Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 9 problems related to radio/tape cd player (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving my 2015 Mercedes Benz C300 4matic with panoramic roof one day on rte 9 in hyde park NY, a 2 lane state road I was traveling at 40 mph, I suddenly heard more air than usual and then seconds later a loud flapping noise on roof. I pulled over immediately only to find the stationary roof panel all the way forward on the roof, (directly in front of glass portion of the pano roof) became loose on one side and flapped open with wind when in motion. I used 3 quarters between windshield and said panel to hold it from popping up while driving and drove immediately to a body shop. Tbey inspected it and determined it was held down with black epoxy similar to what is used to install glass such as windshields. They added some epoxy and taped down the piece for me. Approximately one week later I was traveling on the same road at about 30mph and suddenly all within like 2 seconds heard loud wind, then flapping, then saw the roof piece fly off swing in front off windshield it was still attached to a rubber gasket, then up in the air and back down and smacked the side of drivers door before breaking free and flying down the road behind me. Luckily it did not strike any cars or people as it briefly held on to the gasket attached. I immediately stopped and was able to retrieve it, broken into 2 pieces. Some online research found this has been a very common problem with many, many people who posted all ovwr the internet on facebook and several other sites. I then found the exact same problem, and part was recalled by mercedes for 10s of thousands if cars, but the recall did not include my year (but did include my model for other years). This is very obviously the same exact problem and should be covered for all years by mercedes. I called and after a lengthy phone call with Mercedes Benz I got nowhere. The agent for mb refused to even admit it was a recall, and was rude.

My navigation and central control panel not functioning and freezing with message "please wait". Caused so many safety problems, including backup camera not working, temperature control and airflow screen not showing up, bluetooth phone system not working to take hand-free calls, and no radio station is working and/or only one unknown radio station tuneup but can't switch to another station at all to listen highway traffic information. It's been already 3 weeks and I visited dealership and called Mercedes Benz customer services but no help/solution available so far. Asked me to just wait few more days.
We are a small family owned car lot that has been in business since 2005. We sold a 2011 mercedes C300 to a nice young couple last week. After only having it less than 24 hours, the customer called stating the vehicle will not start. Said went to start the vehicle in the morning and the steering wheel was locked and car would not start. The lights & radio turned on but it had a message on dash to remove key from ignition. We had to call a tow company to tow it to the mechanic and put them in a loaner car. Later that day I started doing some research and realized many many others are having this same exact issue and it is costing them $1600-$1800 to have the esl & eis replaced. It is insane how many of the same issue have been recognized and reported yet there is no active recall on this very dangerous, expensive issue with on a car that many people can only dream about having! I will attach the link also that I found the others having the same issue. . Read more...

My 2009 mb C300 is parked and will not start. I put the key in and turn it but nothing happens. The radio and internal lights do come on but not the car. The steering wheel is locked and I can't put it in neutral either (to push it out the garage). I have read many forums with many other owners having the same problem. This is unacceptable,if this is so commen in this car then it should have a longer warranty or recall. I have been very meticulous in the care of this car and this unfortunately will set me back financially and time. Please start an investigation!!!.

When I've got to the car, put the key in the ignition, and turn the key with no crank noise in the engine. After a lot of tries I had noticed that my steering was not unlocking, windows don't work no lights on like abs, check engine or all the lights that come on with the key on the on position, and that the car would not shift in neutral. After trying to jump the car and rearming/disarming the alarm I checked on line and found out that a lot of people have the same problem with their mercedes. Here is what I experienced 1. Put key into ignition, steering wheel doesn't unlock. 2. Instument cluster displays "remove key from ignition". 3. Turn key to accessory, no lights on dashboard, only the radio works, windows don't work. 4. Turn key all the way to start car, nothing happens.
"takata recall" I have a Mercedes Benz C300 2011 a problem occurred where you turn the key and it does not recognize and steering wheel lock. Everything else worked like lights, radio, battery. I was driving one moment stopped and parked for less than 5 minutes and nothing happened. I've done some research and it looks like there's quite a few other owners having the same problem. . I drove my car to a store, turned it off and left it for 10 minutes. When I returned the car would not start. I had a friend try to jump my 1 year old battery amd still no start. My display says to remove key when my key is in. Lights, radio, and locks work but no windows. Dealer says I need a new steering wheel column. This problem is posted everyone online. Seems like a common thing. Dealership says it'll cost me $1575 and take 5 days to fix.

Today I had to go to work andtried to put my car on, to my dismay it would not turn on. All of the other electrical functions worked, like my car locking and unlocking , and the radio working but it kept telling me to remove key from ignition and it wouldnt start. I have done alot of reasearch and there seem to be alot of people with this problem. And I hope we could fix it and have it recalled because it is very expensive to fix.
