Electrical System Problems of Mercedes Benz 320

We bought our ml 320 new. I have had it for 13 years. No engine or transmission problems. A week ago I was at a stop light & smoke filled the interior of the car. Within minutes my car was on fire. The interior was in flames & the henderson fire department had to put out the fire. My car was burned & couldn't be repaired. I don't know what to do now. I have always loved my ml & was going to purchase another until my car went up in flames last week. I am now hearing stories from other acquaintances that they too experienced an electrical fire. Now, I see that mercedes has not owned up to their vehicle defects and has not had a safety recall. I was lucky that the car lasted this long & very blessed my daughter was not in the car with me.

I was inspecting my car to prepare for a smog check. The check engine lite was on. I noticed that the wires going to the air pump had no insulation on them. I cut into the harness to find all of the wires were disintegrating. I ran the code check and got 3 codes. 4,5,and 18. One was egr failure which is common. The other two were air pump and auto cam timing advance failure or shorted out. The wires to these components have no insulation on them. If mercedes didn't know this was a problem why did they afford a specific code for a shorted out smog component?.

Car was cruising at 10mph before getting into our house driveway, when smog came under the hood, open hood inmediately and noticed that the engin electrical harness was melting down, shut off engine and disconected battery.

While driving my e-320 I heard a loud popping sound come through the speakers. After I heard the sound the rear speakers and the sub woofer began to make a noised that suggested they were busted. When I stop the car and shut it off I heard a buzzing noise come through the speakers. Now when ever I apply the brakes I hear what sounds like a faulty ground noise coming through the speakers. There have been recalls on the brakes electrical system that sounds just like the problem that I am having but mb said my car is not included in the recall, by the way the to door speakers cost 189. 00 dollars a piece and the rear sub woofer cost 639. 00 dollars. I haven't started the research on how much the radio unit cost. This car has giving me several problems. What a beautiful lemon. .

Various problems with electrical, heating and cooling, suspension, power steering, lighting, and purge valve systems. Spent 7k in last 3 years alone. Heating and cooling system was removed and reinstalled twice and still does not work right. Struts and steering system completely brakes down every 6 months. I am in the repair shop every 2-3 months! average out of pocket (after extended warranty) $500. . . Outrageous (x4 or 5 per year!). Warranty kicks in another 4k per year. My records show 14 visits to mercedes repair shops since November 2004. . . Insane. This is my first and last mercedes! even my service adviser told me to get a Lexus or Acura!.

Turn signal will not turn off. Making a left turn causes the right turn signal to turn on and vice versa.

My car has stopped on the freeway as I was driving. Then again a few weeks later while driving it stopped on the street. Also it jerks and hesitates often. I am afraid its going to stop anytime. The dealer will not give me a new car or my money back. I have taken the car in 16 different times and its been in the shop for over 45 days total. My lease is going to be up in about 4 months, I think that is my they will not do anything.

While driving at any speed vehicle stalled. Consumer restarted vehicle, and drove it to dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that transmission and computer sensor needed to be replaced, and replaced them. However, the problem recurred, and the mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

A spark was seen on the lower right front of vehicle before car engine started on fire while owner was in car. Car burned completely. Owner escaped.

Mercedes e320-another electrical problem with the srs-restraint light-gateway. Mercedes claims rear airbag problem, car unsafe to drive, but if you didn't buy it from servicing dealer, no loaner! mb vehicle motor inquiry indicated car was nav pre-wired. Planned installation when available, no prepay, now I'm stuck without nav, reason I bought mb.

The vehicle experienced electrical problems and the vehicles air bag light illuminated and stayed on. The dealer has been notified.

2nd car, same complaints. First car was addmitted to be a lemon by dealer. They gave me a new vehicle at that time. I thought this would be ok but, new car has same problems. Windows do not stay up when you press button for them to close. All electrical components on both cars have completely failed and turned off while driving car on freeway. Lights, gauges, signals, everything went out. Extremely dangerous!! repaeted problems with windows. Has been witnessed by technicians and they have tried to repair. The problems are getting worse. I took the first car in 14 times before they did anything about it. I have taken this car in 5 times, had attorney write letters, and have told manager dwane sanders of my problems. They have yet to respond to anyone on my end of things. Please help ASAP!!! mr.
