trunk to pull the back passenger seats down suddenly stopped working and no issues before then. I’m more concerned with the seat belt because this is a huge safety concern and issue. The seatbelt does not retract at all, leaving it completely extended and unusable. This issue occurred without any prior incident, accident, or external damage—it simply stopped working. This failure poses a serious safety risk, as the seatbelt cannot properly restrain a passenger in case of a sudden stop or crash. I have checked for recalls on my vehicle but found none related to this issue. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue, as it may indicate a manufacturing defect. If necessary, I would also like to request a recall or manufacturer repair program to address this safety concern.
The latches inside the driver's seatbelt receptacle feel like they wear out over time. The only reason I can tell is because there is a really noticeable creaking that develops from inside the receptacle while the seatbelt is connected. This is worse for drivers with bigger waists and as the driver's waist continues to tug on the seatbelt during operation, the creaking gets worse over time. There are no electronic warnings. The seatbelt still properly connects and there are no electronic messages saying that anything is wrong with the seatbelt. My driver's original seatbelt receptacle has already been replaced once under warranty at a Mazda dealership. Now the second seatbelt receptacle is starting to do the same thing again after about 6 months of use. I fear that even if I get it replaced a second time, this will just continue to happen. Perhaps there is a manufacturing defect. As this issue continues to get worse, I fear that this creaking will develop into a major failure with the seatbelt connection itself.

I was rear ended while at complete stop by someone going over 40mph on 12/19/22. My airbags did not deploy and my seat belts did not lock out. Directly after being hit my phone flashed a safety fracture malfunction on the dash board and then sent the notification to the Mazda app on my phone.

On 8/11/2022, my car indicated a message on my dashboard that said “air bag system malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected. ” I also received a safety & security message in my inbox on my app that stated “air bag system and seat belt pre-tensioner system malfunction. Vehicle airbags and seat belt pre-tensioner may not operate correctly in an emergency. Have the vehicle inspected by your dealer. ” this message was received multiple times. I called the dealer and they weren’t sure what it meant so I took it to them on October 6, I dropped off my car at the dealer. They called me a few hours later and told me that my car was not safe to drive because the airbag and seat belts weren’t working. Fortunately they had a rental for me, however, today is 11/10/2022 and I still don’t have my car back. They stated that it may take up to 6 weeks to get the parts in. And this dealer has never seen anything like this before.
Purchased vehicle new at dealership April 15th 2022 w/ 17 miles on the odometer. After 500 miles on the odometer, began receiving multiple daily warnings through the mymazda app indicating airbag/seat belt pretensioner malfunction. Subsequently noticed the same warning lit up on the dash while driving for approximately 10 seconds and then light went out. Discovered technical service bulletin dated 317/2022 08-001/22 indicating this a known problem for Mazda 3 vehicles between 2019 and 2022. Showing design flaw in path layout for wire harness connecting to side airbag module in seat back. Recommends modifying plastic module cover by removing several inches of plastic, several inches of foam padding, and pinning section of wire harness to steal seat frame with plastic grommet. This is a clear safety hazard concern that should have been addressed before I was allowed to drive the vehicle away from the dealership. Mazda's position is not to address the issue until they receive a customer complaint. If I had been in an accident I may have been severely injured or killed because of this malfunction.
Hello, I bought my 2022 Mazda 3 sedan in February of 2022. I’ve had my car for a total of 5 months. From the very first month I bought my car I’ve had problems with the “air bag / seat belt pre tensioner. ” I have seen this issue appear on my dashboard as well as my Mazda app to give me warnings numerous times I can’t keep track. I have taken my vehicle to my Mazda dealership a total of 7 times for this same issue “air bag/seatbelt pre tensioner” and yet to have my car fixed. Every time I take my car into the dealership service they claim the issue has been fixed and it has not been till this day. I decided to do my own research on my vehicle and seen so many complaints throughout the internet regarding the same issue on my model 3 sedan. These issues have been happening from previous models of the company vehicles. The service department and corporate are well aware of my issue and say I’m not the first customer with this type of complaint. This issue on the Mazda 3 sedan needs to be investigated as this is a huge safety issue for customers. We shouldn’t have to pay the price as the buyer. Thank you.
Apparently all of sudden the front occupants seat belt had lock and malfunctioning to the point you are unable to pull the belt strap to securely wrapped around the passenger, took it to have it evaluated at the request of the auto maker, supposedly this what I understood from two separate auto repair shops ( Mazda) dealership and a reliable auto repair (apex) shop stating that a spring loaded system mechanism part was actually missing and that the standard mechanical labor (code) cost for the repair were not (unknown) listed while the other suggested the whole seat belt needed to be replaced I strongly feel this should be a safety related issue for both the driver and passenger seat belts should be recalled and carefully looked into for driver/passenger safety reasons.
All my seatbuckels are tearing. I thought it could of been my dog, but I a certain I did not give up my seat or let him drive. My driver side is also tearing. I noticed the buckle catching when securing it, and now it has moved past snag and had a quarter inch tear that it catches on. The buckle is not wide enough for the belt. The belt is no longer able to constraint as good as when it was whole. Unknown.

I purchased a 2013 Mazda 3 in March or 2020 with about 35000miles. About two months later I put down my back seats for the first time and noticed the middle seat buckle was fringed and looked cut about a half of inch in. It could not retract due to the buckle snagging on the cut. It is November 2020 and I have now descoveres that this same thing has happened to the driver and front passenger buckles as well. I rarely have anyone in my back seat, maybe twice since the purchase, so the buckles are not frequently used. I think something is cutting the belt causing the buckles to stop retracting- rendering them useless. My car has 49000miles now. I discovered all of the belts while stationary. But the drivers one would not retract causing me to look for it.
Motor cylinder #1 low compression took it to Mazda they couldnt figure it out and less than 20 miles after the motor threw a rod at 70,001 miles total. Cylinder 1 walls where not made correctly.

The driver's seat frame breaks resulting in the driver of the vehicle to rock backwards with the seat when the vehicle is in forward motion. The car becomes uncontrollable when the seat rocks back causing the driver to hold themselves upright trying to drive the vehicle. The seat exhibits characteristics that can only be called unsafe. This defect will ultimately result in a serious accident with injury or death. The vehicle was parked when this was first noticed. The defect with the seat frame also renders the seat belt useless and is safety hazard compounded by the seat frame breaking loose. This defect appears to happen only on the 2010 Mazda 3 model and there are many additional complaints, both here and in public forums. Mazda needs to recall for replacement of a seat frame that is built so as not to break in normal use. Why this has not happened is negligent. My local Mazda dealer gave me an estimate of $980. 00 to repair the seat frame. The manager was not willing to negotiate the cost of the repair nor willing to discuss further.
The contact owns a 2006 Mazda 3. While at a stop, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy and the driver, front passenger, and rear passenger seat belt restraints failed to retract. The driver, the front passenger, and the rear passenger sustained injuries to the head. The front passenger and rear passenger required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

I was in a rear end collision with the Mazda, and was hit at 50mph speed by a drunk driver while stopped at a traffic light. The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, so did not break prior to the collision. During the collision, the air bags did not deploy, nor did the seat belt catch me, and I hit the steering wheel with full strentgh, causing damage to the right side of my face where I had hit with eye damage, and soft tissue damage all over the face with nurve numbeness on the whole left side. Of concern is why none of the safety features of a 2 month old vehicle did not deploy during a high impact crash.

My wife and I bought a brand new Mazda 3 I-touring edition in 2013. On approximately 10/10/2014 she picked up our 10 year old boy and when he tried to buckle the seatbelt it did not work. After several attempts my wife then got in the passengers side to see if she could get it buckled. She could not. At this point she also noticed the passenger side airbag had disengaged, even with her in the front seat. Being well over the minimum weight to activate we knew this was not the problem with the airbag. Upon researching the internet it has come to my attention that there are many cases of others with the same problem. All of which were turned down by Mazda for any kind of remedy. I spoke with jeff, a service advisor for nelson Mazda in tulsa, ok, and when asked if there was anything they could do with out charging me because of the severity of the safety issues this problem causes he basically just said no. I did buy the car at another dealer but live too far away to set up anything with them. I thought maybe one Mazda dealer would stand up for another just to make a good showing for the Mazda name. I guess I was wrong.
The seat belt just stopped locking in place, completely stopped. It won't click into place therefore I can't wear the seat belt. Which means I shouldn't even drive my car to the dealership to have them fix it!.
The passenger seat belt had a tensioner that was broken from either right off the dealer's lot or shortly after. Under hard braking, my wife hit the dashboard inside the car once as a passenger. I should have brought it in earlier. I just brought it in today (6/20/2017) to the Mazda dealer (putnam Mazda in burlingame, CA) and they discovered the seatbelt's tensioner is broken internally. They are replacing it, though the part is backordered until July. There is reasonable suspicion to believe more than my vehicle may have been affected.
Rear seat belts not secured. Rust and corrosion at door openings. Rear trunk lift - local dealer never has the part to fix it as required in recall.
My boyfriend was in a roll over accident where the airbag sensors were completely ripped off along with the bumper and the airbags did not deploy and the seatbelt did not lock up until he came to a stop.

Starting about a month after we bought the car we noticed that the indicator light for the passenger side air bag would sometimes light up indicating that the passenger side airbag was deactivated. We stop the car and exited the vehicle and reentered the vehicle and the light started to work properly. Over the next several days we noticed that the issue was happening more often. We took the car to brown¿s Mazda in alexandria. After checking the car out they said there was nothing wrong with the car. On Tuesday September 2, 2014 about 10 days after having the car serviced my wife and I was driving on a level city street around 5:48 pm, at that time the indicator light was off, which would indicate that the airbag and active restraints are on and that the car recognizes that there is an adult in the passenger side seat. A car pulled out from a side street in to traffic causing us to hard brake in order to avoid the accident. My wife that was in the passenger seat was thrown forward as if she did not even have a seat belt on, the active seat restraint did not tighten at all. The passenger side airbag light that was off was now on indicating that the airbag and restraint system was off. She was shaken but thankfully not harmed. Again we took it to the dealership and they have said that there is nothing they can do to fix it¿s just part of the design and that people my wife size should not use the car. I am very concerned about driving the car, because there is no way to predict when the airbag will decide to deactivate leaving the passenger at risk of injury if there were a crash or rollover.
We were in a few accidents and the airbag never deployed and the transmission is not functioning properly after an oil change the car does not stay in park we must use the emergency brake and cannot turn off the car because when we turn it off the gear will not shift to drive and as we drive the car the car will turn off right there. Seatbelt stopped working on driver side.
