Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 33 problems related to front driver side air bag inflator (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata inflators. There has been a recall for mercedes-benz C300 since June 1,2016. It has been 2 years and the recall has not been dealt with. I was almost in a car accident today where a ignorant driver texting swerved into my lane. I braked in time but he still collided with another vehicle that didn't have enough time to break. Their air bags exploded. If that would of been me and my air bags would of exploded there could of been more harm done to me from the air bags exploding then the initial car crash. That is not the way I want to find out if my air bags work or not. I have constantly called to the check status of when the air bag recall is going to get fixed. Mercedes USA doesn't even know when they will be getting the parts to fix this problem. We need to have this problem fixed before someone really gets seriously hurt or worse.

Takata recall - per the NHTSA and mercedes website information our vehicle is included in NHTSA recall #16v081 which is the driver's frontal airbag inflator. We have not received any notification from mercedes related to this recall and/or when our vehicle's airbag inflator will be fixed. We therefore contacted Mercedes Benz customer service who escalated our concern to one of their managers. We received a call on 4/6/18 from patricia wagner who stated she represented Mercedes Benz and advised they will not replace our drivers side airbag inflator. She further advised that the NHTSA recall information is incorrect and that recall #16v081 is a passenger side airbag inflator recall and that we needed to contact NHTSA and spreak with a supervisor to find out why they (NHTSA) were providing incorrect information.

Takata recall. I purchased this car for my teenage son on 3/13/18. I spent considerable time shopping for a vehicle in our price range that did not have the open takata recall. At that time, the NHTSA website, mercedes customer service and carfax all showed that this car was good - no open recalls. Now I come to find out that both passenger and driver bags/inflators are on recall, effective 6/1/16 and 2/9/16, respectively. I am extremely upset and concerned, as I do not want my son driving an unsafe vehicle. How is it possible that the recalls were "not there" in March? please help. Thanks.

Cannot reach any dealer to fix to recalls on my care recall 1 : NHTSA recall number , 16v081 , summary: certain mercedes-benz vehicles and one fca model are equipped with driver-side front airbags provided by the supplier tk holdings inc. According to takata, activation of a non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflator with degraded propellant may result in an inflator rupture. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag and into the vehicle interior at high speed, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.

Takata inflators. Parts are still not available for replacement.
I received two safety recall notices from daimler ag (dag) regarding air bag issues since October 2017, both of which indicate that "remedy not yet available. " the most recent one (issued January 2018) is related to the takata recall: "according to takata, in the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants" the first recall, issued October 2017 relates "daimler ag (dag), the manufacturer of mercedes-benz vehicles, has determined that on certain b-class electric, c-class, e-class and cla, gla, glc, glk-class vehicles (242, 204, 205, 207, 212, 117, 156, 253 platform) an electrostatic discharge, when combined with a broken steering column module clock spring and an insufficient grounding of the steering components, could lead to an inadvertent deployment of the driver airbag. A broken steering column module clock spring activates a driver airbag warning message in the instrument cluster, as well as the red airbag warning lamp. An inadvertent driver airbag deployment may cause a risk of injury to the driver and might increase the risk of a potential crash. Consequence an inadvertent driver airbag deployment may cause a risk of injury to the driver and might increase the risk of a potential crash. " it is unacceptable that daimler has not yet provided remedies for these situations.
Manufacturer recall number2017020023, NHTSA recall number17v114. I have visited mercedes-benz dealer for the takata airbag inflator recall. However, the dealer refuse replacing the airbags for me due to the fact that there is no parts available at this moment.

Based upon takata's information to date, takata is aware of four test ruptures in ballistic tests of non-desiccated psdi-5 inflators. Takata is not aware of any field incidents in which a psdi-5 inflator has ruptured, either desiccated or non-desiccated. Takata is taking this action in an abundance of caution, to address all of the subject non-desiccated psdi-5 air bag inflators, due to the similarities of design and manufacturing characteristics for this type of inflator used in the u. S. Market. Dag is not aware of any field incidents with the subject takata psdi-5 inflators. However, based on the information above and in an abundance of caution, dag will conduct a voluntary recall of the vehicles equipped with subject takata psdi-5 inflators in the united states as identified by takata in the defect information report.

My 2010 mercedes C300 has a faulty electronic steering lock fail-which left me stranded sitting in the park lot about 30 minutes from home. Car would not start I tried to start my car and nothing happens. When I turn the key to on nothing lights up, no crank, no clicks, no windows and no radio. I would lock and unlock with the remote but that was about it. I tried jumping and I tried both keys still nothing happens when I turned the key. Steering wheel was locked and gear stuck in park. Had to have it towed to the mb dealership to have the steering lock and key replaced and ending costing $1,124. 00. I have read that this has happened to a whole of mb's and should be a recall. I mean really we pay to have a quality car and so far my mb has had a stinky ac that mb could never figure out how fix, taillight recall, found oil leaking from oil centerfuge cover that cost $199. 62 but yet it still leaks oil. , currently waiting for the takata airbag inflator recall from April 2016 and today is Dec. 2016. Very disappointed in mercedes and will not be purchase again nor will I recommend to anyone. Even the service at the dealership has gone down. Quality and customer service is not what it use to be.
Takata recall my car has been under recall for the passenger and driver side airbags for over 2 years now. I live in texas which is in zone a of the recall and according to a diagram that mercedes sent us with the recall letter, the time the inflator is expected to rupture is in 6-9 years. This car is currently 8 years old which would put it at extreme risk and mercedes still does not have a fix for this. They also refuse to offer a loaner car. They recently stated that a replacement would be available in last June of 2018 however they have now delayed that again to December 2018.
Takata recall. I received a notice from mbusa 6-8 months ago, and have gotten no response from my local dealer who only knows that this recall, to his knowledge, is on hold, and no parts are available. How can that be possible? if a car is in a crash and the airbag inflator deploys, does it not need to be replaced in order to complete the repairs to the vehicle? I am concerned, and have no faith in the corporate lobbyists and fat cats that cut corners for profits. I just want my car fixed, because I am handicapped, and have an extremely bad back, and worry that incorrect deployment of the airbag would further damage my spine, and cause me to go to a wheelchair from my cane, or worsen the numbness and my inability to get around. This should be your concern as well, because I have contacted an attorney who is willing to take my case for a percentage of the settlement, if we decide to settle, or accept the court mandated fee he would be entitled to. My entire lumbar and sacral spine are compromised bye degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, multiple spinal senoses and more.
Description of the security risk your passenger side airbag is affected by this recall based on the default decision of tk holdings, inc. (takata). In certain circumstances during a crash that requires frontal airbag deployment, the defect in the passenger side airbag inflator can cause the airbag to explode during deployment and could result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, causing serious injury or death.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz C300. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v081000 (air bags) for the driver frontal air bag inflator and 16v363000 (air bags) for the passenger frontal air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The local dealer (mercedes-benz of northlake located at 10725 old statsville rd, charlotte, nc) was not able to assist the contact and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that they were repairing the vehicles in order according to the heat/ humidity and that it was not time to service her vehicle yet. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall airbag inflators. I have 2 open recalls for takata airbags. Recall #16v-363 passenger-side airbag module, recall #16v-081 driver-side airbag module. These recall notices are over 1 year old. I have been waiting for my dealership to contact me once they receive the parts. As of today, still no parts.
Takata inflators. Received a recall notice on in April 2016. Checked with mercedes dealership a few days ago, and after almost two years they still do not have the replacement parts. They said I will receive a letter from mercedes once they have the parts.
Takata inflators: they sent me a letter back in may 2016 and in August 2016 stating that both driver and passenger side airbags are defecting. There still has been no resolution regarding this and according to takata, if the airbags deploy or if they do not could result in serious injury or death. I am driving my mercedes around and scared to death that they may or may not ploy and could kill my family or I. Srs control unit: may corrode and cause control unit malfunction. This is still not resolved on my vehicle and the letter was sent out in March 2016.
Takata inflators: it has been more than 18 months since this recall : 16 v081 and 16 v363 have been issued. Still no reply from mercedes. Can you inform us as to what is being done to remedy these issues. Driving this car is similar to a "russian roulette"!!!!.
Takata inflator : the manufacturer has never remedied the takata inflator recall defect since Feb 2016 when the recall was announced.
Takata inflators the first recall was February 2016 for the driver side airbag a reasonable amount of time is past the parts were promised in September 2018 and no delivery. Now a new recall of January 2019 for the passenger side airbag inflator has been issued I'm told by mercedes-benz USA that the parts will be available September 2019 . This is an unreasonable amount of time given the three years of the previous recall not being remedied. Also I'm told by the dealership that the motor mounts are collapsed I can't help but think that this is a defect also subject to recall.
"takata recall" according to takata, in the event of an inflatorrupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Mercedes benz did not replaced my air bags. Something need to be done! I am very disappointed and frustrated!.

Remedy: once parts are available customers will be sent a letter asking them to go to an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer who will replace the driver side front airbag of the potentially affected vehicles. Recall campaign 2016020003 owners may contact mercedes-benz at 1-877-496-3691. Recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available.
Takata inflators: the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle. It has been over 2. 5 years.
Takata inflators: 2 recalls and no action taken by Mercedes Benz. Takata has known about this problem since 2008. They need to find a way to make the parts available now! 9 years is long enough to manufacture the defective part replacement.
Takata recall received a letter from m b in March 2017 about the recall. Spoke to m b customer service today and they said recalls of other brands take priority over Mercedes Benz recalls for the inflator replacements. How long is long enough to wait to correct this safety concern ?.
Within a year and half, every few months, I get a notice from Mercedes Benz company that there is a safety recall notice on airbag inflators priority group 4. However every time the notice states that the will be available in 3 months, but it does not happen. This is just buying time and may be full fill some regulations. Meanwhile consumer like me is in danger and the faulty airbags can cause my death in case of accident. Mercedes benz company needs to quit playing around and dot needs to get involve.
Takata inflators recall srs controls manufacturing error this auto should have never left the factory floor it has cost me considerable mental upset and money which I can not afford it parked unsafe to drive engine lite on mercedes should repair or rebuilt this auto I am a disable veteran and need my transportation. Mercedes should take the air bags out better there out than go off accidently.
