I own a 2000 Mazda Millenia s model. My Millenia has the lysholm supercharger (s/c). Recently, the car has begun to blow blue smoke out the exhaust pipe at startup. The smoke at startup last for about 15-30 seconds. I took the car into the local Mazda dealer. The Mazda mechanic removed the front intercooler and front intercooler pipe. The mechanic said there was oil in the intercooler and the intercooler pipe. He said this indicates the lysholm s/c is leaking. He said the lysholm s/c has a bad seal. Yet, he said he has never taken a lysholm s/c apart and does not know which seal is leaking. He said Mazda just replaces the entire lysholm s/c. A new lysholm s/c is approx. $7000 cad. My car has the 5 yr /100,000km (62,500 miles)power train warranty. The power train warranty states it covers ". . All internal parts". . . And ". . All gaskets and seals. . ". The seal failed inside the s/c, therefore I believe the s/c seal and its replacement should be covered under the power train warranty. Mazda disagrees with me, though Mazda is willing to pay 50% of the cost of a new s/c. Mazda has issued an m-tip (similar to a TSB) for problems with oil leaking from the s/c. The remedy is to replace the s/c. I feel Mazda knows the s/c is prone to leaking prematurely.

I have had a terrible time with my 1998 Mazda Millenia. We bought the car in 2001 with approx. 30,000 miles. It seemed like a great car. Then one day it died as I was turning into my driveway at home. Thank goodness I wasn't driving on the main road. It was diagnosed with a head gasket problem shortly at 70,000 miles. We immediately attempted to replace the gasket. My mechanic discovered, after entering the engine, that there was a crack in the block. So we replaced the engine with a used engine with 30,000 miles on it. It, too, had coolant in the oil. The third engine is also the same. I spoke with a service and parts manager, jim kelley, at century Mazda in August 2003. He knew the problem right away. Several Mazda Millenias made in that year had a "faulty waterpump". He said it wasn't recalled. He offered me a new remanufactured Mazda engine with a warranty of 3 years/unlimited miles. But for $5,000+. I did not have the money at the time. I found out now, Mazda only typically gives a 1 year/12 month warranty on their engines. So I am to assume that they wanted me to be quiet and get a "very good deal". My car still does not work, and has cost me thousands of dollars. If I was informed of the water pump problem, the cracked engine block never would have happened. The oil and antifreeze with breathed in probably hasn't helped us either. My husband is undergoing tests for seizures right now which began about a year and a half ago. We have both experienced severe migraines and breathing and allergy problmes that we never had two years ago. What can I do?.

11/25/08 - replaced all spark plugs, wires & cleaned throttle body
this vehicle currently has 159,000 miles on it & has now been diagnosed with needing both catalytic converters replaced, wheel balance links replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced. I wish I'd know about your website a long time ago. I can't afford the $3500 it'll take to repair this car so today, I'll have to trade it & go back to paying a car note. This car was paid off. It didn't fall under the lemon law rule but if I had to classify it, I'd certainly classify it as a lemon or put it up for recall consideration. All of these problems with the same part of the vehicle is absurd. I've owned many vehicles & never required this much maintenance. I purchased it brand new 11/2002.

2001 Mazda Millenia - ongoing egr flow/check engine light issues; bought car new from dealer and had problem within 12-months - asked and was never provided solution to issue; dissatisfied from day 1 of owning car; repairs do not fix issue and check engine light remains lit; no car repair shop or Mazda dealer has been able to fix problem; thousands of dollars and time spent - this is a known Mazda engine issue that needs to be resolved by Mazda; as a customer I should not have to spend more time/money.

Purchased vehicle brand new from dealer (crossroads Mazda in cary, nc) and from day 1 have had issues with the engine and the check engine light. Transmission completely replaced in may 2004 (right after it went out of warranty); continual problems with check engine light illuminating for no reason and as of 12/08, cannot get car inspected due to check engine light; requesting a repair waiver since this is a known Mazda issue and they have done nothing to resolve/assist their customers.
When starting the vehicle at a cold start, after the engine was cooled, white smoke emitted from the tail pipe.
