Sunroof exploded while on the highway. Nothing hit the glass. Glass was facing outward and no evidence if anything striking it. Major safety concern, easily could have blinded my wife or I.

Visibility/safety issue with oem Mazda windshields. Objects appear highly distorted from all angles, making it hard to judge distance, read road signs, and drive safely without a disorienting level of distraction occurring at all times. Some objects appear magnified while others seem shrunken, as well as shorter or taller than they actually are. Straight lines appear rippled and in some cases, completely broken. Operating the vehicle for more than a few minutes results in rapid eye fatigue, motion sickness, and vertigo.
Right side of the dashboard has become sticky, melting, and causing major reflection issues, day and night.

Hello, I purchased my a Mazda from a Mazda dealer in my area. At the time of my car purchase in 2017, they chose not to fix the dashboard recall before selling me the car. Now during summer 2020 my dashboard has shown to become sticky on the passenger side. It is now starting to obstruct my view with a glare, making it harder for me to see out of my windshield. I called the dealership and they are saying the recall is closed and they can't help me. I even called the Mazda customer support and they shut me down. They said that the problem must have occurred within 10 years of the cars production. This happened to me a few days ago and now is getting worse. They would not have fixed the dashboard within the time frame because it showed no damage until now. Please help and make them pay for my dashboard! it is unethical to have me pay for a design and safety flaw out of my own pocket. Especially one they failed to tell me about or fix before they sold me the car.
I was driving down the freeway in the rain and the windshield wipers quit functioning. I pulled over and checked the fuses finding both fuses affecting the wipers were in working order. While pulled over, I also noticed my headlights were no longer on. I checked the fuses related to the headlights and these were also in working order. As I was not in a good location to leave my car for any period of time, I drove my car a few more miles down the road. During this time, the warning for the "Smart breaking system failure" also came on. I was able to get my vehicle into the dealership and they have diagnosed the problem as a failure of the front body control module. I noticed there is an active recall on the 2016 Mazda 3 for the very same issue. I asked the dealer about this and they said my vehicle is not affected by this recall. Based on the symptoms my car has, and being the same year as cars affected, I would strongly disagree.

Passenger side dash started melting about a year ago and has gotten so bad the dash is almost liquid. Sunlight reflects off the shiny melted dash and blinds the driver. I was in an accident because I couldn't see due to light reflecting off melted dash. Dash is so sticky that you cannot touch or it will stick to hands/ clothing. I have ruined multiple items of clothing due to this mess.

While merging onto the freeway on my way home from work, the sunroof exploded. I was driving straight on the freeway with light traffic at approximately 70 mph. I did not see any debris or rocks and after stopping did not find any debris or signs of anything having hit the glass. There was just a loud noise like the sound of a shotgun blast and the majority of the center of the sunroof was gone. I reported the issue to Mazda and they said that it was due to "environmental factors" and was not covered by their warranty. They told me that the replacement glass would be $302 with approximately $450 in labor because they would have to remove the headliner and vacuum out any glass.
The dashboard is sticky and shiny and the glare from the sun is terrible. It’s almost like the dashboard is “melting”.
Vehicle has had 3 windshield replacements in just three years of use and ownership. The windshield design seems to be extremely fragile and induces safety related sensor function anomalies. My grand touring model is also equipped with a bose speaker system which causes popping from a faulty speaker. This seems to be a common problem with these vehicles.

I am the original owner of a 2015 Mazda 6. While traveling on a straight 60 mph highway, my sunroof window suddenly exploded, with a loud "bang!". The window was closed at the time and had not been opened in approximately 3 days. Fortunately, the interior deflector (sliding cover) was closed at the time, or glass shards would have rained down on my face and hair. No objects or sudden motions provoked the explosion. Police would not write a report because there were "no suspects of vandalism" and "no collision with other vehicles or property". $725 later, I have a new replacement window from the manufacturer and hope for no similar future incidents or possible mold/mildew issues. The cause of the safety risk is unknown but is certainly unacceptable, given that I maintain my vehicle to the highest standards and am the original owner of only 3 years. I have repair invoices, should they be necessary to substantiate this complaint.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that the driver's side rear view mirror was frosted over. The contact stated that it was very difficult to see approaching vehicle. The vehicle was taken browns Mazda located at 5625 central Ave, toledo, OH 43615, (419)531-0151, to be inspected. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted nor informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Ah.
Passenger side dashboard is getting a sticky surface on top. The top layer almost seems like it is melting. It is just starting to get sticky and it is just on top. The stickiness has just started in the last 2 weeks. The sticky surface is causing a glare and is affecting the visibility when driving. Further, the dashboard cracked all the way down after having the air bag replaced due to the recall. No pressure/damage/hits has occurred on the dashboard by consumer and yet it cracked all the way down in January 2018.

Shiny, melting dashboards blinding drivers, I receive a notification to change dashboards by the Mazda, I take the vehicle to the consignee they notify me that because it is in the reconstructed category, the change will not be carried. I live in the south of florida where temperatures are high throughout the year, apart from the dangerous glare the gases generated by the right of the plastic are affecting my health.
2010 Mazda 6 isport passenger dashboard crash pad has been melting progressively for about 2 years. Only began noticing the dash melting upon my move to hawaii, so I assume it is a result of subpar parts and the hot/humid climate. This appears to be common with this make and model, based on research into the issue.

The low beam headlight bulbs go out after less than a year. Sometimes they will start working after hitting the headlight assembly on the outside of the car.
Headlights just stop working. I have to hit a bump in the road to turn it back on. Very disappointing.

Passenger side mirror defected. Does not tint when needed and half the mirror stays tinted, which can be a safety issue at night time.
The dashboard on the passenger side is made of a material that melts during hot sunny periods and takes on a reflective surface which acts like a mirror. When sunlight hits the surface not only is the sun reflected off the surface of the dashboard but it's also projected onto the windshield instantly blinding the driver of the right half of the entire windshield, turning the whole side of the windshield into yet another mirror bouncing direct sunlight into the eyes of the driver instantly blinding them. Visibility is substantially reduced and it becomes extremely difficult to see other motorists on the road. Also this melted dashboard is the surface of the passenger front airbag. Being that it's defective and melted one would be led to believe that the deployment of the airbag would also be effected or defective. The glare off of the airbag / dashboard and the projected light reflected off the windshield is constant all times when the sun is shining. This is not just dangerous it's deadly and a genuine hazzard to the operator of the vehicle, the passengers, and every single motorist and their occupants that pass by the defected car and every motorist who interacts with this defective Mazda and the blind driver. This can kill people. Recall this deadly car, from this point forward if the recall is not mandated and someone dies just remember this department could have prevented it.
Windshield is too thin, and breaks very easily. A small (less than a quarter inch) stone hit my windshield on the passenger side about 6 inches from the bottom, cracking it while I was following another vehicle at 60 mph and about 3 to 4 seconds apart.
Passenger side dash is melting and causes a bad glare on the windshield making it hard to see, there is also a glare at night with the street lights. My wife has called several times over the past 5 years about the recall but was told they are not going to fix it and not to call back. I called the Mazda recall team on 10-4-21, they said they would replace the dash and connected me to a local dealer to set up an appointment to get the dash replaced and 3 other recalls fixed. The dealer ( Mazda of cool springs in franklin TN) said they would not replace the dash due to the 10 year warranty period had expired. According to the news I found on the internet there is no limit on getting dash replaced. This is a safety hazard that several people are complaining about and needs to be fixed. Please help.
I first noticed my dash in my car today. The dash in my car appears to be melting. It is sticky, and beginning to have a shine to it. This area is located over the airbag area of the dash. I am not sure what can be done to fix this problem.
This is the third complaint I have filed regarding the melting dashboard. I forgot to mention in the previous complaint that the melting passenger dashboard is actually not a true dashboard, it is an airbag for the front passenger. I have reason to believe that the melting, permanent, extremely stiky, semi liquid exterior of the airbag will fail to rupture properly allowing for normal deployment of the airbag. It may rupture too easily causing deployment of airbag with excessive force, possibly breaking the neck of a child or injuring an adult. It could not rupture completely causing a lag in the time of deployment and may not inflate completely. It could also possibly prevent deployment completely. In addition to causing defects in airbag deployment blindness or eye injury as well as skin injury can occur at time of airbag deployment caused by an explosion of the stiky liquidated airbag surface spraying into the face, eyes, and mouth of passengers. The liquifying airbag surface might also leak into internal airbag components causing malfunction. Remer that when someone refers to the passenger side dashboard melting, it is actually the surface of the front passenger airbag. I am a professional career automobile mechanic with over ten years experience. This is a very dangerous problem.
The dashboard of my 2010 Mazda 6 , 2. 5l melted, emitting a chemical smell and liquifying the dashboard surface creating a sticky reflective surface that can blind the driver.
The dashboard on the passenger side is melting and reflects onto the windshield hampering visibility. It also emits a noxious odor.
I was driving down the hwy and my sunglasses holder fell open was in the way of my rearview mirror and when I went to close it popped off and flew at me spring and all. My Mazda 6 is a 2011 and there are no recalls for this problem, but a lot of reports regarding this problem. I believe Mazda should have to pay for me to install a new one. And there should be a recall on them. Very hazardous when you’re driving down the road and the springs flies off and lands on me the driver let alone the whole door falling to my feet and I’m driving down the road.
Noticed the dashboard on the passenger was starting to get shiny. I checked and found the shiny area. I check to clean it and found it sticky. As I tried to clean it it began to separate as if it was tar. I am concerned about the safety of the passenger in regards to the airbag is under this dash and for the driver being blinded by the reflection of the melting dashboard as it is shiny. I checked with Mazda and the said they were not responsible for it and would not cover any cost to fix it. My vehicle is a 2010 Mazda 6. I feel the Mazda should cover this because they sold a car with defective materials that can compromise the safety of the vehicle.
The dashboard started to melt a few months ago, around may. Now the dashboard is permanently sticky and there is a smell arising. In addition, dashboard creates a glare on the windshield which affects the visibility while driving. If you place something on it, there is a black residue that comes off along with it. The melted dashboard is shiny and sticky.
The passenger side dashboard is melting. The melted are is very shiny and sticky and leaves residue on windshield if touched by window shade. There doesn't seem to be any improvement since window shade has been used. Dashbaoard also seems to be cracking in the area surrounding airbag.
My wife complained to me today while driving the Mazda6 there was a glair coming from the dash area right over the passenger airbag. She touched it and it was a shiny sticky deterioration of the dash itself. You cannot touch or rub out as it sticks and leaves a black, sticky glue on your fingers. Looked it up and there are a great many Mazda owners that seem to suffer from this very same issue. . . And nobody is getting satisfaction from Mazda. 44k and the dash is melting??????.
Crack in windshield. Went into store, no crack. Came back out, crack. Not aware of anything hitting the windshield. Have owned many vehicles over the years, have never had a windshield crack, even when it had been chipped by rocks. Called dealership, they said call your insurance company. The crack is in the center of windshield, starts below the seal at the bottom and goes about a third of the way up.
I had done tons of research and finally found the vehicle that I was wanting. I purchased a brand new Mazda6. I had only had the car about a week and a half, when suddenly, as I was entering onto the highway, I got my speed up to approximately 35-45 mph when I heard three loud pops. I saw my windshield beginning to split from the seal at the base. It split central above my defroster. By the time I traveled two miles to pull over, I had watched the crack grow, forming an s shape onto my windshield. When I contacted the dealership, I was immediately advised if it was a rock chip, it would not be covered. There was no rock chip on my windshield, I looked at it and took pictures of it. By the end of the day when I had gotten off of work, the crack had grown, covering about 1/3 of the height of my windshield. The split began widen a bit and a couple of little glass fragments were breaking off. I brought it up to the dealership and within seconds they stated it wouldn't be covered due to a rock chip when I watched it split from the base seal of the windshield. There was no indication or sign of a chip in the windshield. They made such a quick judgement that I feel they had made this decision prior to my arrival.
