This is a serious safety hazard that could result in death or injury. If I hadn’t escaped in time, I would have been killed. I am urging the NHTSA to investigate this defect and take immediate action to remove these vehicles from the road. Others may not be as lucky. This issue is life-threatening, especially because the fire started while the vehicle was in motion. These vehicles must be recalled and removed from use before more people are injured or killed.

#airbags. . . On may14th 2022. . . I brastin bass had a wreck, and the airbags didn't deploy, at a speed of 50mph. . . Which caused very serious personal injuries. As, a concussion, whiplash, sprained thorax spine and bottom of my back, strained ligament in my knee, rib contusion, fractured tooth!!.
For sometime now the headlights on my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis appear to fade or dim soon after turning them on; giving the impression they are losing power and about to fail. I live in the mountains and am very familiar with each and every turn I see on the roads I travel. You see that is the matter of fact- if my headlights failed; I would not see the turn possibly a fatal fact.

I believe there is a manufacturing issue with many of the Ford Mercury Grand Marquis from multiple years of models. It took only minimal effort to find that many people have the same issue as I do with cars of the same make and model regarding the front wheel assembly being hazardous and ultimately unsafe to drive the vehicle. My personal issue is a very noticeable clanking/thudding coming from mostly the driver side front tire and the assembly used to control and secure the tire. Many similar complaints appeared as results on google after attempting to search solutions and answers to what the problem is. I found more than one account of people losing front tires while driving and even coming to a stop to park. I believe there is a massive safety concern here with so many identical accounts on the same issue. I for one rely on my personal vehicle greatly and truly think the company should be forced to come up with a legitimate solution to this issue. Live are at risk here and I for one think this needs to be taken into serious consideration. I continued to search for a solution but could not find any viable considerations on the internet. All accounts lead to the front drive assembly being simply defective and can not be prevented or permanently repaired in most cases. The company must be held responsible. They should be in charge of redesigning and replacing the front steering assembly on all cars still affected by this issue and made liable for all expenses of replacement.

I have a 2008 mecury Grand Marquis ,I was in a wreck in December 10,2017 frontal impact my air bags did not go off or work during my wreck also my seat belts did not work as well. I got hurt in the wreck because non of my safety equipment work. I bought the car used from Ford dealership airbags we're replaced when previous owner had the car he tap a pole in a parking lot. I complaint with Ford and dealership I don't know what airbag is in my car . I think it's a takata air bag that is in my car dealership sold me a unsafe car and knew about it. Ford motor company knows about my matter and has done nothing about it. Also shop who worked on car when previous owner had the car. Cuss me out for asking what been done on the car . I ask Ford I want my car fixed and repaired for it to be safe so I am still waiting on them. I also want tramway auto body shop in sanford nc to be under investigation for unsafe car repair. Also want Ford to recall the car as unsafe or takata air bags could been replaced and install on your car unsafe claim repairs could be done by unfit shop with out owners notice. Geico insurance has been told about airbag non deployment faulty equipment and didn't do anything.

Vehicle had been driven less than one mile to work, sat for approximately 10 hours and was driven back home (less than one mile). The vehicle had been sitting in the driveway, turned off, for approximately 30 minutes when it caught fire and burned.
Air bag light turned on and has remained on. Vehicle has 20195 miles. Apparently this has been an on going problem that company has failed to addressed.
Headlights will not stay on need to hold back the headlight switch.
I am not happy with the way Ford is handling this recall notice 15s39/NHTSA. There seems to be a problem with the headlight control module. We where instructed, via letter from the Ford company, to only notify my dealer if I am experiencing this headlight failure. Well, I did and it seems the Ford dealership didn't even know there was a recall and not only that but could do nothing for me. This is a very serious situation and it seems they did not take me seriously.

Airbag warning light came on. Dealership said it was a faulty tensioner on passenger seatbelt. Cost over $800 to replace. 2 months later the warning light is on again. Now the drivers side seatbelt tensioner is bad. After websearches, I've found thus to be very common with this model/year vehicle.

My car was in drive at a business traffic intersection drive way on a slight hill with the brakes on when the engine surged and the car started to reverse while still in drive. I had to put considerable pressure on the brakes to stop it. I checked and the shift lever was still in drive. My car has been properly maintained and was recently serviced with all required services done. This really scared me and I would have crashed into a car if it was behind me. Ford should look into this safety problem.

I was driving along when my tire blew out. The car spinned into traffic and hit a wall and guard rail but did not hit any cars. My whole front end was smashed in and long the one side of the car scrapped up. The air bags did not deploy!!!.
In Feb, 2014, I originally had a minor crash when another driver was cited for reckless driving. His insurance paid for my damage. No airbags were deployed on either me, the driver, or my mother, the passenger. We were belted in. Recently, on September 7th, 2015, the airbag warning light and chimes came on when I started the vehicle. The light continues to come on, the chime rings in 3 sets of 5 periodically. The dealer that fixed the original damage, alan jay, ran a $55 diagnostic and stated the passenger seat belt pretensioner was open, and that this could have only occurred in an accident. I asked why the system did not respond the 1 1/2 years earlier when the accident occurred? alan jay did not have an answer, but stated my entire restraint system and airbags would not operate in any future crash, until I replace the passenger seat belt, which will cost $780. 00 alan jay Ford / Mercury said to contact national general insurance because "the pretensioner doesn't just go" that an accident had to have occurred to cause this. National general called me back today and stated this is untrue. There has been multiple complaints on the Mercury Grand Marquis airbag light activating and shutting down the restraint system and turning off the airbags for no cause. . Read more...
Paint started to peel in the front center of the roof, a small spot. I thought a stone or rock hit it. Then around the sides of the back windshield. This spring the hood started to peel also. First in one spot then in multiple spots. It starts by a bubble, then it pops and peels off in chips, which stick to the windshield at times. Then it starts to peel off in big pieces. At all times it peels down to the bare metal. It definitely appears that the affected areas(parts) are not primed. When driving you can see the paint start to lift off and let go. This problem seems it will not stop until the whole hood and roof are bare. Seat belt light does not go off when buckled. You can attempt to buckle and unbuckle multiple times it works and does not work. Some days there is no problem and other days it is an issue.
Vehicle was purchased used in June, 2011. While braking for a stop light, vehicle suddenly accelerated. Had to forcefully pump brakes to stop vehicle from hitting vehicle in front. Car returned to normal operation as soon as I got it stopped. Have had similar incidents a couple of times before, although not as bad as this one, however, at that time I thought maybe I had accidentally pressed the accelerator while braking. I know that was not the case this time.
This started out with lights and windshield wipers cutting off and on with no apparent wearing. Also burning smell. Took it in got that fixed. I was informed this had occured in others same exact thing. Right after that next thing was dash lights for abs, airbag, and anti skid stay on. I took it to 2 places. Was told it was a module unit by one place the other couldn't find a reason. I have not had it fixed since I couldn't get a clear reason for it, also the car runs fine. The lights must mean something. I'm going to sell it but need to get as much a possible for it and this will take away from the buying price. Need to fix but was told the module unit repair seems strange. Please help any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
Paint coming off the hood and other parts of the vehicle distracting the driver, sticking to the windshield while driving in wet conditions.
The left turn signals (front, rear & dash) blink faster than the right ones indicating a burnt out bulb even though the left bulbs work. We replaced the front & rear bulbs twice and they worked normal for a short period of time. Then they revert to blinking fast. I replaced the bulbs the first time and the dealership service center replaced the bulbs the second time. There must be something wrong in the electrical system. I've noticed this with other Grand Marquis also.

Fuel pump and crankshaft sensor both went out on vehicle at same time. Repair of crankshaft sensor was a $400 and fuel pump repair was $740. Doors do not lock properly when using the key remote and lights inside the vehicle on controls flicker on and off. Heating element in leather seat on passenger side has never worked and had to replace tires due to unusual wear and tear. Cost to replace tires was $478. Driver sides door will not shut all the way due to alignment problems and this problem has not been corrected. Had to replace fuel filter due to leaking and this cost $178. Car has become a money pit and it only has 77,000 miles on it.
In July 2009 I purchased a slightly used 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. On many occasions while driving I have applied the brakes only to feel the car accelerate without warning. I have not had any accidents, but I feel that it is just a matter of time . . . . The problem resides in the close proximity of the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal. My car has auto-adjust pedal height, but unfortunately both pedals adjust as a single unit, rather than one-at-a-time. Simply, the accelerator pedal is too far to the left - about two inches from the rhs edge of the brake pedal, and when I depress the brake pedal, often the right-hand edge of the sole of my shoe contacts the surface of the accelerator pedal, leading to the surge of power -- which is the problem. This is made worse in that when the brake is applied, the pedal will pass to and through the plane of the surface of the accelerator pedal, thus making this shoe-contact more likely. There is abundant room to move the accelerator pedal to the right - with a newly-designed pedal shaft. (the present pedal "hooks" to the left at the bottom part, sort of like the lower part of this "9" digit) or, the pedals could be raised up/lowered independently, in order to increase the vertical distance between them. A thicker rubber pad on the brake pedal would accomplish this handily -- it would need to be about one inch thicker. I am very concerned about this. I contacted Ford motor company about this problem within a short time of buying the car. I have contacted them several times, including today, but so far they have been unresponsive. (but of course today's conversation may bear fruit. We shall see. ) in the notes of my first call, according to the person who read them to me on a subsequent call, my concern was described as ". . . Owner needs to know the location of the accelerator and brake pedals . . . " or words such as those!.
When parking a newly acquired used 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis at idle speed in a local shopping center, the engine accelerated and the harder I pressed the brake the faster the engine ran. To the extent the traction control activated and the wheels spun in place. The only way I prevented crashing into three parked was to shift the transmission into neutral with the engine racing. What apparently happened was my foot was not centered on the brake pedal and the pedal traveled to the point where I was also pressing on the accelerator. Evidently the travel distance of the brake pedal was so long I pressed on the accelerator pedal at the same time. I took the car to a Mercury dealer and was told this was a common problem, but he could not correct it because the brake and accelerator pedals were operating as designed. The dealers technician reported that my complaint was that the pedals seemed to close together. This may be true, but the problem in my mind is the travel distance of the brake pedal. I was also told Ford has not as yet issued a solution to this safety problem.
Sudden acceleration. The car did this after starting it in the driveway. Upon placing the car in drive the car accelerated burning rubber in the driveway. Had to stand on brakes and turn ignition off to stop car. The second incidence happened while braking for a red light, I had to shift car into neutral to stop car. Unsure of mileage in this instance. Most recently while in south carolina I was sitting at a red light with my foot on the brake the car suddenly accelerated and I had to shift to neutral to avoid rear ending car in front of me. (mileage 60,000).
The paint on this vehicle has bubbled and fell off the car, all over the car in various places. There does not appear to be a pattern to the damage, except where the window wash squirts there is some discoloration and rust. Preventative measures have no affect on the paint coming off as multiple washes and or waxes do/ did nothing to prevent it from continuing. Part of the damage follows a rivet or welding line on the hood where it is welded to braces on the bottom of the hood, other places appear to be high wind or high stress areas. The paint feels fragile , has no resistance to breakage and appears to be a well known defect when researched. Sanding , resurfacing and repainting helps some, but unless the whole car is redone it is ugly and very hard to control and it is also disappointing.
Horn on 2005 Mercury grand arquis works intermittently.
Your form is a little difficult to complete for a complaint of this nature. The problem lies with the floor mats. They are so light weight that they tend to shift when one enters or departs the vehicle. They also shift when the vehicle is in motion, due to the movement of the foot between the brakes and the gas. Even the retention post for the drivers floor mat fails to keep it in place. It tends to rotate to the right and move forward toward the pedals. This is a problem that could cause an accident if the floor mat were to jam either the brake or gas pedal. Thank you for your time.
