Twice in the last few weeks my tailgate has opened while driving the vehicle. Prior to this, the tailgate has never dropped while driving since the vehicle has been new. The tailgate was not down whenever I left, but it was down whenever I got to my location. I did not hit the tailgate button to drop the tailgate at any time before during or after this trip. On the one occurrence, items were lost from the bed of the truck, which could cause a road hazard for other motorists. There were no warning lights or notifications that the tailgate was open on the driver information center or elsewhere. I have service scheduled with the dealer on 5/2/25 to inspect the vehicle. I am unsure at what point in the trip the tailgate opened.

These models were recalled on March 9, 2009 NHTSA campaign 09v076000. My VIN number apparently did not fall within the selected VIN numbers. However my auto even though it is the same year as the recall has this same exact defect and condition and is deemed to be a fire hazard. What are my options.

I have own this vehicle on July 2023. I have recently noticed the exterior paint is peeling off quickly all over the body.
After a weekend of incessant rain, while driving a short distance (10 minutes) , this low-mileage, well-maintained 8 year old SUV suddenly stalled, engine appeared to have powered down and the yellow engine light came up and pressing gas pedal didn't do anything. I was fortunately able to press the power button once frantically and re-start it once more and pull over to the side but the car refused to power on thereafter. After investigations by the shops, it appears there was water leaking "through" the body of the vehicle and into the area below the interior of the car, short circuiting fuel driver and stalling the car (which they subsequently repaired after draining the water and replacing/re-programming the fuel pump driver) before handing it off for the leak identification work. The car was subsequently taken to a specialist shop to figure out the leak, and they are unable to identify any reasonable source of the water leak and insurance is so far claiming this is "wear and tear". In the course of the testing, the *same* issue happened again and the car stalled while driven by the shop personnel and they could hear the sound of water inside the cabin all the way up to the front. They are unable to identify the source(s) of the leak and at this point, the car has been unusable for over 4 weeks as insurance continues to push back and the shop can't do the additional work to identify the source in the body without insurance approval. I made attempts to contact the manufacturer but their only available contact is their customer support (no email/chat option) who refused to discuss this as it didn't pertain to them directly and re-directed me to talk to my own insurance company. I even reached out via twitter but got no response. This expensive luxury SUV is not just unreliable at this point but *dangerous* where there are mysterious water leaks under natural conditions like rain leading to car stalling while in motion.

In my neighborhood approaching a stop sign about 20 yards away. The car all of a sudden accelerated at a high rate of speed. I was going too fast to make the right turn and the brakes did not stop the car. I ended up running through the stop sign up an incline and into the woods hitting multiple trees before coming to a stop. This caused over $18,000 damage to the vehicle (not including damage to the under carriage). Not only was this pretty frightening but what could have happened if I wasn't in my neighborhood when this took place could have killed somebody. It really shook me up. Thank goodness there were no kids at the bus stop. I was also surprised that the air bags did not deploy. The insurance company totaled the car so no one really seems too concerned about the cause of the unintended acceleration that totaled my car while driving in my own neighborhood! this should not have happened. I hope someone will care enough to try and determine what happened so this doesn't happen to someone else.

Neither back doors on my 2015 Ml350 lock. Even after you try to lock them from the inside anyone can open the doors from the outside. This is a huge safety hazard because someone could easily car jack the car while you are in it. I bought the car new from the local dealer and I have reported this to the dealership and they said it was a known problem and that acutuators on both doors needed to be replaced at a large cost to me. I wrote to mercedes corporate to report this and to ask for financial assistance in trying to get it corrected and was told to just report it to you. Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

Hi I currently own 2015 ml 350 bluetec, was driving the ml and all of sudden the panoramic roof shattered with glass pieces raining luckily my kids weren't in the car and I was by myself. I have done some research online and have come across that this is a common problem in the above mentioned model. Please advise me if there is a recall or if the roof repair is covered by mercedes. Sincerely kal dadwan 6047203199 the above message was sent to mercedes and they contacted me back today that they will not cover the fix and they are aware of the problem. I would recommend if they are fully aware of the glass shattering then there should be a recall out to replace the glass with laminated one, if it shatters it doesn't injure anyone sitting inside. It was a sunny day no rain and I was driving the vehicle on a straight road at 50 km per hour.
The contact owns a 2011 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that roof fabric had begun to detach from the vehicle. Over time, the fabric started to obstruct the contact's vision out of the rear windshield. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and they offered cover a nominal part of the cost of the repair. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.

Power sun roof is coming off the tracks of the roof which it is attach to. I feel this is an extreme safety hazard because I believe it will eventually come off my vehicle and cause a serious accident flying into another vehicle or even a pedestrian. This was fixed by Mercedes Benz [ benze busch of NJ ] back in to 2018 and now it is doing it again. I contacted the dealer again about this and they refuse to repair saying vehicle is out of warranty. I also contacted Mercedes Benz corporate headquarters and they refuse to acknowledge the problem. Obviously this is a defect in the vehicle. I researched that they have had similar problems with other vehicles sun roof problems and they acknowledge those facts and repaired them. I previously filed a complaint with the NHTSA id #11478665 but it seems that you didn't have all the facts. Please look into this matter again now that you do. Thank you.
I was in a collision in which I rear ended another SUV. The speed control did not enable and I hit the other vehicle hard enough to cause $20,000 worth of damage to my car. I believe the car braking response was slow and the airbag should have deployed in a crash that significant, but it did not.
The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz Ml350. The contact stated that the control module prematurely corroded and the dealer (mercedes-benz of sacramento, 1810 howe Ave, sacramento, CA 95825,1810 howe Ave, sacramento, CA 95825) failed to ensure that the module case was covering the area when the vehicle was sold. The dealer stated that the vehicle was excluded from a manufacturer recall and refused to provide a solution. The failure was reported to the manufacturer and the contact was waiting to determine if they could assist. The failure mileage was not available.

Rollaway incident due to automatic gear selector mounted on steering column.
We bought this new vehicle and has been used very carefully as well. No accidents on this vehicle at all. We noticed that the front bumper chrome was peeling off. It is coming off in flakes as though the chrome did not adhere to the material at all. Took it to dealership and requested for a replacement as it is still covered under warranty. I researched and found out ours was not an isolated event and this has been issue for many others as well. However, the dealership refused replacement stating that this happened due to damage. I look at the bumper and cannot even see a small dent. The front bumpers are needed to withstand crash of lower magnitude and retain the bumper quality. This is unacceptable. Mercedes needs to honor the bumper to bumper warranty and take of this defect by recalling all of the vehicles.
Mercedes Ml350 was forced off the road on a rural hiway, front end drove straight into wooded area striking a tree just right of drivers side headlamp with serious damage to bumper and hood pushing into radiator. . . Drivers side front airbag never deployed. . . Both side curtain bags deployed. . . Luckily with low speed and seat belt on driver was not injured. . .

The automatic rear hatch closed but did not lock. During acceleration the rear hatch started to open. Any further attempts to lock the hatch were unsuccessful and the rear hatch could not be locked.
Atm at bank was not operating and was going inside bank, at regions bank in hendersonville TN. When car was shifted from park into drive the car took off at a high rate of speed, that could not be stopped by braking. The result being, hitting two cars, when trying to go between them, then still couldn't stop until nose dive in rock lined four foot ditch .
My mercedes Ml350 was parked on a residential street. Flames began shooting out of the right rear taillight. By the time that we saw it and extinguished it the entire back of the car was on fire and the car totaled. (matter of minutes) the fire department was called. I have pictures showing that fire came from the electrical panel in the right rear of the car. I had no previous indication other than a half an hour earlier the left rear taillight was stuck on. Also twice in the past year I called the dealer to say that I thought that there was some problem with the car because the air conditioner would randomly stop cooling. When I took it in they could never find the problem - it was intermittent. Since the fire mercedes customer service has been terrible. I asked them to replace my lost belongings not covered by insurance (this wasn't much) and it appears that all they wanted to do was get rid of me and sweep this issue under the rug. Customer service mercedes offered to give me $4,000 off the best deal that I could negotiate off a new mercedes at my local mercedes dealership if I was too buy a new one - they several times gave extended me this offer - when I went to the dealership and got a price, customer service mercedes took back their offer. When I asked to speak to a supervisor the attendant hung up on me. The dealership was good to deal with - customer service was terrible terrible! I've called three times since and they will not put a supervisor on the phone. There is a problem with this car - it should definitely be looked into so that it doesn't happen to others. I'm very grateful that the fire didn't start while the car was parked in my garage or it could have been a catastrophe. I have pictures if anyone cares to see proof of what I'm saying.
The contact owns a 2007 Mercedes Benz Ml350. The contact stated that there was a burning smell inside vehicle. The alternator and battery warning lights were also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who inspected the vehicle and found water in the spare tire compartment. The water entered the lift gate control module and caused the module to shorten and burn. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000.
The car was on an incline in my driveway. It has the transmission shift lever on the column, and I had been backing down the driveway. I stopped placed the car in park and got out with the engine running to move something. The car sat in place for approximately 10 seconds and then spontaneously took off at approximately 5miles/hour. Fortunately my daughter was standing on the driver side of the car in front and saw the car rolling forward, jumped in and hit the brakes just as the car struck one of other cars on the driveway. The shift lever was reading the drive position, even had I not placed the car in park, it would not have been in drive but reverse as I had been proceeding down the driveway.
Defect/ mechanical failure of front passenger jack mount. I had jacked up the front passenger side of my 2007 Ml350. Both back wheels were blocked with automotive wheel blocks. The parking brake was engaged, and the vehicle was in park with the motor off. The vehicle was parked on my cement driveway. I carefully place the jack to ensure it engaged into the jack mount and that the base of the jack was secure and stable on the cement. I loosened the lug nuts prior to jacking the car. After removing the wheel, I rolled the wheel out of the way and went to get a jack stand from the opposite side of the vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle fell. The jack mount had failed and the extended jack damaged the front fender, jack mount, and underside of the vehicle. I believe I took all reasonable precautions in jacking the car and I am very surprised and concerned that this occurred. I could have been seriously injured. These jacks are typically for use under much less ideal conditions. I have contacted Mercedes Benz head office in writing since the service manager at a local dealer suggested it was not mb fault. I also wrote them via their online email submission form on the corporate website - they have not responded.
