My 2014 Mazda 6 evap system pops the p0451 when filling up gas to the first click. It goes away after a while if I take care to not fill up the tank all the way to the top. It is similar to a issue reported by recall 7414d for other 2014 Mazda 6s. My car is not covered by the open recall, but it is experiencing similar issues. The p0451 goes on and off depending on how much I fill up the gastank.

Fuel smell in & outside of vehicle after fuel fill, being a retired master technician I decided to investigate this and after removing the the fuel tank access door under the rear seat I was shocked to see that on an 8 year old vehicle the fuel sender retainer is completely rusted out. An overfill, an aggressive maneuver or small collision could prove disastrous with this condition pending! I have just ordered a replacement since I intend to repair this myself and that is only of the tank itself is not compromised when I proceed to remove the rusted out screws as well. Also after further investigation I find this is nothing new to Mazda and actually had this same condition in previous years but I assume chose not to prevent it from happening in future models. I will be attaching a photo of it.

Was at a drive in window and car turned off and couldn't restart. Windows and lights would work but car wouldn't restart. Could of been driving and would of crashed. Had 3 people family in car. It was 9 pm had to have towed to nearest auto mechanic place 150. 00. They are diagnosing and that is 186. 00. This is a scary thing and going to bbb and filing a complaint I'm mad as he'll. Have had inspection done on this car 2 months ago and all required services to this car. This was without warning which is horrifying.
Oil consumption defect. I bought car on 7/10/21. Mazda aware of the problem at the time and still sold me the car. Since then I have had to add oil in between oil changes. Mazda states problem cannot be fixed. My car VIN # included with defected cars. My limited new car warranty will be up soon. I am aware others have concacted you with this problem. Can you tell me what is being done about this?.

Unknown upon research I saw there was a prior recall Mazda recall number 6211b NHTSA campaign number 11v134000 about January of 2022 my service engine light has been turning on and off around and about July 2022 I noticed a dark black colored puddle gathered wherever I would have my vehicle parked and there is a gas smell upon entering the vehicle. I took my vehicle to a mechanic and after their initial inspection I was informed that they would have to further inspect my vehicle but it would be costly because they would have to remove exhaust system to have a better visual. Mechanic also advised not to fill up my gas tank when refueling I believe my vehicle has the problem that the said recall describes.
Hello, I contacted fremont Mazda dealer to fix the below recall. I booked multiple appointment with this dealer to fix the recall but after visiting there service center location they give me reason they are unable to fix it by saying they don't have a part required for fixing the recall manufacturer recall number5321k NHTSA recall number21v-875 please help me to fix this recall as soon as possible. My next appointment schedule at fremont Mazda delership on 9th aptil. Dealer contact number +15104032525 thanks, akshay.
2013 Mazda 6 VIN 1yvhz8cb5d5m11160 1)fuel tank leak. Yes it is available for inspection 2)gas leak with danger of fire or explosion. 3) yes 4) no 5)yes reoccurring the 2014 Mazda 6 had a recall for the exact same problem I am having where the tank would overfill or if parked unlevel and it will activate a check engine light and "leak gas" out of the evap canister even while driving. The recall covered cars built between October 25, 2012 and may 9, 2013. My car was built 7-19-2012 and the dealer will not fix the issue. I have taken it to a dealer in cincinnati and they said put a new fuel cap on it which I did. The problem has persisted and has gotten worse. I have taken it to garages where they have merely reset the light and returned it unfixed. I have lived "because of the covid" with the situation over a year and a half by only filling the tank half full. I have only recently discovered the 2014 had a recall but not the 2013. I have spent over a 1000$ trying to get someone to fix it but no body has yet to do the job. It has potential to explode and or catch afire. I am asking for help and reporting Mazda for under recalling and fixing the recall.

2017 Mazda6 infotainment system also found in Mazda cx-5. Known as "ghost touch," it is a known issue acknowledged by the company and dealerships. Available for inspection upon request. The infotainment system controls navigation, adas heads up navigation, illumination of instruments and other driver instrumentation and safety warning systems. Above a set speed the screen is not a touch screen. When the car slows below a preset speed or is stopped, the display screen becomes a touch screen. The screen will then randomly and intermittently begin to reset itself, changing between and altering settings. This was repaired by Mazda on pre-2016 models, but Mazda declined on 2017-2020 models. This has the potential of causing accidents by making instrumentation unreadable, random dialing bluetooth phone connections, etc. As stated search for "ghost touch Mazda" and you will find many references and complaints. The problem is ongoing since 2021. The component has apparently been upgraded but will cost 700+ to repair.

I hit a deer at 45 miles an hour then hit the hit totalling the car, the airbag did not come out, the seat belt did not lock causing me to be slammed into the steeling wheel, now I suffer great pain, can't move my neck, can't lay down bc of such bad headache I throw up, I sleep sitting up, something in the car like metal fragment hit me in the left eye, now I can barely see out of my left eye. And must continue medical treatment. And someone is going to pay for my medical treatment and pain and suffering, bc that seat belt not locking caused my injuries, my insurance company totalled my car out bc of the severe damage to it.

At take offs, my wheels spin like there is no traction and I feel like I have no control over my car. Also, while driving, I've had to exaggerate the turning of my steering wheel to change lanes, while parked and pulling out of a parking spot, when turning the steering wheel it sounds like something broke(cracking). This also brings up the brakes issue. I almost t-boned someone that ran a red light and stopped in the intersection. I had time to stop but my brakes didn't allow traction for my tires to stop and I was able to turn my steering wheel enough to swerve towarb the back of her truck and miss her.

When driving on a street or highway I can still drive with the emergency brake on in the up position, and it doesn't affect my vehicles forward movement what so ever.
I've owned this car for about 6 months. I usually buy gas by the dollar amount, but did a complete complete fill up for the first time with this vehicle. After driving away then parking at home, I noticed a heavy gasoline smell and checked underneath the car. There was a constant drip (every 15 sec or so) coming from underneath, near the rear driver's side wheel. I now have a puddle. I'm afraid to drive it. What if someone flicks a cigarette and it catches fire while parked?! my mechanic says that this is not normal after a complete full up, and should never happen.
Engine light came on put on machine for diagnostic it was canister purge value sitting or driving.
Car gets self accelerated from full stop right after shifting from drive into reverse gear-automatic transaxle. I have had three occurrences witch trigger to fill this complaint.
The contact owns a 2009 Mazda 6. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 11v134000 (fuel system), 13v425000 (latches/locks/linkages), 16v356000 (air bags), and 16v594000 (air bags). The parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owned a 2012 Mazda 6. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle caught fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v114000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. The vehicle was destroyed.

Mazda has cramped vent duct, speaker, ac duct and front display on to of the dashboard at the driver side. Reflection from all these make the driving very difficult. I have talk to the Mazda customer service and my dealer. They are not interested in listening to my complaint. There message is they can not do anything about it. I have bought the car and its done. Its a safety hazard and accident is bound to happen. We have to take action before something happens.
The contact owns a 2003 Mazda 6. The contact stated while inspecting the vehicle, an unknown fluid started leaking onto the ground. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the radiator cap and coolant bypass fitting had malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 125,326.
Was following a car and came up to a stop light. I depressed brake pedal and felt some resistance but car would not stop. Felt like the brakes were being bled off by perhaps computer control. I switched into a right hand turn lane that was clear, car still not stopping. Shifted into neutral, and engine started to rev up perhaps to 4500 rpm or so, then engine went back to idle on its own. The car had stopped and I put it in park. We then turned right and cautiously proceeded home, without a further problem. Took to dealer and requested the memory be analyzed, they said they could not read the black box at the dealership. It showed no faults. Test drive was uneventful. I again requested the black box be analyzed as the brakes appeared to be bleeding off. They said they would let me know if Mazda needed anything more. My background includes auto mechanic, tow truck driver, car dealership, technician, software engineer, and analyst.
The pressure or heat coming from muffler burnt back part of vehicular I am paying 1400. 00 in wire repairs. Air bags recall, scars me don't have another car. The passenger door air noise escaping, melting dash board, alarm system goes of everyday up to 3to 4 times. Tire pressure, and engine light on.
I asked Mazda to fix the two recall issues and that have not called me nor set up an appointment for this repair.
Was at a stop sign to make a left turn half way thru the car stalled and all lights came on, vehicle behind me almost ran into us. Barely got pulled over to the side of the road had to turn car off and then back on the check engine light remained on but vehicle would drive, after about 5 starts the light came off had the car checked, was told it was the throttle body. One week later same thing wet to pull onto a busy street and car stalled almost causing another wreck, tried to drive it home and stopped at the grocery store, when I went to pull in the car stalled again in the middle of the street, blocking on coming traffic. Called Mazda to see how much it would cost to be fixed, the lady told me that if it was still under warranty it would be free but that expired in 2011. I have seen many of the same complaints about this, Mazda has admitted to it being a problem but has not recalled it. We have two kids and thank god nothing serious has happened with us in the car. This problem could very easily cause injury or deaths to any drivers on the road.
Pressed clutch in loud noise heard then grinding. Pedal stuck to floor while in traffic. Car I had happily owned 2 Mazda 6 2006 sedan and wagon and was considering another when the diesel comes out. That was last week. This week without warning the clutch pedal went to the floor and made a loud bang grinding noise. Car has extended warranty from Mazda we had told Mazda for over a year hard to get into reverse and 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this. Took car in dealer said it would be a clucth which is not covered I was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turns out that went the part failed throwout bearing it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (Mazda customer service must know about the problem as they tell you not covered and basically hang up on you. Same with mepp which I paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care which is supposed to cover manual trans but somehow does not. Getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car which went from being worth 10k to 0. In an instant by a bearing which should be covered. Don"t buy Mazda they don't stand behind the product. Always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed Mazda (green light thing they give you every time it's serviced making you feel like it's all good which is a lie. 3000. 00 to replace the clutch is insane it's not a skyline gtr.
When coming off the freeway or driving through town, the engine starts to surge. The engine rpm is around 2000 and will not come to an idle. Almost cannot stop the vehicle. Very hard brake pedal due to low engine vacuum, caused by the engine rpm being so high. There is not a consistent basis for this happening. . The repair shop has replaced the throttle body assembly, mass air flow sensor and purge solenoid. Same results. The check engine light does not come on. No codes are stored in the computer. The gas pedal is not sticking and no floor mats interfering with the gas pedal.
While driving home from my chardon, OH office on either Aug 5 or 6, 2009 at 35 mph my car's rpm needle started jumping and the car's "gas pressure" felt like it was hicupping. The rpm needle jumped from @2 to 4 twice, then the car started steadily accelerating in speed. The brake pedal at this time felt "hard" and the car was "fighting against my attempt to slow down" and the rpm's were still trying to accelerate. I imagine if I pushed on the brake and the gas pedal at the same time, it would simulate the way it felt. I also have a manual shift mode on my car and used it to more effectively slow down (vs using the brake) but at the same time the car was still trying to accelerate, but couldn't because I was in a lower gear/manual mode. And I remember while in manual gear 1, my car was lurching me back and forth in my seat as I drove through my neighborhood to get home, and my foot was off the gas pedal! on Aug 12th, 2009 I mentioned this event to a Mitsubishi dealer's mechanic (friend of my father) who was replacing my power steering line, he took a look at my car but said it seemed fine. My husband has been driving that car since that event, because I am afraid of it happening again. The car has not done this while my husband has been driving it. Not to sound like an oddball, but if I didn't know better I would have said my car was acting possessed, like the movie "christine". I have to think that there is some correlation to what my car did and what is going on with Toyota. My husband is an electrical engineer and he used to work for grob systems, who does engineering for multiple automobile manufacturers, and I wonder if Mazda has some same system in their automobile's as Toyota and if it was engineered by the same supplier. I would swear on a bible that this happened to me with my car. (my husband left grob to move to cleveland and marry me). It sucks having this car now, it is paid off, I'm afraid to drive it, and I don't want to sell to an innocent stranger.
I am the original owner of the vehicle, I complained of engine surge on several visits to Mazda, and they would always say they were unable to duplicate the problem. I was recently driving the vehicle when it accelerated on it's own, the rpm's would fluctuate between 2 and 4. The vehicle accelerated uncontrollably, I had difficulty stopping at stop signs and traffic lights on my way to my mechanic. When I reached his garage I left the vehicle in park to show him what it was doing and it idled at 3 rpms. The mechanic has not been able to repair the vehicle. I have researched the problem and have found that other Mazda and Ford vehicles have had similar issues.

I purchased the Mazda6 I in late August of 2003, expecting at least roughly, the 25 - 32 mpg that was advertised on my car window. From the start I was getting 18-20 mpg regularly, I do a lot of city driving, but even when I drive on the highway, the highest it has ever been was 27-28 and thats putting 300 miles on it in one straight shot. I complained to a dealer in toledo when I had about 2200 miles on my car, and he told me that was normal for a break in period and to come back when I had 3500 miles on my car. I waited and waited, continuing to get the same poor gas mileage. Finally, with 3800 miles on my car I sent an e-mail to the deal once again because I was still getting the same gas mileage. The dealer responded 3-5 days later (though the website said same day or next day response) and he said, that was normal and Mazda doesn't consider that excessive. 23 - 29 was what was expected for my engine, but that was what was expected for the 6 cylinder, that I don't have. He was rude and couldn't take the time to read my email and respond with accurate information. I also complained to a different dealer near my hometown where I purchased the vehicle, and when I tried to describe the problem the lady asked me what I wanted them to do about it. Why should I have to figure out the problem after I spend that much money on a new car?.
