Front Air Bag Problems of Mazda Protege

While driving 55 mph the consumer rear ended another motorist. None of the frontal air bags deployed upon impact. As a result the driver sustained injuries to her sternum from impacting the steering wheel.

I don't remember the exact date of failure but it was close to the date I provided. I was driving down the road and my 2000 Mazda Protege started bucking. When I called the dealership and told them that I thought the transmission went bad they treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Sure enough I dropped it off and they dianosed it with a bad transmission. It was 2000 miles out of warranty. Thankfully Mazda paid for the transmission being so recent out of warranty but I had to pay $700. 00 in labor. Since then I have found that those vehicles were plagued with that problem and since then the car just hasn't driven like it used too. I am sadly dissapointed since I used to work at a Mazda dealership and the Mazda b4000 I had also purchased has problems too.

Front crash at 35 mph and neither airbag deployed. Driver suffered a heart attack, still in hospital. Damage to vehicle unknown at this time.

Vehicle was rearended while at a stop by vehicle driven about 40 mph, was pushed into vehicle in front of it. Neither airbag deployed, vehicle was totalled. Consumer suffered neck and back injuries.

Driver lost control of vehicle at 60 mph. Vehicle ran off the road and hit a low concrete structure. Neither airbag deployed, consumer suffered a broken nose. Damage to vehicle was $ 5000. Ak.

I was proceeding southbound on a major street at about 35mph. A pickup truck came out of a small side street and crossed my path going eastbound with the intent of turning left. My car broadsided the truck at the back of the drivers door and at the front of the truckbed. As I did not see the truck until the last moment, I only left about 3 feet of skid. Neither my driver airbag nor my passenger airbag deployed. It was determined that my car was a total loss due to extensive damage.

The problems with this particular vehicle occurred on 11/01/2001 in an auto accident. I'm the passenger who was driving the vehicle southbound on the interstate when suddenly I couldn't stop the vehicle because of the brakes, so I tried to change lanes, and the car veered off the road, landing in a ditch after crashing into 4 or 5 trees. No air bags deployed, and my seat belt detached at some point during the impact. As a result car was completely totaled, and driver side door was smashed in. Passenger's seat directly behind the driver was pushed into the middle of the car, and the truck sat in the back seat. Through all of the impact I could have probably been thrown out of my seat because my sat became unattached, thereby causing extreme damage to my chest, and leaving me with fractured ribs which could have been avoided if the air bags simply deployed. *akfurthermore, the whole thing could have been avoided if I had control of stopping the vehicle in a timely fashion.

While driving and slowing down a truck hit consumer's vehicle and pushed it into another vehicle. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed.

Consumer was traveling 45mph and rearended a SUV head- on. Hitting a fire hydrant and sign, but airbags still didn't deploy. Consumer was consulting manufacturer on no deployment. Consumer please ad the VIN#.

While driving on a two-lane highway travelling 45mph, and 2 cars ahead, another vehicle was making sudden a turn, consumer slammed on brakes, and rear ended vehicle in front. Upon impact, neither airbag deployed.

While driving at a speed of 55mph consumer was rear ended and then was hit from the drivers side of the vehicle. As a result, vehicle was pushed into the back of a eighteen wheeler, and niether of the air bags deployed.

While driving at 50 mhp another vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway. When applying the brakes, the consumer pumped the brakes and the vehicle slid into the other vehicle, rearending it. Upon impact, driver's air bag didn't deploy until the consumer hit the steering wheel and broke the biggest sternum bone in her chest. Also, the shoulder belt didn't hold the consumer.
