The fuel leaked onto the ground, onto the exhaust, and the smell was inside the vehicle cabin. We got the fuel pump assembly replaced but we still have a fuel cap failure now with no result. There is a design flaw present & using a band-aid for the problem will not solve anything.

2 Fuel Pump problem of the 2002 Mercedes Benz 320

Failure Date: 11/04/2004

The consumer stated that on rainy days the visibility would become difficult. There was a failure in computer chips, the problem persisted with the poor visibility of the windshield, horn failure, interior and exterior light failure, stalling, catalytic converter rattling, inoperative washer jets, broken glove box, noise in the rear of the vehicle, faulty fuel pump, loud whining noise form under the seat, and a whirring noise was coming from the center vents.

Failure Date: 08/24/2002

While driving 30 mph, vehicle lost all power, stopping all of a sudden, and failing in middle of road. Owner said she almost was struck in the rear. Dealership inspected vehicle, and found that fuel pump was the cause. This was her third replacement. Please describe details.
