Air Bag Problems of Mercedes Benz CLA250

The year and model of my car has been recalled for a steering column module/clock spring. Mercedes says my VIN is not in the recall. This is a safety concern as an airbag will not deploy. I believe I should be included in the recall.

May 3, 2023 - I had pulled back into my driveway approximately at 8:45 am after leaving a couple of minutes before to run errands. I turned the car off and went inside of my house for less than five minutes. I got back into my car, started the vehicle and the airbag exploded unexpectedly while I was in my driveway. Of course, I was shocked and confused as to what had happened. My husband was inside the house and came out to check on me. I received surface burns on both of my forearms, my left pinky finger was bent in an unnatural position and part of my left pinky fingernail was missing. It was a true blessing that I was in my driveway and not driving on the open road. I went to the doctor a few hours later to get checked out, where it was confirmed by x-rays that I had fractured my left pinky finger, which made it very difficult to do my job. I was traumatized from this incident to say the least. My car sat at the end of my driveway in the same place where the airbag deployed until may 10th. May 9, 2023 - I made my first call to mercedez benz USA care to report what had happened with my mercedes 2016 Cla250 the previous week and for them to advise me as to what I shoud do. I was advised by mbusa care representative to have my car towed to an authorized Mercedes Benz dealership in kansas city. Because of the late hour of the business day, I decided to have the car towed to the dealership the next day. May 10, 2023 - the vehicle was towed to an authorized mercedes dealer, aristocrat motors in kansas city. From what I've been told, my vehicle was inspected some time during the last half of June. Because this is considered a legal matter by mbusa, I have not received any further communication from them. My car has been in "lock down" at the dealership since in was towed there on may 10th. I have reached out to the referral manager at mbusa on countless occasions via both telephone and email. We have made three car payments and have no car to drive.

Component failure was steering column module. Safety issue was air bag could inadvertently deploy while driving. Recall NHTSA # 17v627 was issued. Vehicle inspected by stargate garage, caliber collision and mercedes of pompano beach FL. Message displayed was front left malfunction and red warning light for srs system. Warning message and red light appeared 18 months after dealer supposedly repaired this recalled item. Vehicle was returned to dealer to make proper repair on this recalled item and they refused to replace it. Steering column module was replace by stargate garage and the message left front malfunction and red light warning srs no longer appears on instrument panel. Stargate garage was paid $685 to make this repair which should have been the dealer's responsibility. Therefor I am requesting that the dealer reimburse me my out of pocket expense of $685. 00 since it was there responsibility to make this repair under the recall that was issued. I was unable to upload my documentation so I will also be sending this information in the mail.

The system that appeared to malfunction is the front airbags sensors. I drove past an accident on the freeway the left by some rocks/debris in the road. I steered away from the rocks avoiding my tires, however, both of my front airbags deploy as if I collided with something. This has completely disabled my vehicle on the freeway, and shattered my windshield. I had the car towed to a repair shop for further diagnostic, and they confirmed there is no front end impact or collision on my vehicle. There is minor undercarriage scrapping, but it isn't near the airbag sensor. There were no warning lights on my vehicle prior to this, and my vehicle has been in no accidents. What caused my airbags to deploy if there was no impact?.

My sister was driving across town and came across some uneven payment near a construction zone. She hit a small-medium sized pothole and it somehow triggered both the front and rear passenger airbags to deploy. There was no damage significant impact when it happened and no damage to the exterior of the car (tire, wheel, fender). It happened today (Saturday) so it was taken to a local independent repair facility. Will know more Monday. Parts available for inspection upon request, of course.

1) the truck opens for no reason whether the car is parked or driven without trunk feature being activated. This happens when driving down a 4 lane highway at night and day. 2) collision prevention of light displayed & won't go off. (see attached). Google indicates that the passenger air bag has an issue.

Right air bag malfunction error and check engine light for crank case. This is a very common problem that mercedes explained to me and also told me to check back for recalls because their vni system will probably show one.

Still no remedy for passenger airbag for my 2016 mercedes e400. How long does mercedes have to fix the problem?.

I was involved in an accident and hit on the drivers side front and back door. I thought it was weird the airbags did not deploy. I had over $100k in medical bills and still require another surgery.

Air bags: frontal- sounds like the airbag lock spring is broken for no reason. I can hear the click when I turn. The digital dash reads "front left malfunction" and won'y go away no matter what I push. It also has an electrical system: starter assembly issue- the engine or transmission won't turn over a lot due to it. My car only had 40k miles.

Was notified by Mercedes Benz that my vehicle was included in the takata airbag recall and that replacement parts would not be available until Dec 2018. Since it was the only vehicle I owned and I had to continue work I drove the vehicle with defective parts until I was involved in an automobile accident in July 2018. I am now disabled after a lengthy hospital & rehab stay and had to several surgeries in order to walk/limp again in 2019. I was hit almost head on and was okay until the airbag deployed and I felt a sharp burning sensation in my lower extremities and could not move afterwards. Ems pulled me out of my car and I was admitted to hospitalicu. I am unable to fully function with my mobility, lost my job, cannot drive due to nerve damage to my ankle, leg and hip and currently receiving disability pay. The company that towed my totaled Mercedes Benz noted that the airbag was in "poor condition". I just realized after many months of medication and pain that I have not heard anything else from Mercedes Benz in regards to this matter and would like to join any class action lawsuit that is available in regards to this matter, as I should have never been sold this vehicle in 2016 without this matter being disclosed!!!.

"takata recall" why do it take so long to fix this problem. Also I see where mercedes is covering themselves by sending a letter to warn you, so you can't bring up no charges. Why don't you don't offer loner cars until this problem is fix. You shouldn't have anyone driving these cars in this condition. You need to take care of your customers. These cars cost to much money to have these problems and you not take care of your customers. After this I will not being buy another mercedes and I will let my friends know as well all the problems you have if you buy one.

"takata recall" the driver was killed in a car accident on March 21st 2018 and the car was on a recall. The accident was at ockechobee road, miami, FL with 11th street. The car was in motion. The driver received a letter from mercedes-benz in November 2017 stating that the car had an insufficient electrical grounding in the steering column components and that this could lead to an inadvertent deployment of the driver airbag causing a risk of a potential crash, but that unfortunately the remedy was not available yet. Despite of this, the driver took the car to a mercedez-bens dealer in the same month, on November 29th 2017, and nothing was made about the problem. The accident was tragic. It was at 2:40pm and two minutes before 2:38pm the driver spoke to his wife and everything was well. Also the autopsy didn't show anything wrong with his healthy conditions. He was an amazing father, husband and very calm person. A part of the investigations shows that there is no break marks on the floor, which shows that the drive lost the control of the car. His son (16) was in the car with him and had a lot of injuries and still is recovering. Because all of this evidences, I believe that the airbag deployed on his face causing him to loose control of the car.

My vehicle has had a recall since January 2018 with a remedy scheduled for fix April 2020. There has been no update at all as to what is going on or when my vehicle will be fixed. It is now mid June 2020 with no fix in sight. This is not a timely manner and is the worst experience I have ever had owning a car. Over two years that the recall isn't fixed and now over 2 months since the fix was supposed to happen. This is unacceptable and I am tired of waiting without any updates or remedy.

Spoke with receptionist who told me that there was no recall (tammy or chrystal). Called back and luis told me that there was a recall but no solution. What do I do? continue driving at risk with my child in the car!!!!???.

"takata recall" what purpose does this recall serve if the manufacturer still does not have a "remedy" available? I have 3 benz's, all affected by this recall and for over 1 year the dealer cannot repair due to "no remedy yet avail". So in the meantime, we should drive and pray that something tragic does not occur?.

I have 2 mercedes, 2013 e350 convertible and a 2017 e400 coupe. Both purchased new. Both have had airbag recalls for years. Dealer says they have no idea when they will get parts to replace. I would think that mercedes would have a solution by now.
