The sunroof has a recall due to the fact that it has a bad seal, which could fly off due to this issue. I know the seal is bad because the whole roof leaked a few years ago and fried all the electronic; e. G. Lights, sunroof controls, trunk light controls, side door controls. I went to the dealership and they said they would not fix it because they could not open the sunroof to see the manufacturer date on it.

Driver seatbelt exploded while buckled up as the car was going about 30 mph on a 4 lane street. No warning and was very traumatic. I had to pull over when I smelled something burning. When I released seatbelt to get out of the car it would not buckle up when I tried to get back in the seat. Had to drive home without seatbelt on christmas eve. The same thing happened a month later to the passenger seatbelt when I was a passenger in my car. This was very traumatic while driving down a 4 lane avenue.

October 26, 2022 my 2004 mercedes model E320 w211 VIN # [xxx] dash pop out warning " brake wearing visit workshop" October 27, 2022 I had the brake pads and wear sensors both replaced and test drive verified car running normal for 30 minutes then dash pop out red warning "brake malfunction stop vehicle" plus transmission shifter stick to parking port can not be shift to other position, so can not drive and car being forced to stop on the road, I managed to press the lock off so can shift out of parking but there has no brake function when driving, I called mb USA and being advised that my car qualified to 25 years extended warranty for sbc hydraulic pump repair, 2005070007 2005110001 but when I tow my car to mercedes dealer they said it only repair the recall: 2020040011 - sliding roof bonding - phase 2, but the sbc hydraulic pump may be at additional service charges, please help investigate why mercedes USA said it is under 25 years extended warranty while dealer said it might not qualify? car can not drive because of the sbc hydraulic pump problem and defected the driving safety? best regards/[xxx] email: [xxx] tel: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Everytime I get in my car, the battery is dead! I have purchased several brand new batteries, and the same thing! I purchased a new battery, and my wife and I went on vacation, and as we was headed back home, we began to smell a real foul oder! we stop to the gas station, and looked everywhere, but didn't see anything! as we continue to drive, and turned in the drive way the battery light came on! I opened the trunk, and there was the foul smell, and the battery was so hot it could have caught fire, luckily we was home.
The glue around front windshield has deteriorated and has caused major damage to my interior lights, electrical essemblys , interior damage to seats , dash board and flooring. Including the trunk seal is also deteriorated and causing the battery to stop working and has made my car non drivable.
The trunk will not open. It is supposed to open by pressing the button on the key fob or taking the thin key out of the key fob and manually open the truck with the keyed lock. Neither method works. There is absolutely no way to open the trunk otherwise (I. E. Inside button or lever). When the key fob button and the thin key do not work there is absolutely no way to open the truck. There is no way to access the lock from the trunk lid rear and there is no way to access the trunk from behind the back seat cushions. It is a very bad situation and dangerous.
The vehicle will flood after being exposed to rain which has caused all sorts of electrical issues. I have read online where several others have filed lawsuits regarding e class mercedes for similar issues. The car’s interior will take on water and since there’s several electrical components running along the floor board of the car they will become damaged and cause the car’s computers and electrical system to go crazy. I picked up my car from having the oil changed at a local service shop a few days after it was repaired and I was driving back home after the service pick up and the car completely lost power. I got out of the car and opened the trunk in which I had to do so by using the key inside of the key fob. When I opened the trunk, I noticed that there was a little bit of water in the trunk which led me to open the back door and to my surprise there was standing water behind the driver seat. I checked the driver floor and it was soaked as well. I had the car towed back to the shop where I had the oil changed and the owner did not have the available equipment to test the car. I dried the car out over the next several days and drove to a local mercedes dealership where they told me to do a full diagnostic on the car it would cost upwards of $19k. Are you kidding me? now I know from reading others stories that this isn’t an unknown issue. So, what do I do now…file an insurance claim? I guess that would be the next step but they’ll turn around and get the money right back out of me by raising my policy rates. This is terrible. My car is a 2004 E320 with just under 65k miles on it.
Engine caught on fire while vehicle was idling in park in the driveway. Completely destroyed the vehicle in 10-15 minutes. Fire started under the hood. I believe that there was an electrical problem that induced the fire but unable to be sure. Photos are available if needed. The car was in good maintenance, no engine work had been done recently. Last repair was a transmission fluid replacement after repairing a transmission fluid leak in early December 2018.

8/31/18 in motion on a city street, the cabin filled with smoke (from a fire but no flame was seen) I had to open all windows to breath and see. My home was within sight so I drove to the middle of my lawn away from any building, the key would not turn, the car would not shut down. I as quickly as posable disconnected the battery to shut down.

There is a high level of rf being emitted inside the cabin of the car. The level is so high it pushes pulsed rf waves against an aluminum emergency blanket that was set up to identify which direction it was coming from. This method showed it is coming from multiple direction within the cabin. This is with the engine off and windows rolled up. Also lf l leave the car and come back within less than a minute the climate inside will knock me out, or make me very sleepy. I have to immediately get out of the car and walk 50 to 70 feet away from it to stop this from happening if l catch it in time. Most of the time l do not and someone is using this defect to steal items from the car, destroy the interior ad along with a host of illegal activity while l am passed out inside. Because this dangerous activity happens 90 percent of the time the rf may be remotely controlled. Also l have almost been knocked out while driving on several different occasions. Thanks to jesus christ l was able to pull the car over and recover. In addition the rf will isolate and freeze different body parts individually similar to the therapeutic procedure of cool sculpting. Multiple police reports have been made and the dealership notified. The car marker was notified by phone but refuse to help.
The car is being hacked into by multiple individuals across triple cities. The hackers are able to lock and unlock the doors, shift gears, turn on the check engine light, control the radio and cd player, open the hood to steal oil and control the complete functionality of the car. Including turning on the cabin lights, blacking out the odometer along with the fuel gauge, and shutting the car off when desired this includes in the middle of the street. Because they can unlock the doors and roll down the windows they have access to the hood and gas door. This allowed them to break the radiator, damage the catalytic converter, and steal gas. Also since the hackers have access they have destroyed the drivers seat, crack the wood on the steering wheel and door trim, removed the right and left front doors, and destroyed the center arm rest. The rf field is controlled by them, and loud cracking sounds are remotely introduced when the car is stationary and key removed. The tele- aid is also activities remotely on occasion as well. The fbi has been notified numerous times to no avail along with the car maker who told me not to contact them again. Three dealerships checked out the car and none knew how to deal with the issue. Mercedes benz in germany was notified by emai and said mercedes USA has my information I'm their legal department. This was over 2 years ago with no contact from them regarding this issue. All attempts to reach them by phone via customer service has failed. Multiple police reports have been made with several police departments.
The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz E320. The brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the battery warning indicator flashed on the instrument panel. The manufacturer indicated that the statute to receive an extended service campaign expired; therefore, they refused to repair the vehicle. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v133000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
Ignition and key defects causes car to stop running and stall. Steering wheel locks while car is in motion.

My mint condition w210 '00 E320 mercedes caught fire last week while my wife was pulling into her high rise office garage in downtown seattle. Fortunately, she was able to escape without injury before the fire grew and consumed the whole engine compartment. This engine fire started on its own with no outside factors. This car had been fully maintained during my 11 year ownership by mercedes of bellevue and mercedes of seattle. The car only had 155,000 miles on it, still fairly low mileage compared to the other mercedes I have owned over the years. I notified mercedes of seattle about this incident. No one in service seemed particularly concerned at the dealership, although they mentioned they have never seem a w210 catch on fire and burn on its own. Thus my message to you.
On July 5th on a busy city street in charlotte nc the brakes suddenly locked and brought the car to a stop. The cars behind me were able to avoid a rear end accident. There were no warning lights on at the time but once the brakes locked the bas/esp lights appeared. I got off of the street and turned the car off and on the restart all lights went off. Tried to drive the car home but within one mile the same thing happened again. I was scared to drive it so I had to be towed.
My vehicle was parked in front of store allowing a 93 year old lady to go shopping,as I was parked ther I was sideswiped, I immediately took it to the auto shop to have it repaired, after doing this I discoverd that the key can't start the car because the ignition is jammed or key will not turn, so the car won't start. I called a locksmith and discovered that the ignition is defected.

Reference!!! pe 12001. Having problems previously complained about strong odor of gas from car when in garage and also kids complain of strong fume odor especially in backseat drivers side!!! now having problems w the seal of gas cap!?! some research showed that a fuel leak will make car report gas cap loose--( when it's not). Happens daily now'!! pleas create a recall-- blogs like crazy about other e class owners experiencing same exact problems'!!!.
There is a sensor in the passenger seat that is defective causing the front passenger airbag to turn off, even when a passenger is properly seated.
I changed the low beam halogen bulbs in my headlights when I discovered that the wire leads to the bulb had lost nearly all of their insulation, exposing bare wire. The insulation flakes were sitting in the bottom of the capsule that contains the light assembly, which is normally closed, accessed by a removable "door". Both headlights had this same issue. This is an obvious sparking/fire danger, so I applied electrical tape over the wires. Had I not changed the bulbs [they lose brightness over the years], I would have been unaware of this danger. I am concerned that this same wire insulation has been used throughout the vehicle. I am amazed that mercedes has not issued a recall on this. I purchased this car new in 2007.

The sunroof leaks causing electrical damage. I rarely use the sunroof. Maybe I have used the sunroof 5x. The sunroof should not leak after rare use. The electrical should not be damaged. Apparently, the drains in the sunroof get clogged and the water drains into trunk. This is a design defect. Please investigate. I notice the same issue with many others on line. Thank you.
Driving south on i95 near savannah the dash lights including the brake light lit up on the dashboard and the vehicle began decelerating. Applied the emergency brake and was able to drive the vehicle to the shoulder. After the engine was shut off the vehicle could be started but could not get from park into a gear or even neutral. All four wheels were frozen and so getting the car on to the tow truck was almost impossible. Were towed to the nearest mercedes dealership where the sbc system was replaced. This took over night as the part was not available at the dealership. Besides being greatly inconvenienced - we had to spend a night in a hotel, we could have been killed if this would have occurred at night. The car was serviced by mercedes since purchase new in 2004. The part should have been identified during a service call, this obviously was a recall that was kept quiet. Not informing the owners of this potentially deadly issues is a major negligence on mercedes part.
I purchased my car from a used car dealership of course I expected to have to have minor work done on it. Immediately noticed that the heater didn't work when I had it repaired I was told that some valve often gets stuck on these cars the dealership always run diagnostics on your car whether you want them to or upon running the diagnostic I was advised the my new used card would need about $6k in work done from the hood to the trunk I decided to keep the car and get the major work done in stages 1st thing I had done was front break pads and rotors although I opted to have the work completed by an authorized repair shop and not the dealship for obvious reasons (cost) not once did the dealership complete recall repair work or even mention it to me that there were several recalls and my car needed to have those repairs completed but rather over charged me for ball joints plus several other things that more than likely did not need to be repaired. I felt completely taken advantage of and raised my concern adamantly to little avail. I took my car to the dealership multiple time prior to the expriration of the said 10yr extended warranty with regard to the sbc failing not once did they mention or repair it knowing full well that the main purpose of me bringing my car to them was specifically due to the brake warning light being illuminated on the dash I was told that it was some type of sensor not a big deal to worry about that my car would continue to stop and there was no need to replace the said sensor an unnecessary cost since my breaks were fine I told them my breaks weren't fine it was taking too long for the car to slow down and stop they did nothing that was 2012 the condition worsened and the light went from white to red I decided to research online a few months ago and came across 3 recalls I called mbusa they told me the warranty expired November 2013.
While driving at 45mph to go to work my car lost the brakes. The display showed brakes defective. Luckily I had plenty of space to stop the car with emergency brakes. I did diagnostic on the car and the sensotronic brake control sbc unit as mercedes-benz calls it (the brake unit) was defective. This is unacceptable defect and could be life threatening to others if they loose the brakes like I did while driving. Dealer diagnosed the car as well and replaced the sbc pump.
It started with a esp warning on the cluster, with increased brake distance, after restart the warning was gone, after many months the warning came back on in Nov of 2013, went back off and came back on Jan 14 2014, called the mercedes dealer in nashville TN, was advised that the auto did have a recall on the sbc unit, which is the abs brake system, but the recall ended on 11-12, which I do not understand how a saftey recall can exprire with mileage or date. The repair will cost about $2000. 00 with no manufacture support or help. Merecedes has know about the bosch system have only so many brake cycles, I purchased this vehicle used in 2009 and have never received any infomation on the recall. This is not the way a recall is supposed to work. . Mercedes said sorry, thats not good enough, this is the saftey of my family and others that own these vehciles.
The passenger side front low beam headlamp stopped working. We changed the light bulb, but that did not correct the problem. We noted that the socket for the passenger side low beam appeared burnt. We took it to a mechanic who rewired the right front low beam light socket and wire harness. After this initial problem, the driver side high beam headlamp stopped working. We replaced the lamp bulb. We noted that the driver side high beam headlamp socket appeared burnt. We did not replace the driver side high beam headlamp socket. So it does not work. After the above two problems, the driver side rear brake, tail, and parking lamp stopped working. We changed the lamp bulb, but that did not correct the problem. The driver side rear brake, tail, and parking lamp socket did not appear burnt. Instead the lamp was lose and could not be tightened. We used black electric tape to hold the lamp in place, which has worked. However, we must periodically re-tape.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Mercedes Benz E320. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the fuel gauge was showing displayed erroneous readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel system had failed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that the fuel injection and fuel gauge needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact stated that after only driving one block the speedometer would display one mile. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Pam.
The contact owned a 1999 Mercedes Benz e-320. While driving approximately 70 mph the air bags deployed. The vehicle was pulled over and shut off. Smoke was coming from the vehicle and it was towed to an insurance company lot where it was declared destroyed. The failure and current mileages were 112,000. Updated 02/23/lj the consumer stated an investigator concluded something happened within the electrical system, but was unable to say specifically what it was. Updated 02/28/11.
2003 E320 mercedes brake failure!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I bought this car in 07 with 65,000 miles a good deal. Fine car! however. . . Today while driving to work a red brake failure warning. . . Flashes across the screen and my car would not stop!!! I am rolling across a small country rd bridge and thankfully am at the bottom of a steep hill. The brake pedal just flopped. . Nothing. . I managed to get it into park and get out with the car still running!!! I've had it towed two hours away. . . While waiting on my husband to get home to go the dealership with me, I located about 3 recalls on this model. . Question. . . What responsibility does this used import car dealer have to me as a customer? they are consulting the mercedes dealership to see if it is indeed an issue with a brake/hydraulics recall. . I don't want to drive this car again. . I owe some money on it. What could I insist they do???.
When ithe brakes were applied to slow down the car water from a cup in the cupholder directly above the center console where the gear shifter is located spilled and seeped down into an electricial circuit board that was located beneath the cup holder. The car came to an abrupt stop and was inoperable. The circuit board short circuited. This was the second time this occurred where liquid was spilled and seeped into the circuit board. I suspect that the location iof the circuit would be the same for several model years and is a design flaw in that it makes no sense to locate a circuit board in a place where liquid is likely to be spilled and can cause a short circuit that renders the vehicle inoperable. This is very dangerous as it left the car inoperable in the middle of a 3 lane highway. The driver and passangers were exposed to the possibilty of the car being struck by another vehicle on the highway or struck by a vehicle trying to leave the vehicle and seek safety on the side of the hihway.
2 highway stallings: 1) Dec. 1. 2009 traveling on I-95 south at 70mph, check engine light on, car suddenly stalled, managed to pull to shoulder. Car towed to benz dealer 90 miles away. They changed a new fuel pump in charleston, SC. Continued driving on 2) Dec. 3,2009, after 400+ miles on I-95 south at 70mph, check engine light on, car suddenly stalled again, managed to pull to shoulder. Car towed to benz dealer in melbourne, florida. They changed another fuel pump and filter. Now I am driving with my finger crossed.
