Takata recall * have had this car 2 years with the know defect and still no remedy! I don't want to have to die before this gets resolved. . What do I do?.
Takata recall. According to the third amendment to the coordinated remedy order, dated December 16, 2016, my car is in the highest risk priority group 4 for the takata recall. Paragraph 34 of the order requires the manufacturer to secure sufficient supply of parts and launch the remedy program for priority group 4 by March 31, 2017. It has been over a month since that deadline and despite being in the highest risk group, mercedes has provided no update on replacing the driver airbag in my car, which I am reluctant to drive due to the risk. Attached is a pdf excerpt of the relevant pages from the order. Can NHTSA please provide an update and/or expedite mercedes' remedy launch for priority group 4? thank you.
Notified by mail.
There are issues with the engine and the car will not start. There's a class action against mercedes in regards to this same engine issue. The car was in motion when it cut off and another time after being stationary the car would not start. There was never a check engine light or any signs that indicated engine issues before the engine completely failed. I also received a notice about my airbag having a recall about a year ago and this issue has not been resolved.

Takata recall and mercedes has not provided a remedy.
The instrument panel of my car is announcing me to take it to a dealership to get the air bags checked but I asked the dealership and they told me that it has a recall on the air bag . It has been about a year sice I have had that issue and every time I ask the dealership the just ask me to wait until they receave the parts to get the recall done.
Takata airbag recall - I contacted the Mercedes Benz dealership where I purchased my vehicle and told them I did not feel safe driving my vehicle. They immediately forwarded my call to a hotline for Mercedes Benz USA, and I was told that my car is safe to drive and that mercedes will not offer me a rental car to drive while I wait for replacement parts. They went as far as to send me a letter explicitly saying that they believe "there is no reason for you to stop driving your vehicle. " there is no estimated timeline for the replacement parts. There wouldn't be a recall if there wasn't a safety risk and Mercedes Benz isn't doing anything to ease customers' fears or ensure our safety. I live about a mile from the beach and it is humid. Not only do I not feel safe, the resale value of my car is likely impacted if I wanted to purchase a new, safer vehicle. Mercedes benz should be mandated to offer rental cars while we wait for our replacement airbags. It's not "precautionary" to issue a recall and then wait months (or potentially years) to fix the problem.
