Three problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer was having a bouncy & rough ride. Dealer said it could be the transmission. Also, driver's side seat rattles when getting in & out. Dealer has tightened the bolts. Seat is loose, and if in an accident it could be a risk. Dealer was replacing the parts.
Vehicle downshifted into passing gear while driving down a hill and vehicle accelerated. Brakes did not response, causing consumer to run into a bus and telephone pole. Also, dual airbags did not deploy. But, cover came off, resulting in a broken hip and pelvis. Prior to this accident consumer was complaining about transmission. But, dealer stated it was not important.
While the car was in park on level ground,parking brake not applied, it came out of park,went into drive & moved foward. This happened on two occasions, 6/6/99& 4/27/2000.
