Car smells like gas. Constantly a couple machanic. Did some repairs. But there’s a small leak as well from a smoke test. Gas leaks in more than one area. Oil leaks everywhere. Evap leak didn’t pass smog. Then went to a smog station and repair. Check engine light back on again. I saw mercedes had an extended warranty to avoid recalling several safety complaints. I got the car from a guy who never looked into recalls or extended warranty for these complaints. Please help me to get refunded what I payed so far with repairs on gas leaks. Also to repair the whole gas system. It is dangerously ongoing. I never got notified by mercedes nor did the previous owner.

Heavy smell of gas fumes after refilling my E500. The smell is worst around the drivers back seat. The smell of gas is both inside and outside of the car. Horrible to drive the car - even with windows and roof open.
I am referencing action # pe12001. After each of my last two feelings, the car is emitting a very strong smell of gasoline. I park my car in my garage and the smell is strong enough that I can smell it in my home. I am extremely fearful that there will be a fire. I do not desire to park my car outside, but I believe the car is unsafe to keep in garage. I have lost confidence in my car fearing that even driving it around town could pose a danger to me and my passengers.
A couple weeks after my brake hydrolics went out (which was repaired under warrenty) I started to notice a strong gas smell from inside of my car, along with a check engine light. After a couple weeks of airing out I decided to take it in to Mercedes Benz of littleton for repair. I was charged $1500 for the repair, which still left my car smelling like gas and check engine light came back on with the same error code(small evap. Leak) I lifted the back seat to find the bottom soaked in gunnky gas along with electrical wires running through the leak area. I'm afraid my car will catch on fire or blow up. I'm sick of these dangerous malfunctions that I feel mercedes knows about but won't repair for free. I asked the service tech what I can do to prevent this from happening and he said "n othing". Now I'm $1500 in the drain and the problem is not fixed, and I was reassured the problem would show up again.

Upon refueling this 2005 Mercedes Benz E500 vehicle according to the owners manual, within an hour the car exhibits gasoline odors emitting from the interior of the car as well as strong gasoline odor from outside of the car. This lasts until the gas indicator shows roughly 50% to 60% of fuel remaining. We have previously owned a 2003 Mercedes Benz e320 as well with a the exact same issue, we ended up trading that car in on March 23, 2011. I found this on your website describing the condition my car is in. Date investigation opened: Mar 15, 2013 date investigation closed: open NHTSA action number: ea13003 component(s): fuel system, gasoline.

After driving the car about 20 miles (30 mins), I smelled gas. Ever since that day the smell of gas has been coming from rear drivers side. It started off faint but now has become stronger.
After filling up the car with fuel and driving 5 minutes home, the cabin of the car and areas around the rear of the car have a pervasive odor of fuel.
After filling up my car at the gas station the inside of the car smelled like gasoline so badly I had to drive home in the rain with the windows down. The smell has not dissipated and after doing research I found that this is a common issue with this make and model vehicle and that the NHTSA is investigating mercedes for this potential safety hazard. I want this problem fixed because I do not feel that it is safe to inhale gas fumes while driving and that a fuel leak is a dangerous defect that the manufacturer should fix.
Strong odor of fuel/gasoline vapor inside and outside the car usually occurs for up to 48 hours after refueling of the vehicle especially noticeable after sitting in enclosed space (garage) overnight. Have found leakage results raw fuel pooling and/or spraying on vehicle underside of the seat cushion. Research points me March, 2008 emissions recall conducted by Mercedes Benz (emissions recall campaign # 2008-020001) which involved potential cracking of the fuel filter module in vehicles exposed to high ambient temperatures.
Strong odor of gas in the cabin, soaked rear under-seat pad, rear seat soaked with fumes.
