1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Just like all the online discussion boards indicate, my driver's headlight does not turn on regularly. Once I could fix it by hitting on the headlight assembly, but now that does not work any more. Bulb is fine.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Headlight harness comes loose frequently, resulting in loss of headlight. Must either hit the headlight forcefully or manually secure headlight by removing wheel well. Hundreds of people on youtube have reportedly experienced the same defect. Uncertain whether this occurs while stationary or moving, but imagine vibration from motion will knock it loose again. This photo was taken after manually adjusting the right headlight via the harness in order to turn it back on. The right light is dimmer than the left, suggesting a ground issue.

The driver's side high beam headlight has gone out. Hitting in makes the light turn on again, but it goes out within a few minutes.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

Discovered excessive condensation following the outage of the right passenger low beam headlight. Outage to the headlight renders the vehicle unsafe and unfit for driving in situations that require usage of headlights until repaired. Condensation also observed in driver headlamp, however light is still currently functioning. Resulting damage includes replacement of entire headlight structure and components due to water related damage and subsequent headlight failure.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2012

Shortly after I purchased my vehicle (used) I noticed that my headlight on the passengers side was dimmer than the the other and while is was driving, the light would go on and off, I figured it just needed to be replaced, but if you bumped the light it would come back on and work for a few days and again would go through the same thing over again, this became to be a safety issue to me because I work at night and with this issue happening intermittently I figure id change the bulb and hope for the best. Buib changed same issue continued, I researched this on numerous sights to see that other Mazda owners where going thru the same problem, edmonds had people on their sight with the same issue, headlights are on the top for safety if you cant see or be seen the worst can happen. Help us Mazda6 owners.

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

The entire passenger side dashboard is gooey, sticky black. If you touch it it gets all over your hands, and everything will stick to it. It appears to be melting away. This started a few years ago. Recently I noticed the rear headlights look as if they are warped from the inside, as if it was a melted candle.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Both headlights at different times have gone out, been replaced and go out again within a few weeks of replacing the bulb. If you bang on or hit the headlight it may come back on. Have replaced the drivers side 4 times in one year. Hitting bumps in the road may bring the bulb on or off also.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2010

New hid headlamps have very little light to see above a certain height depending on road terrain. As example when going downhill you cannot see the lanes in upcoming uphill grades. The lack of elimination in the area above the horizontal projection, prevents seeing road signs, lane changes, and pedestrians if you are traveling at a downhill angle on your approach. My car, 2009 Mazda 6, has adjustment to raise projection depending on weight of passengers in back seat, but these new lights in my opinion are still unsafe when driving at night. I spoke to service department at dealer to inquire about possibly changing out these lights for some other type, but he said he had same problem when driving his vehicle at night. This headlight design is being added to more vehicle makes and is making night driving a safety issue that needs to be addressed for all new cars using this design. These new headlamps are worthless on hilly terrain. Since the service department person agreed and there is no apparent fix, I believe this will result in more night accidents.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

There seems to be an issue with the low beam headlight assemblies in the 2009 Mazda6 vehicles. I have had both low beam headlights go out on me on two occasions while driving down the road. Once both lamps needed to be replaced, the second time banging on the light cover got them to work again. I was told by the service manager at Mazda to just bang on the light cover with my hand and it should come back on. The driver side headlight goes out often and to get it to come back on I have to bang on the light cover. I've put about 12 bulbs in the car. You find similar incidents on the web in Mazda forums. .
