The driver side reader door can be opened when the door is locked. The door can be inspected on request. The risk is that the door can be opened when the door is indicated as locked. On cold days below 40 degrees, my 2016 mercedes S550 w222, trunk lid when closed using the close button on the trunk lid closes and immediately reopens. It will only stay closed if I tie it down with a rope or elastic cord. I found a work around if I am home and apply heat to the latch with a hair drier and spray the latch with silicone lubricant spray. This problem is identical to mercedes campaign no. 2019030005, April 2019, which applies to s-clsss 222 platforms model year 2018-2019. I request that this campaign be extended to model year 2016 and my car. I have attached copy of mercedes campaign no. 2019030005, April 2019.

My 2015 S550 front stationary sunroof glass panel coating is fading.

While driving or even sitting this piece gets extremely hot and has actually burned me twice. As soon as the car is turned on the temperature rises on this piece that’s on by the arm rest.

I am writing to report an incident that occurred on oct 17 2023 involving my 2015 Mercedes Benz S550, where the front portion of the two-part sunroof spontaneously exploded while I was driving down the highway. On the aforementioned date, at approximately 5 pm, I was traveling down beltway 8 in houston in my Mercedes Benz S550 along with a pack of cars. Suddenly, without any warning signs or external impact, my vehicle experienced a violent shaking accompanied by an extremely loud popping sound, reminiscent of a gunshot. The intensity of the event startled me, and I quickly maneuvered my car to safety while other drivers also reacted to the sudden disturbance on the road. Once I pulled over and inspected the damage, I was horrified to discover that the front portion of the two-part sunroof had completely shattered, leaving a significant hole and glass fragments both inside and outside the vehicle. The explosion occurred on the beltway, before the kirby exit. Fortunately, I escaped any injury as the glass fragments were ejected upwards due to the force of the explosion. It is important to highlight the potential devastation that could have occurred had I kept the screen under the sunroof rolled in, as is my usual practice. Considering the size and force of the explosion, it is reasonable to imagine that if the glass had come pouring down onto my head and body, it could have caused severe injuries, including lacerations, contusions, and possibly even more serious harm. In light of this incident, I am deeply concerned about the safety implications for myself and other vehicle owners who may encounter similar issues with the sunroof in their Mercedes Benz S550 or other models. It is crucial that this matter be thoroughly investigated to determine the underlying cause and prevent any potential risks or harm to future drivers.

A retaliatory action to cause personal harm. Believe original VIN was placed on this car because of a complaint against medical doctors now under investigation. Took pictures and other proofs. Note on this vehicle says there are hazard Mercury arts used on vehicle like lighting and lists other parts and advises removal to be done as hazardous materials etc. Can upload photo of it.

I'm reporting a problem that can cause the vehicle to catch on fire. During cold temperatures the heated windshield will turn on and the car will catch on fire.

On Feb 26, 2022 between the hours of 4:00 am and 5:15 am the sunroof on my 2016 S550 Mercedes Benz shatter for no cause or reasons while driving on the main highway. When the loud bang accrued while driving I immediately pulled the car over to exam the issue and I noticed the sunroof glass had shattered. I was able to drive the S550 Mercedes Benz to my residence. However, this sunroof shattering could have a cause major issue if the lower cover to my sunroof was open. I would strong recommend Mercedes Benz reach out to the glass manufacture concerning this safety issue with defective glass (shattering glass sunroof for no cause or reasons).

The leather is coming out of the dashboard as a result of that the air bag on the passenger front window is coming out. You can literally see the white part of the air bag. Its a matter of time before the leather comes out all the way and the air bag will pop out. The dealer refuses to fix it and the car is still under warranty.

The gear selector on the steering wheel of the Mercedes Benz has a park button on it when you change the car from gear to park you press that button. That part button has stopped working. It is a safety risk as the car cannot be parked at the end of the driving and it stays in the drive mode. I have to open the door to activate the parking which is built in to the car.

The dashboard is separating where the airbag is on the passenger side and also the driver side which could deploy the airbag.

At approximately 0030 Friday August 07, I was travelling 65 mph north bound on the ca215/60 freeway, there was little traffic. I heard what sounded like a gunshot, then a crincling glass sound and finally a whooshing of air I would soon see was a gaping hole where my closed panoramic sunroof use to be. I exited the freeway at the next exit and pulled into a gas station, got out of the car and upon inspecting the car found a huge hole where my panaramic sunroof use to be. The windshield cracks and spreads rapidly without any evidential cause for a crack and yes it would be available for inspection upon request. This is the 5th replacement in 5 years - 2 in one year alone: 1st - at the time of purchase with only 16555 miles (mpi) rbm replaced the windshield. 2nd - 1/21/20 - 40410 miles (just got home from a drive through car wash and noticed the crack). 3rd - 7/24/20 - 42150 miles. 4th - 8/26/22 - 62274 miles. 5th - 6/18/23 - 77172 miles. Safety was at risk due to nervousness as to what could ultimately happen affecting driving ability. The problem has reproduced itself 5 times. Rbm has refused to take responsibility and consistently escalates replacement cost. No warnings or causes leading to cracks/breakage.

Takata recall. I was driving on the highway on my way to phoenix az to drop off my mom and grandma when suddenly the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a gun shot. There wasn't any type of object near me to cause it. It was very random. This disturbed my family mentally scaring them and I swerved off the highway almost crashing.

The rear passenger door on the passenger side indicate that it is locked, and despite this, it can be opened from the outside without a key or remote.

Even change to new tires, the air pressure up to 37 and always after 1 week or so, down to 33, complain and change tire and still have the same result. You could only check the tire pressure after you run for a while. Massage chair, after operation and all the sudden it stop. Clock in the cabin doesn't change even you set it up and the internal said the right time and the front doesn't change.

On 8/29/17 around 11:20 - 11:30am, I was driving on n270 just off from hov lane from s495 near montrose exit(little bit before), some metallic round wheel type with sharp edges around flew over from s270. I tried to avoid it by swerve my car but it must have landed below my car and scratched underneath which caused my car making weird sound plus burning gasoline smell. I didn't see my tire pressure gaze change so I went into local lane from falls road to get to my home. My car was not steering properly and I can smell gasoline even from closed windows. After parking my car, I saw gasoline leakage from underneath my car. It was such scary incident and I was so lucky to be alive and not hurt with gasoline leaking from my car.

Shifting lever is up for reverse, center for park, down for forward. All other transmissions you push up for park. After driving all other cars, even prior mercedes if you exit the car you push the transmission lever to up for park even with the engine running you push the lever up for park. This becomes a habit, a reflexive action but if you do this in this mercedes you go into reverse. What happened to me is I started the car in my garage and forgot something so I hopped out while reaching for the shift lever and pushed up for park, but it wasn't park, it was reverse and my car started backward with me only partially in the car. I barely made it back in before I wiped out my drivers door on the garage wall as the car exited the garage. I came within a whisper of getting smashed between the car door and the garage. Damage, about $7,000 but I avoided getting killed. Now, you may say that it is my fault for not shifting properly but why would mercedes go away from what has been the practice for many, many years? much of driving is doing what you have been conditioned to do, much of it is reflexive and that should be considered in design for safety. I wrote to mercedes about this and told them that this is a safety issue. I asked them for reimbursement for my repair but I don't expect they will comply.

Takata recall-I took my vehicle into park place mercedes of arlington in dallas, TX to get a diagnostic on why my panoramic sunroof would not open. I thought it could be repaired but service tech told me that the whole roof would have to be replaced. I feel like these cars are too expensive for parts not to be able to be repaired and have to be replaced. The shade goes back and forth, just the glass won't open, I don't understand why the whole roof has to be replaced. It sounds like an internal defect and I don't feel like I should have to pay for a whole new roof because of one part of it won't open up. Mercedes needs to look into a recall for this situation on panoramic roofs.

Vehicle fails to go in park after driving on the street and arriving at the grocery store.

Was driving and car just makes a jolt while shifting gear than I can't accelerate and it gets stuck in first gear rpm starts going up if I try to accelerate than I'll have to turn engine off which is inconvenient when your in traffic than restart it and it'll be normal but it happens every other day. Now the car is stuck on a gear and won't change gears completely parked it over night and still doesn't change gears when I start car and try to put it in drive it makes a hard jolt and doesn't accelerate past 30 mph. Been happening for 2 years now. . .

While driving on a very populated interstate may car lost power and was stuck in one gear and I nearly got hit from behind by another vehicle. Mercedes told me that my conductor plate failed and this was the cause of my transmission slipping from one gear to a very low gear. In my opinion this is very dangerous for our roads and I think that they should be responsible and make this problem go away before someone or multiple people get hurt.

I have had three run flat goodyear tires blow outward side walls rendering the vehicle in operable. All three occurred while driving on interstate highways within normal speeds of 70 to 75 mph. The first tire was replaced in FL in may - feft front, the second on August 9th in NJ same left front, and the third on August 12th in waterbury CT right front. All three tires had outward sidewall lateral destruction of 4 to 6 inches. The decompression was instantaneous the tires were 1, oem, and 2 and 3 replpacement for oem all same make and model goodyear. The vehicle is a mb 2014 S550 sedan with 20 inch rims. There is noi defect on any of the rims. The serial or VIN iswddugg8fb3a047390 net wgt 4,773 lbs. .

Backup lights on this car are totally useless. Dealer says no brighter bulbs are available. Dangerous situation. Backed into a mailbox and did $700. 00 in damage. Please advise what I should do.

Worn timing sprocket and balance shaft was defective when I purchase the vehicle in 2011. Mercedes benz knew about this defective part and did not inform me. The vehicle had 46000 miles on it at the time. If I was inform about this problem I wouldn't have bought it. I believe this is a violation of the consumer protection act.

2007 S550, 7-speed automatic transmission, 57,000 miles. Started about 6-8 months ago. Experiencing very rough jolting type shifting, most commonly occurs after being parked on an incline or decline. Occurs when driving up or down an incline. Also, occurs on the freeway or after using cruise control. Transmission shifts from first to second gear and stays there until it's restarted. Requires turning off the car waiting a few seconds and restarting to reset the gears. Check engine light now starting to come on. Very dangerous when driving in heavy traffic or on the freeway. After researching this issue I cannot believe it simply hasn't been recalled. This is a very dangerous issue. . . I will not allow my wife to even drive the car unless I am with her. ----many forums are suggesting a valve body replacement. Appears to be a very common issue with these vehicle. Located a class action lawsuit that unfortunately was dismissed due to the complaint citing fraud. I don't believe mercedes sold these vehicles knowing the transmission was faulty. I would just expect them after receiving numerous complaints to offer their clients a repair option via recall. To date I am not aware of one. I have owned 4 mercedes in my lifetime, 38 years old and had a few minor issue here and there but never anything like this. Service has always been great but now that I am out of warranty I am left out in the cold. Not good for business in my opinion and very unsafe for anyone on the road while a mercedes owner is experiencing this issue.

I was in unfamiliar area. Remote key would not operate. When using small key to enter vehicle car siren would not quit blaring and . New batteries did not help. Mercedes responder told me I had unoperative "dead" key. Car of course was unoperative. No way to move car from area. Could not secure car. I had rbm in atlanta on cell phone entire time. About hour later someone took me to my home for spare key. This worked. Key was as mercedes responder told me. . . . . . Dead. The mercedes keys are unsafe and undependable. Need to be recalled. Mercedes would not replace "dead" key per kyrus frames at rbm in atlanta. Because my car had 57000 miles on it and out of warranty. Key must be recalled due to safety concern there is no way to operate a "dead" key. Mercedes responder told me that he sees it all the time. What if??? I had been miles from home? unsafe area? compromising situation?this is unacceptable for $100,000 car. I could be dead. Just provide a workable key mercedes.
