1 Instrument Panel Failure problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

The contact owns a 2001 Mercedes Benz S430. While driving approximately 30 mph, the gauges and lighting on the instrument panel suddenly failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 06v028000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 160,000.

2 Instrument Panel Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

The contact owns a 2001 Mercedes Benz S430. While driving approximately 70 mph, the gauges on the instrument panel failed and the speedometer became stuck on 70 mph. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 06v028000 (interior lighting) that could possibly have been related to the failure however, the contact was advised by the manufacturer that the VIN was not included in the recall campaign. 3 Instrument Panel Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The contact owns a 2001 mercedes S430. The contact stated that the instrument panel was malfunctioning. The instrument panel was blank and none of the gauges would provide accurate readings. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where they stated that the instrument panel was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 173,704.

4 Instrument Panel Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2006

: the contact stated while driving 60 mph on the highway the instrument panel malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the instrument cluster.

5 Instrument Panel Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2005

Contact stated the instrument panel malfunctioned. The indicator lights /indicator were not working. Consumer had the instrument panel replaced. When the instrument panel first went out the gauges would not work either. The service dealer stated this was a instrumentation failure. The vehicle was no longer under the manufacturer's warranty, but did have the extended warranty. The replacement cluster failed several months later. Phone interview (September 23, 05) update: instrument cluster lights flickered for about 45 minutes before it blackout completely. After that, the consumer couldn't read the gauges and there was no turn signal indication. The consumer said that the dealership told him that there was an error with the manufacturing of the instrument cluster.
