After parking my car in the garage after a refill, I notice a the smell of gas coming from my car. When I took a closer look I notice that my car was leaking gas and the smell was horrific. This is a serious emission issue that not should be happening in Mercedes Benz.

Vehicle was acting normally up to incident. Entering highway accelerating like normal and pulled out in front of tractor trailer when suddenly car had dramatic and frightening loss of power. Full throttle did nothing. Downshifting did nothing. With truck horns blaring and near collision, I pulled off the road. Restarting cleared the problem. Dramatic loss of power has occurred three more times with no warning nor check engine light. Now light comes on with egr out of range code. Discussing this with other mercedes diesel owners points towards soot clogged egr valve and soot clogged intake manifold. How such a problem could occur so frequently at such a low mileage with a company known for diesels is unknown.
The contact owns a 2004 Mercedes Benz e 320. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the garage and exhibiting an abnormally overpowering gasoline fuel odor. The odor filled both the garage and the contacts residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a fuel leak. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that a case manager would return the contacts call. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 22,716. The VIN was not available.
Engine and engine cooling:engine
the drive belt pulley on the engine is develop fatigue cracks in the metal and break. The drive pulley breaks, the car would not have engine cooling, battery charging, and/or power steering. Consequence: loss of these systems can cause the car to over heat, lose power from the battery, and loss of control of the car increasing the potential for a vehicle accident
I took it to the dealership, and they said that there is no recall on the car and they can not help me so nothing was done to correct the failure.

I have a 2003 mercedes E320 which I bought from coggin motormall in ft. Pierce. I have put only 5000 miles on car and it has been in shop 2 times. First the front thrusts and rods were bad and now the car is stalling on me, once with my son in car. When the car stalls, I lose all control of the vehicle and have almost been killed in these 2 failures. It has stalled on me 4 times and now I refuse to drive this car and now the ball joints are bad. I hear that there is a recall on the struts and joints 200901002 ?? the car once came on and said rear brake failure as well. How does a car dealership sell a vehicle to a customer with knowing that it could kill a family? they said they inspected it. . This is going to kill me and my son. . Solve that, I wont drive this car. . Mercedes really needs to do something about these dangerous things. . It is going to cost another 1000 dollars to fix and I cant afford it.

Dear officer,
from the beginning (2010 August, 0 mileage, mb E320) the car has a chemical smell. At first, I thought it will go away. However, in few months it became the most awful chemical smell (it is not mold, diesel fuel or exhaust). This extremely penetrating chemical(s) is/are coming from carpet. Venting/air-recirculation increases chemical concentration in the compartment to extreme levels. The chemical(s) is/are definitively toxic give strong headache, dizziness, cause nausea, vomiting, light-headedness, cause and activate asthma (personal complains) and other problems (google search). Deterioration components of synthetic organic compounds are known inducers of carcinogenesis. I will be happy to provide additional information on health issues. Based on google search chemicals in the car compartment are common problems of mercedes, Volkswagen and BMW. The dealership rep agreed wit chemical smell. They offer chemical/deodorizer treatment what I am hesitant to accept as chemical odor reappear in few weeks (google search). Also many chemical deodorizer are toxic (u. S. Environmental protection agency and the consumer product safety commission). Based on google search the sound proofing under the carpet is the source as it decompose in these vehicles and release the toxic chemical. Dealership agrees the source of chemicals but they do not agree to change sound proofing (although they admit this common problem in mercedes). I respectfully ask national highway traffic safety administration at u s department of transportation to investigate this health issue caused by decomposition of sound proofing. This is an issue that severely effecting safety of driving and importantly well-being of us citizens. Sincerely, on behalf of many us citizens.

The contact owns a 2005 Mercedes Benz E320. The contact stated that when refueling, she smelled a strong gasoline fuel odor inside and outside the vehicle cabin. The vehicle was not inspected for the failure nor repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 67,000. Updated 4/26/13.
My 2003 Mercedes Benz E320, inwhich the fuel filters are located underneath the rear seat, had a powerful gasoline order inside the vehicle. The benz repair shop stated it was a hairline fracture in the fuel filter and it was leaking gas. They replaced the filters, but I've seen them replace the same type filters in 2008 models. I think this is a defective product and a safety hazard. If me or my spouse had been a smoker, or caused a spark, we could've potentially caused a fatal explosion. I think this needs to be investigated.
Strong gasoline smell after filling. The smell lasts at least 2-3 days before dissipating and happens every time we fill it. Problem was reported to the dealer multiple times.
