I was turning into my drive way and the car all of a certain accelerated to a speed up and I immediately jump on to the brake to stop the car and it crashed into the back fence . I got out the car to check and see if the pedal had the floor mat on it and their was nothing on it.

Car would start and die. Failed to run at idle. Replaced idle air sensor. Event occurred at 55,000 miles.
Car would not idle after starting. Thank god it happened in driveway. Towed to dealer, and dealer replaced iac valve, and cleaned fuel system. Car had 37974 miles on it. 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. . Sudden engine acceleration. While stopped at a traffic light, the engine accelerated at a rapid rate and had to be placed in neutral in order to return to normal idle. Fortunately driver had his foot on the brake.

When shifting from park to reverse the power train will lock up or go into a severe strain similar to brakes being locked. Occassionally the car will surge forward even though the trans indicator is in the reverse position.
When vehicle is idling at stop sign, at a red light, in gear with foot on brakes, vehicle will start accelerating. Consumer has to slam on brakes to keep vehicle from jumping forward. Also, has to turn key off. But, this problem only happens intermittently.
While driving at 10 mph engine started to race really loud, consumer turned key off, and hit brakes immediately and stopped. Consumer towed vehicle to dealer, and currently it has worked. The motor started racing following a loud noise, and went out of control. The problem appears to be a factry defect.
Vehicle has accelerated 3 times when consumer wanted to slow down. Applied brakes, but was not able to slow down. Finally, had to take vehicle out of gear to slow down. Dealer cannot find cause.
