Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 367 problems related to equipment (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mercedes Benz C300 based on all problems reported for the C300.
The driver’s side door handle broke and I was unable to leave the car unless it was unlocked and rolled the window down to open it from the outside through the window. If there was a loss of power and you pulled on the latch and it broke you would be delayed in exiting. There are multiple videos on after market parts to repair the plastic pin that breaks. Tesla seems to be recalling their vehicles for a similar problem recently, why not mercedes for a known problem????.

I took my 2015 vehicle to the mercedes dealership and learned the rear subframe is rusted and has holes on two sides. I was warned that it is a safety hazard and could lead to a lack of control and other dangerous situations. I also learned that other 2010 through 2014 mercedes models in the same class have been recalled for this exact concern. I am disappointed and upset to learn that those concerns are known, but not addressed in this model and put customers at risk.

The sunroof exploded spontaneously while driving to a destination. When the incident happened, I was stopped at a red light. I panicked as it sounded like gunshots hitting my car. I pulled over to the nearest safest destination to inspect the car. This put the safety of myself at risk and others at risk who were driving along the sides and/or behind me. This incident was confirmed by a dealer, as I went to Mercedes Benz sugar land on the following day of the incident and was quoted around $3,700 to have it repaired. The vehicle not been inspected by police and/or insurance. There were no warning signs that this could have happened besides the fact that Mercedes Benz USA is currently under an active lawsuit for this happening to several other drivers. I do believe that this is a manufacturing defect affecting safety, as similar incidents involving mercedes-benz panoramic sunroofs, which may indicate a wider defect trend.

Rear subframe rotted out and broke due to corrosion. Rear crossmember is broken and needs replaced. My safety as well as the safely of other was put at risk. Loss of control at high speed could have been deadly. Luckily, I wasn’t going very fast at the time of incident or else who knows what would have happened to me or bystanders. Independent service center inspected and confirmed that incident was due to corrosion in the rear. They informed me of the extended warranty (20 years, unlimited miles) on 2008-2015 C300 models for this particular issue as my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. There were some symptoms leading up to the incident. At the time of braking the car would become unstable and feel skittish in the rear. It felt as if the rear was sliding to one side. The vehicle would also make some metal clinking noises at sharper turns. The symptoms had been more frequent in the prior 2-3 months of incident. The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by one shop and is currently getting a second opinion from another independent service center.

Failed component: front sunroof clip what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? sunroof clip, yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the glass pane lifted while the car was in motion and had to be held down to secure it until the car stopped. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no while merging to enter the freeway at approx 45-50 mph I opened my sunroof. At about halfway back the glass began to lift up off the track/railing as if it was going to fly off the track. Had I not been holding the button to open the sunroof I would not have noticed and the entire glass pane would have blown off, possibly damaging the car or worse flying off and hit another car. I had to hold the glass in place to keep it from flying off until I was able to exit the freeway. Once I stopped the car to inspect the sun roof I noticed the clip that secures the glass to the track was broken (crumbled) in the sunroof track. I removed the pieces of broken plastic from the track and was then able to close the sunroof. I am now unable to safely open my sunroof while the vehicle is in motion.
I drove vehicle to publix with no problems. When I tried to start vehicle, key turns but car does not start. There is no cranking sound. I called a mechanic friend and after extensive diagnosis he determined it was the esl module which controls the steering. Fortunately I was not driving the vehicle when the esl module failed. There is a recall on Mercedes Benz C300 from 2012-2017 for the esl module problems but the 2011 is not included. It should be recalled since it is a safety hazard and it appears others have had similar problems according to comments on google. I have a handicapped wife I take care of and having issues with the steering can cause accidents and injuries. There were no messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. There needs to be a recall or further inspection done on the 2011 Mercedes Benz C300. Car will be towed to a Mercedes Benz dealership for diagnostics.
Rear-subframe corrosion at the lower-control-arm mounts has progressed to the point where both arms have play and produce loud metallic bangs while braking or turning at low speed. Two independent shops lifted the car, documented flaking rust around the bushing sleeves, and advised the subframe is structurally compromised and could let a control arm detach under load. The corroded subframe remains installed and can be inspected on request. Safety risk: a detached rear control arm would cause sudden, unpredictable steering and loss of control. The vehicle already pulls right under braking, and feels very unstable in curves problem has been reproduced and photographed by two independent repair facilities. No manufacturer representative has inspected the vehicle so far. Additional component failures possibly linked to the same progressive chassis stress: premature wear of both front cv axles; timing-chain stretch with worn guides; slack oil-pump chain; upper & lower oil-pan gasket leaks; water-pump seepage; right engine-mount collapse; persistent misfire traced to a loose intake-hose clamp; transmission-cooler hose clip released under pressure, dumping all atf and destroying the automatic transmission; excessive play in all four lower control-arm bushings. The transmission and the other components were replaced 1-2 months before the subframe bro history: a faint clank from the rear suspension first appeared roughly three years into ownership. Dealer service dismissed it as “normal noise,” and warranty would not cover “loud clanks,” so the issue went unaddressed. The noise has grown steadily into the current condition, suggesting long-term subframe corrosion that was never inspected or remediated. No collision, flood, or off-road use; the car has typical northeast winter-salt exposure. The failure pattern matches subframe-corrosion cases already acknowledged by the manufacturer on this model, although this serial number is not yet included in the official campaign.
Upon purchasing my 2016 C300, I starting experiencing a right pull whenever I press on the brakes. I was very concerned as I use this vehicle to assist with dropping and pick up of my 2 grandchildren. The more I drove the car, the more unsafe especially when I attempt to bring my car to a stop. I took the car to a local mechanic and I was advice to take it to a mercedes dealership. The mechanic also advice that it was an issue with the rear sub frame. A week later I took the car in to mercedes as suggested and a day later I received a call and video from mercedes that the subframe was broken and that is why I am getting that hard pull whenever I brake. Mercedes also stated that the control arm bracket is barely on and it is causing the vehicle to flex.

* component failed / malfunction - panoramic sunroof separation. The front roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof has separated from the windshield panel. * sun roof glass panel is at risk of separating for car and becoming airborne causing injury to driver and others. * problem has been confirmed by independent service center. * first appeared on approximately April 21, 2025.

Engine light- crankcase ventilation valve replacement p052e71. Vehicle will jolt aggressively at the time of acceleration.
Have noticed a lot of air noise coming from the panoramic sunroof of my vehicle when driving, and now have issues of it opening or closing properly. I researched and found a recall regarding the issues my vehicle is having, and brought it into a dealership for diagnosis. Was told my vehicle VIN was not included in the recall. This is a dangerous issue that needs to be remedied. If the sunroof malfunctions I’m afraid it will come loose from the vehicle as it is doing the same things that the recalled VIN vehicles had issue with. Mercedes needs to update and add additional vins to this recall. I did not repair, as I was told the entire thing will need to be replaced.
The sunroof is very glitchy and this is common in all benz I have had a few different benz and they all eventually have this same issue with their panoramic sunroof. Sometimes it opens half way life one side is up and the other side is closed and other times it will open fully but not close and other times it won’t open at all. This is a common problem that many benz owners have stated this in the benz forums all over. This is a safety issue due to unexpected weather conditions if it rains and it’s stuck inside gets damage and owners get wet which is also a distraction and may cause accidents. Please investigate this issue thoroughly. Their sunroofs should be recalled and extended warranties placed on them automatically by Mercedes Benz due to this being a very common issue in all model’s panorama sunroofs particularly C300s year 2017 thank you for looking into this matter.
Panoramic roof explode sound like a gunshot but the roof exploded.
Crank case ventilation valve needs replaced. This is a hazard and multiple mercedes owners have reported the same issues.
Error code p052e71 on a 2017 C300 with 100k miles. It seems to be a very common and recurring issue that appears to have no real solution and is costing consumers thousands upon thousands. This malfunction does relate to emissions and this vehicle is operated in California.
Check right tail and brake lamps warning light will not go off for months. They are working fine but the light won't go off. Googling on mb world, it shows mercedes is aware of this problem and a recall is needed to get it corrected being safety issue with warning lights not working properly. See all info. Below from owners, conversations and work done by dealers, etc. People note it is a middle school education problem. Please alert me when the recall is confirmed to get this important problem fixed. The roof panel cracked straight down the middle.
Check engine light came on, it has to be with the positive crankcase ventilation valve. So I found out that other people are experiencing the same thing. So I know that there is a recall by the manufacturer. And I want to do the same for me.
The valve for crankcase ventilation has a malfunction. The actuator is blocked select 'error codes / events' menu in engine control unit. Then read fault memory.
Rear subframe , so I went in for an alignment and was quickly notified and denied service due to my rear sub frame being broken. Car is reported to be unsafe by the tire company. No lights etc. My family and I could of seriously been hurt. I can retrieve a statement from dun tire in auburn and from mercedes. They are charging me 641. 00 and I'm without a vehicle for 2wks.
In October 2024, the rear subframe was replaced due to rust perforation in the area of the suspension arm mounting bracket. I had no warning. The car was in for routine service at Mercedes Benz of new london. It had rusted from the inside out and was considered unsafe to drive by the mercedes service advisor. I could have had a serious accident! I had no choice but to replace the subframe as it is my only vehicle. Shockingly I learned many others have had this issue with various mercedes models/years and that Mercedes Benz knows of this serious safety problem and there is a class action lawsuit pending but subframe replacement is not covered under warranty by Mercedes Benz, so the cost was mine to bear.
I just purchased a 2011 mercedes C300. I was told that for the past 2-3 years the vehicle would constantly bald out the rear 2 tires and would need replaced every 3 months. As I was driving the vehicle I noticed that the rear tires would make weird noises as if it was hutting something. Upon further investigation the rear sub frame is rotted, which based on research appears to be a very common problem with these vehicles. The rear sub frame is rotted in which caused the lower control arms to completely rot off of the frame posing as a serious safety issue for me when driving with my children and a safety issues for others when I drive on the road. On top of that due to the lower control arms completely rotting off the frame it caused the control arms to hit the gas tank which could catch the car on fire. Mercedes has refused to issue this as a recall in due part to their negligence. Customers cannot afford to pay $5000 for a rotted subframe due to negligence from mercedes. Please research how many vehicles have had rotted subframes for this vehicle. In germany they will repair the rotted subframe free of charge. Mercedes needs to be held accountable for risking peoples lives.
The esl or electronic steering lock is a very common issue with this year and model at around the 70k mile mark. You cannot start the car once this goes out and it’s over $2k to fix.
I purchased my 2017 mercedes c class coupe in 2020, used. Around 2021, I started hear noise from the sunroof when driving on the highway. I went to get it repaired and they mentioned they needed to tighten the screws. This week, I was closing my sunroof and then I heard a crack. I went to a shop to get it manually closed for now on calis 105 degree heat. I am now learning there has been recalls for mercedes 2017+ coupes but it’s not stated for my specific car to get it fixed. How do I go about this? I feel the sunroof is faulty and has been faulty.
The same part that was recalled the starter current limiter has overheated again. The dealership is trying to charge for this same part for diagnostic, parts and labor. The car produces smoke around the battery and melted due to overheating. The battery is new. The car only turns over. . Then immediately overheats. Just because it was recalled and replaced does not mean it is perfect from defaulting again. Please have someone look into this matter.
On my way to work driving 25 miles per hour I could hear my sunroof moving without me touching the controls . I am terrified the sunroof is going to fly off . After work today my car will stayed park . Merecedes benz needs to make this right . To many complaints on this panoramic sunroof on this year of car .
Panoramic sunroof has not worked since I bought my car. Today it started making a weird sound . My sunshade started opening and closing on its own . I have had enough with this sunroof . I feel is no longer safe . There needs to be a recall on it . I have seen other complaints about the sunroofs . I don’t want my sunroof to fly off and cause and injuries to anyone !.
On 07/15/2024, I was on my way home from running errands and proceeded to open my panoramic sunroof using the button inside of my car. When I arrived home, I pressed the button again to close the sunroof. As it began closing and went into the forward position, once it reached the top of my roof, the back of the sunroof would not go down back into place. This left the sunroof open in the venting position. On 07/16/2024, I went to rbm of atlanta where I purchased the vehicle 10/13/2023 to report and resolve the issue. The service center was rude and brushed off my concerns. They were able to manually close the sunroof as a temporary fix and informed me not to use the sunroof button, but they were unable to assist with my diagnostic or repair inquires. However, one of the service employees advised that this was a common issue that was previously recalled. I immediately contacted mbusa where I was connected to a sales rep at rbm of atlanta who also informed me that this was a common issue. Today, 07/24/2024, I went to a diagnostic appt. At rbm of alpharetta and was told by the service advisor that there had been at least 9 recalls for this issue and my sunroof has all of the defective parts that were supposed to be replaced when these recalls took place. He also informed me that I should have been advised of this issue before the vehicle was sold to me. I have attempted to resolve the issue with rbm on five different occasions to no avail. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I believe this issue puts myself and others at risk because if the entire sunroof is defective, it can detach at anytime and possibly hit and injure someone while I'm driving, which would make me liable. As stated previously, I have received confirmation that my sunroof is defective and should have been added to one of the several recalls. The last multi-point inspection was done nearly a year before I bought the car and a repair diagnosis was done today. There were no other signs.
I was told by 2 different vehicle repair shops that the subframe is broken. I just dropped it off at the mercedes service shop near me to look at.
So many Mercedes Benz owner have issues with the code p052e code postive crankcase ventilation regulator valve this should be a recall.
The car is not starting. No dashboard no lights no window function no seat function no radio. Nothing. Ignition lights are not turning on and the car is dead. Car batteries were newly replaced but understand this could be eis and steering lock issues which is common in Mercedes Benz models. Why is manufacturer not compensating / correcting for common errors on his models?.
Crankcase ventilation valve. Pcv valve has failed causing check engine light. Very common issue on this model according to my research. The dealer does not have this product in stock to facilitate a repair and no support to find the part. Very difficult when trying to pass an emissions test and this is the last thing holding that back.
I opened my panoramic sunroof it didn’t open all the way and slammed shut . It didn’t break but if it had there would have been injuries. This is a known problem with this years car . And it needs to corrected .
My car on has 80,000 miles and the camshaft position sprockets needs to be replaced. I went to a mercedes dealer and this was the diagnostic. This causes the engine light to come on, hesitant engine, low acceleration while driving. The dealer said it will cost $8,000 to be replaced and still can go bad. There was a recall for this issue before. Recallcampaign2015100007.
