I drove to work with no problems. However; returning I started car and could hear a slight sound. I immediately noticed that the car rising sign was illuminated and I waited for car to rise. The car failed to rise and was sitting so low to tires that I could not drive and had to be towed home. At home I tried again to see if car would rise and again it failed. In addition to the abs break sign being illuminated as well. The message on dash stated to contact dealership for service. My mileage is at132,051.

Everyday I get a red signal alerting me to stop driving, car too low. It usually occurs when initially turning on the car or at the beginning of the drive. The rear of the car is visibly low and when driving it is uneven and bumpy. I have seen other R350 owners with same complaint and repeat costs to fix ~1200. 00 each side. No suspension recalls on an apparent defect in manufacturing?.

1. Air suspension bag rt side needed replaced. Car was setting low and leaning to right rear- while this was in for repair had mechanic check recent "check engine " light code came up with very serious and expensive issue: 2. Balance shaft gear defective apparently mercedes has been aware of this problem, class action suits have been filed- no recall yet. I plan to call mercedes dealer tomorrow- do not anticipate any help on their part - if that's the case will try to join class action suit as this is a known and very costly -(thousands of dollars) problem for numerous mb vehicles- many classes from 2007 -2011. Mercedes benz was apparently aware of this defect when I purchased my vehicle (used) from local mb dealer here in central PA on Dec. 3, 2012.
I had to replace the right air bag suspension and 6 months later had to replace the left air bag suspension.
Just brought this vehicle on 11/2014 its a 2007 mercedes R350 woke up one morning and the vehicle was leaning to the left the front of the left passenger side was extremely low. It's very low and is not drivable. No warnings. This situation is very dangerous and I see I am not the only one having this problem. This vehicle needs to be recalled and the manufacture needs to fix the issues.

Hissing noise, leaning to the right passenger side, power window bottons are break easily, emergency brake handle came off/break easily, and trunk stopped working. If this vehicle lean more low to the ground, this could cause serious accident. This is not safe to drive, do not put your children in this type of vehicle. We regreted getting this vehicle. People do your research, this vehicle is expensive to fix. Too many defects! it's horrible!.
I had just arrived at church and noticed the car leaning to the right side. I ignored it at first thinking maybe the driveway was uneven. When I got ready to leave my boyfriend pointed it out to me that the truck was leaning to the right. I took it to a shop to be checked out and they couldnt figure it out. There was no message regarding anything on the message board except service c was so many miles overdue. Called mercedes and they told me rear air bag. Cost would be around $1600. Cant understand why the dealer would not put a recall fir this problem.

Rear air suspension has required replacement 3times in the last twenty four months. Both sides in rear of vehicle have been replaced. Now looking at 4th replacement. I continue to see incidents on website but mercedes is doing nothing about problem.
When I woke up my car was leaning to one side (the right side). . . Couple of times the red light (stop car too low comes on) and I have to stop in a safe area of course, but this is scary when you have your young kids with you. . . The malfuction light comes on when driving over 45 miles away from home.
Rear suspension has failed. After viewing numerous of sites this seems to be a major problem. Mercedes has not recalled this problem and it should. Car lowers to the ground and there is no warning when this happens. Changes the control of the steering and could cause an accident.
2006 mercedes r-350 suspension defect I agree that something should be done about the rear suspension defect on the 2006 r-class mercedes. I also own a 2006 Mercedes Benz R350. This vehicle kept leaning to the right side. The automatic suspension on the vehicle was uneven. The red light asked me to stop…car too low. I stopped and it pumped up again. Drove a couple of miles and it did same thing. Took to mb dealer they said it was the suspension this passenger’s side issue of the vehicle being notably higher than the driver’s side of the vehicle. Leaning to one side has occurred twice. The rear air spring suspension has required replacement two times in the last five months (7/1/2013 & 11/28/2013): - both sides in the rear of vehicle have been replaced. - each rear suspension repair has cost me $1200. 00 each time (totalling $2400 for rear air suspension replacement). - both repairs occurred by an authorized mercedes dealer (smyth european mercedes dealer in santa clara CA). The Mercedes Benz manufacturer is aware of these problems but have not taking responsibility to create a recall.
The car rises up on one side when put thrust he computer no error code comes up . After a day or so sitting in the garage gets back to normal. Got it checked by mechanic no leaks . Then happened again they reset the computer charged me . Happened once again this time they changed the computer and the car showed airbag leaking. Car is out of warranty . Looked up on line mostly everyone who owns this car has this problem. This car has lot of issues. It stopped in middle of road on high way I was luckily saved but they said a shaft ring broke in the engine I had to pay $2000. 00 dollars . Mercedes should recall r 350 for suspension leaks.
After replacing the left side suspension airbag the day before, I noticed my car leaning to the right side as I got into it after using it once after being repaired. No warning indicator came on when I started the car. I was concerned making turns in this situation but managed to make it home. I brought the car in for service because it was obviously unsafe to drive. After replacing the suspension air compressor 3 months earlier, the left side air bag the day before, I was told that the right side suspension air bag had failed. Mercedes will not cover this repair and will not recall this known condition without being forced. They should be forced since many people are having this problem. I have had a problem with this suspension system 3 times.
I noticed my car leaning to the left side as I was returning home from errands. No warning indicator came on. I was concerned making turns in this situation but managed to make it home. I brought the car in for service because it was obviously unsafe to drive. After replacing the suspension air compressor 3 months earlier, I was told that the left side suspension air bag had failed. While on a road trip I started getting the red light that asked me to stop car to low. I stopped and it pumped up again. Drove a couple of miles and it did same thing. Took to mb dealer they said it was the suspension and charged me around 1200. 00. 2 days later same problem it had not been fixed. I need to return and have them re-check. I heard negative feed back about this car from day 1.
The 2006 Mercedes Benz R350 with the airmatic suspension has multiple problems that seem to never end. My car has only 70k miles on it. The suspension has been fixed twice by an authorized Mercedes Benz shop. While looking up some information on various websites and forums I noticed I am not the only owner with this problem. While driving down the highway a light came on the dash screen stating vehicle too low to driveto shop. When the suspension goes out the vehicle frame is approximately 2 inches from the ground. The stiffened ride makes it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. Mercedes benz stated you can't get a traditional coil spring conversion in the united states. The suspension problems with the R350 are also very costly ($3600) every time this has to be fixed. My car is currently in storage due to not being able to afford a third time to the shop. Please consider an investigation into the suspension of the Mercedes Benz R350 airmatic thank you for your time.
Came outside car is leaning to the drivers side. Took to the shop they said it was the suspension sensor, replaced it. 2 weeks later, car is leaning again. Repair shop says its the suspension sensor in the rear. 2 months later car is leaning again on the exact same side. There has to be a faulty part in this car or a recall is needed. This should not be happening again and again especially after repairs are made.
We have had a continous problem regarding rear suspension, right side started first, the rear would drop down but yet the left side would be up. This created a horrific unsteady drive. We had a suspension air bag replaced. Now the left side is doing it. Car can not be driven. From all that I have read and from dealers, this is a ongoing problem with mercedes. Why has mercedes not issued a recall regarding this problem? this should not happen and definitley not at a vehicle that has low miles. Now this issue is also causing uneven wear on tires, 2years later we are still dealing with this issue.
While driving down the highway, a dashboard indicator displayed "car too low". We pulled over and the rear end of the car was sitting as low as possible. It was clear that there was a problem with the air bag supported suspension. On restarting, the car rose and we were able to make it to our destination. The car then, with increasing frequency had this problem. I brought it in for service and the air compressor that inflates the rear suspension air bags was replaced. This problem occurred with no warning and at highway speeds with 5 persons in the car creating an immense safety risk. Many others have reported the same issue with this and related cars for this and nearby model years. Like them, I wonder why there is no recall. Mercedes benz will not replace these defective parts willingly and there are many of these cars driving down our highways.
While driving the car starts leaning to the passenger side when all of a sudden a big pop was heard and the car shake, like if someone hit it. It was an awful experience with the family. Very fortunate to had been driving 25mph of the time of the incident.
Woke up one morning and my car warning light came on advising me that I had a malfunction. I realized that my car did not lift up as it should have and after waiting for about 15 minutes, the warning light remained on however; it would raise up eventually. Some days were better then others and some days I had to park it for the entire day in fear of driving it while the malfunction light was on.
It was diagnosed by mercedes mechanic that my rear suspension rear air bags are leaking air. I have purchased compatible parts from airbagit. Com in mesa az. The airbags failed and the company did not honor the warranty or return agreements.
