Mercedes-benz USA, llc mailed me a notice that applies to my specific vehicle that the passenger-side airbag is faulty and can possibly cause serious injury or death because of sharp metal fragments upon deployment of the passenger-side inlator explosion, striking any occupants in the car. I contacted the local mercedes dealership and they have not been sent the replacement parts. I am uncomfortable to drive or ride in my car now. . Please overnight the part, or provide a courtesty car to use while we are waiting for the part and replacement service to be completed on my car. Thank you and please advise as soon as possible. This vehicle is currently under a formal recall by mercedes (NHTSA id# 19v010 - pnd tak phase 4). This complaint involves the lack of timeliness in resolving & correcting the issue. The recall letter states that deployment of the passenger-side airbag can cause ". . . Serious injury or death. " because of this warning, we are unable to accept passengers and are forced to limit driving the car without risking harm (or death) to ourselves or others. The recall notification letter was received in early 2019, but are told that parts necessary for the repair are estimated to be available in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (~18 months). For this extended time, we are expected to drive this car without regard to risk of injury or death; which is unacceptable to us. Not to mention the duress and anxiety placed upon us during this time. There seems to be no hurry or rush on behalf of mercedes, and their efforts to bring the airbag manufacturer (takata) seem negligent. When asked of the possibility to replace the airbag at our own expense, the local service rep advised us that this part is not available. To conclude, we feel this situation places us at undue duress and extended exposure to injury or death, should an accident occur prior to the "scheduled" repair.

After 17 months, mb has not fixed the safety issue or provided a promise date, most recently I contacted mb on 5/13/20 with reference #20513000070. They were unable to provide an estimated completion date.
