1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 03/19/2021

Related to Mazda recall number 2818i - front frame rotting out. They applied a bandaid fix under the recall, to only 1 side of the vehicle and the part they used does not even connect to the actual suspension pieces that are rotting out of the frame. It is basically a plate to keep the rotting frame from separating completely on only 1 side. The problem is the entire frame is still rotting at a crazy excessive rate. I have had many used, older vehicles and have never seen a car so new almost rendered undrivable due to the frame condition. My mechanic said it should have all been replaced given how much corrosion/rust is on the entire frame instead of only a bracket on one side. . . And the fix they performed is nothing more than a liability treatment to keep the car from completely falling apart and killing someone when the frame fails on that side. The frame was left in place and is rotting faster than I have even seen on a vehicle especially at less than 10years old and less than 100k miles. Nhtsa needs to follow up on this recall as some dealers are doing the bear minimum to 'fix' the issue instead of replacing the frame as they should be. . . . Some of the cars were newer and were not yet experiencing the heavy rust at the time of the recall but fast forward a year or two and the entire frame is nearly junk covered by a fancy metal plate on only 1 side that is simply intended to keep the rotting frame from separating and nothing else. . . It didn't at all 'fix' the problem. I cannot submit pics right now, but given this is related to a previous recall not sure it is necessary. . . Look into how they are 'bandaiding' some of the 2013's while replacing the entire frames on 2011's. . . It's not even close to the same repair and the 'bandaid' fix does nothing to address the actual problem of premature rot on the frame. I can send an example of both upon request.

7 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

Mazda will only replace dashboards for melting and sticky dashboards. They know there is a problem with the material used. They will not replace dashboards that are cracking . My concern is the cracking is over passenger side airbag. I fell this could be a problem. The airbag should not be compromised and contained in a faulty cracked dash. I believe Toyota and Lexus had the same problem but they owed up to it and replaced dashboards that were melting and cracking. Mazda refuses.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/26/2018

Bought 2009 Mazda 6 brand new. Car has 140,000 miles well maintained. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision with a truck pulling a trailer. The truck was at a stop sign facing west, I had right of way driving north, truck driver pulled out in front of me turning left to go south. My speed aprox. 40mph to dead stop. . My vehicle never left the road or no impact with other vehicle. As I started to drive straight, I had to keep my steering 20-30 degrees to left because my car pulled hard to the right. I pulled over to check for flat tire. That was not the issue. I was able to turn around and proceed to a Mazda dealer aprox 2 miles south . I left the car there for Mazda to inspect. The service advisor called me and told me the front sub frame had split/cracked due to rust corrosion--"thats northeast ohio for you". Repair estimate $2000-$2500. Repairs are not done. Dealership has allowed to leave the vehicle in the parking lot for a short time. My car can not be driven. The dealership offered to work with me to "purchase another vehicle " .

11 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

2009 Mazda Mazda6. 121000 miles. 9. 5 years old. Driver side of front subframe rusted through and cracked. First noticed that the steering wheel was turned 1/4 left of where it should be when the vehicle was moving straight. Had mechanic assess. Paid $90 for alignment. Drove vehicle again. Backed out of driveway and heard pop. Steering felt much looser. Difficult to control vehicle. When depressing the brake quickly in traffic, the vehicle pulled strongly to one side. Wheel would not center. Vehicle would no longer maintain consistent steering. Had driven and checked at mechanic. Diagnosed rusted and cracked subframe. Mechanic found used subframe from maryland. Quoted $2000 minimum for repair. Could be more if bolts were rusted holding frame in or repair required work from top side. All other systems on vehicle in excellent shape (no issues) with electrical, engine, etc. Had hoped to get 3 more years out of vehicle. New york state conditions are conducive to rust, but this failure is serious, could have led to a serious accident, and seems premature.

12 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Passenger side dashboard is getting a sticky surface on top. The top layer almost seems like it is melting. It is just starting to get sticky and it is just on top. The stickiness has just started in the last 2 weeks. The sticky surface is causing a glare and is affecting the visibility when driving. Further, the dashboard cracked all the way down after having the air bag replaced due to the recall. No pressure/damage/hits has occurred on the dashboard by consumer and yet it cracked all the way down in January 2018.

No rock hit my car. . Then all of a sudden there was a large crack on my window. That just kept getting bigger. When I first purchased the car I thought something was wrong (purchased brand new), but when the defroster was in, it was as if there was a line in the window where it wouldn't work. Now a year later, I have a crack that cannot be fixed and the whole window has to be replaced.

20 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 04/30/2014

I purchased the car at delray Mazda in 2011. I immediately purchased a dashmat to protect the dashboard from cracking or fading. I saw a segment on the news about other owners of Mazda, Nissan and etc. That has a cracking, sticky dashboard as well. I was advised to contact you. My dashboard is sticky underneath the dashmat and in the area of just above the glovebox, the dash is falling off in clumps. It is a black cushiony material that is falling apart and also cracking where the dashmat doesn't reach. The dash is also very sticky as well. I will contact the dealership and Mazda but would like this resolved.

21 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

A small rock struck the windshield and chipped it with 1 inch cracks around the dent at 6pm. By 6 am the next morning the windshield was cracked from the left edge through the chip and to the right 18 inches. By the following day the windshield was cracked more than two feet. Mazda did not have any replacement windshields in the u. S. At this time (August 19th) and I was informed that they would not have until August 30th. As of September 12th a replacement windshield still hasn't arrived at the dealership. The windshield repair company stated that there were several 2014 Mazda 6's with broken windshields awaiting replacement due to delays in resupplying them. The windshield is now cracked approxmately 50% across.

22 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

Over the past few months I noticed the passenger side dashboard of my 2012 Mazda 6 was becoming sticky and looked as if it were melting. It also began to emit a smell and cracks began to develop while becoming more reflective than the driver's side which remains normal. I bought this car used in good condition from a dealership. After notifying the nearest Mazda dealership they stated no recalls had been made and my best hopes for a solution was to have them inspect and photograph the car's dashboard and hope that Mazda may give me some credit toward replacing the it. Though I will take my Mazda 6 to a dealership for evaluation, I was unsatisfied with this response and learned there is a class action lawsuit describing exactly the same problem my Mazda 6 is experiencing with the dashboard. Please let me know what my options are?.

23 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 04/23/2012

4/23/12 - took car to dealership for airbag light that would continuously flash on dashboard whenever car was on. Their findings: "pulled code b1127 - cleaned & tightened terminals in connector under seat to correct resistance. Test drove ok. Connector 0810-15. " cost me $92. 00 to repair. 3/12/14, (94,425 miles) took car back to dealership after experiencing same problem with flashing airbag light for several months prior. Their description of service: "technician performed diagnostics using Mazda scan tool. Found code b1127 - passenger side airbag module high resistance. Checked for TSB s, found TSB 08-001/09 - coating on airbag terminals allowing oxidation-- replace module. Installed gs3l-57-ka0b: module (r) a/b side, replaced module per tsbp 08-001/09. Cleared code from pcm. " this time it cost me $453. 87!!!! I can't believe there hasn't been a recall on this yet!!! also in Jan. 2015, (92,000 miles) I walked out to my car one day, during the winter, to find my passenger side dashboard with a huge crack in it! it is also very sticky feeling. I haven't even looked into how much it's going to cost to repair this. After doing some more research I found out that allot of people are having problems with their dashboard and I think Mazda needs to get involved and fix this.

24 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

This vehicle does not track straight, even on a level road. At highway speeds (above 50 mph) it has a decided pull to the left, regardless of the lateral slope of the road. Constant clockwise pressure on the steering wheel is necessary in order to keep vehicle from drifting in a leftward direction. If driver attention is diverted for only an instant the vehicle is likely to partially intrude into the lane to the left, which on an undivided highway could be an oncoming traffic lane (hence the safety issue). I called this to the attention of my Mazda dealer's service department at least twice within the first year after purchase (January 2010). Their answer was no answer--they could not find anything wrong mechanically and there were no bulletins from Mazda on the subject. They verified the alignment and rotated the tires left to right, but neither of these solved the problem. Nearly five years later the problem still exists and seems even more pronounced than it was originally. A recent check with the dealer indicated that there is still nothing from Mazda. Possibly it is a defect that applies only to my car and not in general to that model, but I have no way of determining that at this point.

25 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 06/08/2009

The clutch pedal assembly has 3 cracks in it which allowed the assembly to push through the bulkhead to the engine compartment the clutch did not work properly almost causing an accident as I was unable to change gear. This is a dangerous defect which should not have occured. I think a recall should be isssued for this part to be replaced and repaired and also other damage caused by thi defect.
