Front Seat Belt Anchorage Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis

Consumer stated the passenger's side front seat belt retractor will not release the belt. The consumer tried pulling the seat belt out of retractor, instead the seat belt began to retract tighter and tighter. Consumer had to be cut out of seat belt. Consumer had to cut the seat belt to be released. There were two recalls pertaining to the seat belts but the consumer's vehicle wasn't included.

Left front seat belt does not lock on hard stop.

While in the vehicle can't sit down on the seat correctly. The seat belts are built incorrectly in the vehicle. Consumer contacted another dealer, and they said they could do nothing to fix the seat belts. Consumer stated that the problem was the lousy design of bringing the seat belt up through the seating surface of the front seats.

Consumer was involved in a frontal accident. The driver side air bad did not deploy but the passenger side air bag inflated. The right air bag was replaced. The seat belt left bad bruises across the chest of consumer. Going 30 to 35 mph, consumer was thrown into the steering wheel. A new seat belt was installed on the drivers side and is operating normally.
