1 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

Vehicle developed obd-ii code p052e related to crankcase ventilation/pcv system malfunction. Issue causes improper crankcase pressure, rough idle, oil vapor smells, and check engine light. Independent research shows this is a common failure on 2015–2017 mercedes C300 models. Repair requires replacement of crankcase vent/pcv assembly. This appears to be a premature emissions system failure.

2 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2024

Pcv fault.

3 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2024

A couple years back I had an engine light pop up and it was the code p052e which as I’ve done my research and read a lot of forums this is a common problem with the w205 mercedes motors. As of today 04/18/24 the engine light came on and I got it diagnosed to find out it is the same problem again. This repair is almost $2000 and it is due to mercedes faulty manufacturing of the pcv valve. I have read things that say there has been extended warranty on it and a lot of submissions for recalls, that I’m not exactly sure of.

4 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2024

The positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve is crucial for regulating the flow of gases in the engine's crankcase. If the pcv valve malfunctions or becomes clogged in a car like the 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 4-matic, several problems can arise: 1. **increased pressure:** a malfunctioning pcv valve can cause pressure to build up in the crankcase. This increased pressure can lead to oil leaks, gasket failures, or even engine seals blowing out. 2. **poor engine performance:** when the pcv valve fails, it can disrupt the air-fuel mixture in the engine, leading to rough idling, stalling, or decreased fuel efficiency. This can result in a loss of power and overall poor engine performance. 3. **contamination:** a faulty pcv valve may not properly route harmful gases, like unburned fuel and moisture, out of the crankcase. This can lead to contamination of the engine oil, reducing its effectiveness in lubricating engine components and potentially causing premature wear and damage. 4. **increased emissions:** a malfunctioning pcv valve can result in increased emissions from the vehicle, as it may not properly recirculate harmful gases back into the combustion chamber for burning. Overall, a nonfunctional pcv valve can negatively impact both the car's performance and the environment, potentially leading to costly repairs and increased pollution. Additionally, prolonged exposure to increased emissions from the vehicle can be harmful to both the environment and the health of individuals. Therefore, it's essential to regularly inspect and maintain the pcv valve to ensure proper functioning of the vehicle.

5 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2023

My mercedes has a p052e check engine light code for its pcv value performance. I do see that many other drivers are having this issue and that repairs are around $2,000.

6 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2023

P052e - pcv regulator valve performance: actuator stuck p06da - engine oil pressure control circuit/open no sub type information my understanding is these are common issues and mercedes and anyone who works on them know it is a common issue for all lines. I also have a broken sunroof that seems to be common on all lines. There are some recalls out for the sunroof but not for the c-class C300, although all of the videos I have found match the same issues that were recalled on other models. The dealer confirmed these are known issues.

7 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2023

Crankcase ventilation- code: p052e came up and I had just bought from the dealership with 87k miles.

8 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2023

The pcv valve/crankcase has broken 3 times on this car with different repairs and parts. This is happening very commonly to these cars and may cause significant safety issues. The code is p052e.

9 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

Pcv valve causing contamination and shortening the life of the engine oil.

10 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

My check engine light came on at about 68,800 miles. The obd code shows that I need the positive crankcase ventilation valve replaced. The repair for this is approximately $2,300 and requires about six hours of shop labor, and the part costing over $425. I’ve never known a pcv replacement on any vehicle to be more than $60, with the part itself being about $10-$20. Most times, the part can be simply cleaned and replaced. This is very disappointing. Especially given that the engine design, just two years prior, would have been less than $200 for the same repair, with part costing about $60. The vehicle does not show any symptoms of the part being blocked, as indicated in the code. There is no hesitation, loss a power or decline in fuel efficiency. However, the engine light cannot be turned off until the part is replaced. I think that $2300 to replace a part on seven year old car, well under 100,000 miles is indicative of either poor design or predatory. Hopefully, something can been done to address this. Thank you!.

11 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2022

Cel on, p052e code for crankcase ventilation/pcv failure. Vehicle has about 55k miles. Extremely common failure on these vehicles at this mileage and expensive/complicated to repair. Will not pass state emissions because of this. Given extensive anecdotal evidence of the pervasiveness of this problem, recall should be issue.

12 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2022

At approximately 65k miles, my pcv valve is bad and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1600. I saw lots of customer complaints for the same issue online, I think mercedes should cover this item under recall.

13 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2022

Engine light was up at around 48700mile, diagnosis reading stated "pcv regulator valve performance".

14 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

Pcv valve causing check engine light to come on. 50,000 miles on vehicle.

15 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

My 2016 C300 4matic, which has been serviced exceptionally well, turned 57,000 miles (7k miles outside of warranty), had the check engine light turn on. I went to my mechanic, who has a state of the art diagnostic unit, and it was diagnosed as code p052e which means that the crankcase ventilation regulator valve including the fuel rail needs to be replaced. Mercedes has known about this being a major problem as they modified one of the parts. My dealership quoted me over $ 2100. 00 to fix it and deemed it not covered by the extended warranty. I have gone online to several Mercedes Benz forums and hundreds of people have had the same thing happen with this part failing around 52k mark. Since mercedes knew about this - issued an improved part to replace the defective one - NHTSA should mandate a recall. This is not some simple dyi matter. It is a complicated repair consuming many hours. It is wrong that driving this, with this code, could literally kill you. I implore NHTSA to mandate a recall based on the facts specified herein. By the way I have a 1999 ml320 that I have meticulously maintained and drives perfect and I have owned many other Mercedes Benz. I am 58 years old and I have never filed a complaint with NHTSA before. This is a very serious matter. Please help.
