Front Seat Belt Retractor Problems of Mercury Grand Marquis

The contact owns a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact attempted to engage the headlights however, both headlights failed to illuminate. The hazard lights were activated in order to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the headlight control module would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the manufactured part being on a massive back order. The manufacturer was notified and they were uncertain when the part would become available. : the contact stated, as the break pedal was released to begin a left turn, the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The driver side seatbelt retractor failed to lock, causing the contact's head to hit the steering wheel, which resulted in an injury. A police report was filed and a complaint was filed with the manufacturer.

Consumer stated the passenger's side front seat belt retractor will not release the belt. The consumer tried pulling the seat belt out of retractor, instead the seat belt began to retract tighter and tighter. Consumer had to be cut out of seat belt. Consumer had to cut the seat belt to be released. There were two recalls pertaining to the seat belts but the consumer's vehicle wasn't included.

Started to transport my grandchidren who are in neeed of car seats. Seat belts will not retract after using them 2 times precluding use of the car for transporting the chidren.

When driving at any speed the exterior and interior mirrors are vibrating due to the mirrors not being solid. Also, rear seat belt will lock up on any person that is too large for seat belt consumer is unable to get out of seat belt.

Front seat passenger side seat belt would not release. Cut seat belt to release passenger after extensive effort to release the buckle. No evidence of damage to buckle or improper use.

Seat belt retraction on both driver & passenger side is extremely sluggish. Consequently, the belt slack frequently gets caught in the door when it's closed, and thus provides no protection for occupants if a crash occurred. I complained to Ford dealers but they claimed warranty was only provided up to 5/50,000 on safety equipment. In my opinion, this defect is no different than seat anchors coming loose and the belt retractors should be replaced at the dealers expense. I would appreciate your response.
