Unknown- the check engine light came on and was taken for a diagnostic test and it returned a p052e code. This indicates a fault in the positive crankcase ventilation regulator valve performance. This is a known issue with Mercedes Benz as there has been a recall for all the models except the cla.

I was driving to work on Thursday, September 11th. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise like an explosion. Upon checking, I saw that my sunroof had exploded, shattering glass everywhere. The loud noise startled me, causing me to almost have an accident. I managed to pull over, check my vehicle, and drive it back home. I've contacted my insurance company and documented the damage with photos.
My 2016 cla 250 having multiple electrical and driving issues that are not recalled. I’ve researched online and found most of these issues are common. 1. Dashboard screen and radio console lights turn off completely. Usb connection triggers electrical symptoms. Front and back seat window control (driver) triggers electrical symptoms and sometimes corrects the problems. Trunk opens by itself while parked and/or stopped at red lights. The instrument cluster has times multiple warning lights turn on and stay on. At times the fuel needle drops completely down as if I have no fuel in the car. The instrument cluster lights stay on after I have turned the car off and locked it as if the system is confused. I have more issues but those are a few to name. I also have video and pictures to prove these things happen randomly then the vehicle can go back to operating normally. I’ve taken it to service and all they have done is reset the warnings.
Check engine light with error code p052e. From my research, this is a very common issue with this engine and one that either has been recalled or is planning to be recalled. According to some online forums for Mercedes Benz, mercedes is being sued over this problem and has issued an extended warranty on certain models because of how common this problem has become. The list of models needs to be expanded to include other models experiencing the same problem.
My rear subframe rusted from the inside out and due to the rust my control arm broke off.

I was driving down the highway without any vehicles in front of me at around 65mph when all of a sudden my panoramic roof exploded out of nowhere, it sounded like a gunshot going off inside the car and I nearly crashed my vehicle from the sudden explosion, I luckily had the glass shade cover up and glass did not fall in my face, I had my [xxx] daughter and [xxx] son in the backseat and they are now terrified to get back into any vehicle. This is extremely dangerous situation and will cause a serious accident in the future if not fixed. Nothing hit my roof and I wasn’t even using it at the time no one touched the thing, it just exploded out of nowhere. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The component that malfunctioned is the crankcase valve. This valve malfunction has caused issues will the car is idle. The issue has been confirmed by the dealership. The issue has been inspected by the manufacturer as the manufacturer has released extended warranties on other models. The malfunction causes the check engine light to come on, however in the past it has gone off before a diagnostic test could be run; the check engine light would come on and go off then go on and go off, the exact amount of time is unknown.
The panoramic sunroof on my 2015 Mercedes Benz cla 250 4matic spontaneously exploded while I was driving. It was a clear sunny day with no weather and there were no vehicles in front of me that could have kicked up a rock. It sounded like a gunshot, and I scared enough that I veered into another lane. Thankfully I did not hit another vehicle. I had very small superficial cuts on my arm and back. The dealership does not acknowledge any manufacturing defect on the sunroof. After some research I have found there is an open class action lawsuit against Mercedes Benz for this exact issue. The was no warning prior to the issue. There was nothing to inspect as it was just a pile of broken class laying in my car.
I was driving on hwy 301 in maryland at 5am. My sunroof exploded. It was like a bomb went off hatterung glass all over my face and body.

Exploding sunroof. Dealership will not accept responsibility even though this is a known issue with their cars. This exploded on the highway and could have caused major issues for other drivers and myself with flying glass. There was not any external impact that caused the explosion. Mercedes needs to recall and fix this issue to prevent other accidents.

As I was driving yesterday afternoon, I heard a noise and normally we don't hear any type of noise or air coming into the car. I decided to open the sunroof to see if there was something wrong with it like if it was stuck open or if something was stuck in it, and the whole sunroof almost flew off the car. I had to pull over as fast as I could into the break down lane and it took me a while to close it and it still seems to be open, I didn't see anything stuck in the guide rails or in the area when closing it. I was very scared for the safety of my children and myself and for the other drivers on the highway. I have made an appointment so the shop and check the car out and run some diagnostics. There are no warning lights or messages prior to the sunroof almost flying off the car.
There is a service recall campaign for my model car but dealer/mercedes USA doesn't have the recall linking my car to it from my VIN. Campaign number is p-rc-2021070010. It is to replace the front stationary sunroof panel because it may not have been bonded correctly and could fly off and hit someone. My vehicle did have this same part rattle in 2017 during a cross-country trip.
Nov 01,2023 manufacturer recall number: 2024010010 NHTSA recall number: 23v732 recall status: recall incomplete the manufacturer has failed and is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner.
I have 2 mecedes with the same issue per Mercedes Benz of USA inspection causing engine light to be triggered per diagnosis testing ran on both cars. 2015 VIN #wdctg4gb0fj172856 gla 250 4 matic-p052e71 2016 VIN #wddsj4gb4gn372013 cla 250 matic -p052e71 I was told by a mercedes services advisior that both cars have the same engine for a 2015gla and a 2016 cla - both due to both cars stalling in traffic on multiple time when driving I took both to the shop to run further testing to discover both had the same engine light trigger which is the crankshaft (aka) oil seperator (aka)intake tube due to this both cars have suffered an issue when taking emmission test - mercedes dignosis testing codes -p052e71 - crankshaft venilation malfunction - car will not pass emmission test and this part defects also causes car to stall that can possible cause accident this part complete repair could cost up to $2500-$3000 for parts and labor part number -270-090-07-00 (crankshaft) the engine light issue triggered by crankshaft and will not pass emmission testing due to this description of this part below: crankcase ventilation is the process of venting or removing blow-by from an engine's crankcase to prevent excessive pressure build-up within the engine. Blow-by gases are mixed with oil mist and other contaminants that can harm an engine's internal components and contaminate the environment. How does the crankshaft ventilation work- when the vehicle is moving, airflow across the open end of the tube creates suction (a "draught" or draft) that pulls gases out of the crankcase. To prevent too much vacuum being created, the blow-by gases are replaced by fresh air using a device called a breather. The breather is often located in the oil cap the engine misfires, you may have trouble getting your vehicle up to speed. Misfires often happen when your vehicle is under load while accelerating. This can result in slow or sluggish acceleration or a jerking motion while pressing down on acc.

I was driving down the highway yesterday when my front stationary sunroof panel flew off the top of the vehicle onto ongoing traffic. I have attached a picture of the exposed panel area now that the panel is gone. Thankfully it looks like it hit the ground before it could hit another vehicle. I came on here to see if there was a recall on that piece since it just flew off and it seems there was but my VIN number must not be included. This makes no sense since my vehicle is in the same year and model as the other recalls. This issue could have hit another car and seriously hurt someone this needs to be addressed on all those vehicles. The recall I found is campaign number 2021070010, NHTSA 21v197.
Sunroof shattered and exploded while driving.

Roof front panel coating peeling off - there has been a recall for this issue on most Mercedes Benz of my year - not just my model- seems to consistently be an issue for the front panel between windshield and sunroof- https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/rcl/2021/rcmn-21v197-6244. Pdf my specific VIN wasnt included in the recall but I am having the exact same issue- mercedes told me to reach out to NHTSA to see about getting my VIN batch included in recall or re-issue broader recall to include my VIN # - they will not replace otherwise - so many people online have same issue as me and obviously it was enough of a hazard that the first recall was issued but there are more cars affected by it than what was covered. Have tried to upload photos but the button dissapears when I click on upload https://mbworld. Org/forums/s-class-w222/842025-plastic-above-windshield-recall. Html.

As I was driving, the car is on d but it slips into n and I cannot shift to any other gear accept p. This happens randomly and happened three times. I noticed the gla250 also had this issue. I have to turn off my engine and restart my car to get it running again normally.
On 4/27 I was driving home on the freeway and there were little to no cars around me. There were no large trucks or debris coming from above me and there was no harsh weather. I heard a loud pop when I was driving and I pulled over and my whole sunroof shattered. The sunroof also has not been opened that day. The problem won’t be suspension is that when going over rough roads or bumps, my car squeaks. As for the steering, when I drive above 50 mph and I brake, the car shakes. I’ve already taken it to two car shops to get it fixed and it problem persists.
When accelerating, the car loses power. My teenager was almost hit by another car as she was trying to enter the highway via an off-ramp. It happens very often. This started occurring at 60k! when stopped with your foot on the brake or even in park, the car goes slams backward and cuts the engine back to a rev. This has been occurring since 37k. Additionally, there is a loud clunking noise when you turn the wheel. This has been occurring since 50k. Power seat on driver’s side loses all power and locks. This has been replaced/repaired three times! glove box locked and will not unlock even with key. All of these issues are frequently reported via complaint sites, yet no recalls on this very expensive car. . Read more...
Inside the car smells gas either idle or running. Dashboard lights flactuate and sometimes the gas gage doesn't show how much fuel you have left. Command system shuts off after 3 mins even the engine is on. But mainly, the gas smell in the car. Have trouble breathing at times and I don't haveany underlying condition.
P052e: positive crankcase ventilation regulator valve performance. It is available for inspection upon request. It was a problem that was confirmed by two independent service centers. It first appeared at around 30k miles, then the engine light disappeared. At around 40k, it starts to intermittently appears and disappears, most of the time the engine light was off, my mechanics checked at it, said it was not uncommon to see this problem with mercedes and said it won't affect driving. At around 50k it starts to appear more often, still intermittently. I got a second opinion with another mechanics, was told again that he saw this happening commonly with mercedes. Crankcase alone cannot be replaced, I'll need to replace the whole thing which part cost 750+, with 1200+ labor at an independent service center, and the local mercedes dealer quote double the price.
My car randomly caught on fire, it was parked in my apartment garage for a week while I was out of town. I came back to use my car and my car remote wasn’t unlocking the car so I unlocked it manually. When I opened the car it wreaked of smoke, the windows were covered in soot, the visors were bubbled up, the passenger seat had a chunk missing. It was investigated by a car shop for my insurance and the car shop said they felt like the fire started from the wires under the passenger seat. Of course it was deemed a total loss and now I’m out of car. I hadn’t even had the car a year.
I was driving on the street and lost power, I looked down and saw a red transmission message and noticed that my vehicle was in neutral. I hurried, and stepped on the break and put my car in drive. I drove 5 minutes to my destination. A few hours later, as I was leaving my destination, my car did the same thing. I lost power, the red transmission light popped up and my car was in neutral. I noticed it once a few months ago and thought it was minor. As I reflect, I have had a few instances where I was driving and my acceleration was off. I took the streets to the mechanic today and they stated that they could not find anything wrong with the car.
The sunroof no longer works. Found pieces of plastic in the guide rails as the shoe horn pieces seems to be broken apart and had to force my sunroof to close and now it whistles as I am on the highway. I have seen hundreds of complains about this on the Mercedes Benz message boards.
My son was driving it on highway and noticed smoke and fire from rear driver side. Thankfully he was able to get car on shoulder and the whole car lit up in flame. Firefighters and police rescued them and there was no indication on what started this fire. Police has filed report as misc that it could be from car fuel line or such, there was no other problems with car and it has been services by mercedes dealer all along.
Back up camera stop working. Putting gear on reverse does not prompt the camera screen. Called dealer if there is a recall. No recall for this issue and not covered. Read online article that 2018 cla 250 are effected by this software error(issue). Want to get it fixed because this is a safety issue.
On may 10th while driving on I-35 texas highway, san antonio texas, the panoramic sunroof of our 2015 Mercedes Benz cla 250 completely shattered while wife driving and daughter as a passenger, they heard a big bang and suddenly pieces of shattered glass fell all over the interior some of the glass hitting my wife and daughter in the face, they immediately pulled over to evaluate the situation. This could have caused an accident or significant injury. She had sapd meet her at a gas station as she thought someone has shot at the glass, but officer confirmed that indeed the panoramic sunroof completely shattered. We tried to fix the panoramic roof and both mercedes dealerships in san antonio and boerne texas refused to repair the panoramic sunroof, we had to file a claim with our insurance and take the car to a collision center. The collision center stated that the sunroof was on back order from mercedes corp and had no timeline as to when the part would be available. Due to the car was not safe to drive and timeline on the parts, our insurance offered to total the car, but the car is almost new, low miles and in perfect mechanical condition so we declined. We received a call 4 months later that the car was fixed and the panoramic roof was installed.
Just replaced water pump and still need to replace positive crankcase ventilation system hose.

The panoramic sunroof failed to close after it was opened. I attempted to close the sunroof after use and it stayed open. This is concerning as debris could have flown into the car and impaired operation. Another concern is the short-circuiting/fire risk of the internal wiring and components in the event of rain. We took the car to the dealership where an associate told us that this is a common problem with cla class cars. This was the only inspection of the car thus far. There were no messages or warnings prior to the failure.
