1 Starter problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 03/07/2019

In February 2019 the C300 engine light came on, took the vehicle to the dealer and they said it was a bad catalytic convertor, and the dealer took three days to repair it. Three weeks later in March 2019, while driving 25 miles per hour straight on a residential street the car shut off without a sound, all the lights on the instrument cluster lit up, and the car coasted to a stop on the side of the road. I trie to restart the car, the starter made noise but the engine would not turn over. I called roadside assistance and did the three time lock and unlock routine, and the car would not start. After towing the car back to the same dealer, they told me the car was showing no codes, the issue could not be replicated and the car should be fine to drive again! I'm now afraid to drive the vehicle, and the dealer is refusing to fix it.

3 Starter problem of the 2016 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

My car has a safety risk open recall since February 08, 2017 that has not been fixed. I have not been contacted by an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer to take my car in and remedy the safety recall. The recall notice states summary: daimler ag (dag), the manufacturer of mercedes-benz vehicles, has decided that on certain c-class (205 platform), e-class (213 platform) and glc (253 platform) vehicles, the starting current limiter could be overloaded under certain conditions during the starting procedure. In the event the starter is blocked due to engine/transmission damage (e. G. Hydro locked engine), a very high electric current would flow through the starting current limiter during the subsequent start attempt. Should the driver attempt to start the engine repeatedly despite the engine not cranking, the very high electric current draw might lead to overheating of the starting current limiter. In a worst case, surrounding components might melt, and potentially ignite and lead to a fire. Safety risk: in the event the starter is blocked due to engine/transmission damage (e. G. 4 Starter problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 12/02/2016

2008 mercedes C300 with bad esl. Cost to fix is $1200. Seems like this is a known issues with mercedes as an internet search leads to many other who have had the same issue. I parked the car at work, then went out several hours later to go to lunch and it would not start. There was no sound of the starter or any other noises when trying to start the car. I thought it was the battery, but all the lights and everything else electrical worked on the car. Just to be safe, tried to jump the car, but it still did not start. Car was stuck and could not shift it into neutral. Had to call a tow truck to get it towed my local mbz dealer. Turns out it has a bad esl.

5 Starter problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 mercedes-benz C300. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v081000 (air bags) and 16v363000 (air bags). The contact stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer (dick dyer mercedes-benz and Volvo, 5825 two notch rd, columbia, SC 29223, (803) 786-8888) did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. In addition, the key would not turn over intermittently and prevented the vehicle from starting. The dealer replaced the ignition switch, which did not prevent the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the starter needed to be replaced. The contact was uncertain if the dealer and the manufacturer would be able to provide a solution or if the oem part would fail again, if replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the concerns with the two air bag recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

6 Starter problem of the 2009 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

The car was running fine. It was parked and shut off. When I returned, the car would not start. It was not the battery. The steering would not unlock. The car had to be towed in for repair. The dealer had to make the repair as it was an issue with either the eis or a starter issue. Inskip mercedes can identify exactly what was wrong as they did the repair.

8 Starter problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

The key locks and unlocks the doors the lights come on and the dash lights up. You can insert and turn the key but the car will not start. The stering wheel is locked and it is stuck in park. I tried power jumping and it did nothing, I didn't think the battery was the problem but had it checked anyways. The battery checked out fine. I check the fuses that are associated with the starter and all was fine also. Only thing left was get it towed to the mercedes dealership, found out that the steering wheel lock issue is a common thing with my car model, eis failure seems increasingly common on 2008 models for some reason.

9 Starter problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 09/07/2014

Mercedes electronic steering lock (esl) failed. Car would not start due to the key not being recognized. Everything else in the car works electronically, radio, windows, lights, etc. Battery was tested was is fine. Starter was fine. All fuses were fine. Towed to mercedes and had esl changed for more than a thousand dollars. Heard a lot of similar complaints online about this particular failure with same models. This should be a recall as mercedes is aware of this and is not owning up to their mistake.

10 Starter problem of the 2008 Mercedes Benz C300

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Mercedes electronic steering lock (esl) failed. Car would not start due to the key not being recognized. I was able to close and open the doors, lights came on, but would not start. Battery was tested was is fine. Starter was fine. All fuses were fine. Towed to mercedes and the esl is being changed at the cost of $1200. 00 . The automobile is still at the dealership one week later. Heard a lot of similar complaints online about this particular failure with the same models. I have spoken to Mercedes Benz of America in montvale NJ, but they insist since the auto is past the warranty period they cannot help me financially with the repairs, there should be a recall as mercedes is aware of this and is not owning up to their mistake. There are many similar experiences and complaints from other owners with the C300 2008, 2009, and 2010 models. I knew what the mechanical/electrical issue was from reading the varied stories online and experiences from other owbers, before it was diagnosed and looked at from the mercedes dealership.
